You do have a point, although they could easily rectify that by giving us a crash course via an origin story.
Alas, I'm sure the origin stories are gone along with DA:O, but replaying it... they really did add a lot of flavor and understanding to the gameplay. You get a quick taste of what it's like to be a member of a particular group. As much as DA:I actually tries to take into account your race and background in the course of the game, it's not the same as actually seeing where your character came from, and how they were torn away from that place (or rescued from it, as the case may be, dependent upon perspective).
Unless they change their mind on it (and who can tell - maybe they did? I've already made a claim in a different thread that DAI was something of a soft reset for the franchise, hence things from now on may go in directions people may not expect), it doesn't seem like origin stories will be back - I don't remember where, but I do recall reading somewhere that they either weren't entirely happy with them or something in the way they were implemented bugged them.
Then there's also the question of how they're planning to start the next title - with DAI they went with something of a "Hitchcockian" route (first an earthquake happens and then tension grows), though I've heard that initially it was supposed to start with our character walking about the Conclave, which is also likely where they found out a few things or their background was figured out... Eventually they scrapped this, because it dragged the pace - which I think may also be one of reasons why they may not return to more specified Origins... um, origins.
So the question is how they'd like to start the next title - with a bang? By slowly immersing us into story? Something else? Considering how open-ended the ending for Inquisition/Trespasser was, I'd say it's anyone's guess - but with a rather certain involvement of Inquisiton, aside from characters' origins they'd have to likely quickly re-establish both Inquisition or how the character came into working with them, which in itself may cut the time for detailing our character's background.
Considering Solas seems to like sex pretty well, given his comments? I'd say he'd be amused by some, horrified by others, and not entirely sure how to deal with his popularity--I mean these fics are written by not-person gremlins, right? So that means they don't have much value, and yet... they DO praise Solas... Is he a monster if he destroys his fans?
That's just me alright, but I don't think any character with any fandom should be sat anywhere near a big red "nuke 'em!" button, because there's a high risk any of which would use it, either because of how enraged they were of what they were written into or just to save themselves further embarrasment.
