OK, a correction to my Western Approach as Solas' nap spot theory.
The prophecy trailer was a fan trailer, but I was still intrigued by the figure rising in the desert. I wanted to find the orginal image and hear the voiceover related to it. I found it below in a very early trailer they released in 2013. You can see the figure beginning to rise at 1:23. Morrigan is saying,
"...or lead this world to its bitter end."
Soo, there's still some value to this piece of evidence?
OMG Aroihkin you are my long lost sibling. It's so good to see another Lavellan with a really scarred face, broken-as-hell nose, and Elgar'nan's vallaslin, used to be half-feral, guard dog, capable fighter... She's Gryff's soul-mate. climbs ontop of you like a happy cat

Sounds like they'd get along great, and kick a whole lot of butt on the way. ![]()

I always thought the desert person was supposed to be the Inquisitor. (And I was so teased by the cape, lol. Capessss...) Though that doesn't mean Solas wasn't sleeping in the Approach.
"Darkness closes in. Will you stand against it, or lead this world to its bitter end?"
hmmmmmm .... HMMMMMMM
wonder what that means .... (*coughcough*SolasMakingNewWorldTearingDownVeil*coughcough*)
Aw, I missed the Solas x Lavellan anime couple share fest!
Well, since I spent more time working on this than I should:

yeah, that's how I interpret it

I'm happy to see another... "non-traditional" appearing Lavellan in the group.
Mine is no great beauty, but besides that also has a broken nose and a honking ugly scar and it is perfection for who she is. Though she is a bit more on the motherly side. Just, you know, the sort of mother whose young you don't threaten else she'll end you.
yeah, that's how I interpret it
What I'm trying to see is if the figure has a cape on or a buttflap like the elven thigh armor. if it's a buttflap, then it's probably solas, and I can't think of any other armor that has characteristically torn flaps like the one in the video
(start watching video at 1:21)
edit: I watched it again and I couldn't find any of the unique traits of the elven armor on the figure (like crazy pronounced thighs). the shape seems to be different and the figure appears to be wearing boots. I think it's the inquisitor.
(And I was so teased by the cape, lol. Capessss...)
I bet this is one of the reasons they waited until DA4 to go to Tevinter. Got to wait for consoles to catch up in order to support the luscious cloth physics of Tevinter robes. ![]()
I would not be surprised if inquisitor cameos happen in a fully-caped version of the Taken Shape. It has, like, the fetus of a cape on the back of it, probably because Calpernia had to work on PS3 and 360.
It's a Tevinter-friendly design, because Calpernia wears the same thing. And it lacks inquisition logos, so it's disband-compliant. And it's endgame armor, like the Champion armor in DA2, which Hawke wears for their appearance in DA:I.

I'm not sure if the it means anything that the elven armor isn't there. (I don't think it is.) This was released back in 2013, so the designs might've changed.
It could still be the Inquisitor, of course.
Found this amazing theory rolling around on tumblr.

it's absolutely brilliant, and it makes a lot of sense with what a lot of us were thinking already
(a theory a lot of the crazy lore junkies have been passing around is that Mythal brought Solas the spirit into the world and presuaded him into having a physical body)
Cole dialogue that many believe is referencing Solas:

I had thought this a long time ago. Long before I finished the game, but then my brain puts puzzles together. I find the hidden meaning in everything and miss the obvious thing that's right in my face. Before Trespasser came out I had started a story about a sentinel of Mythal's and Solas discussing her death and how each blamed themselves for not being able to protect her. I really should brave talking about my theories I've called so many things that have been confirmed, is it any wonder I want to write what happened behind the scenes of the game? Ugh I need help ![]()
Edit: And in that the girl has a wolf companion like the Emerald Knights had. I absolutely love that part of the elven history.

Ooo, I hope so. I'm looking forward to Tevinter fashion in general. ![]()

So do you agree that Solas was already close with Mythal as a spirit, and was persuaded to become a full elf by Mythal?
I think it very plausible, if not probable, and it's certainly something to think about

Yeah, that's the impression I got too... Although I still like to think his story of growing up in that village had some truth to it.
I would have liked to play the E3 2013 teaser trailer DA game instead of what DAI turned out as ... still like DAI but it could have been epic.
Yeah, that's the impression I got too... Although I still like to think his story of growing up in that village had some truth to it.
Same. I don't think he was lying, but rather he was just leaving out a ton of information, as he always does lol

I think it is at least possible if not a fact. Think about his name. It means Pride. But is it a reminder of what he could be come (He tells Quizzy he would not have her see what he becomes) Or is it what he is? Was/is he a spirit of Wisdom/Pride? I think it entirely possible that he is/was a spirit of Wisdom. Though if he is he certainly makes a lot of errors of judgement ![]()
Hence one of the plot pieces behind my modern woman in Thedas. She is a spirit of peace/hope. I get told so many times by people how at ease they feel around me. That my aura is soothing, that I pull their negative emotions/thoughts from them and push peace/hope that soothes their restless spirit. The first person to tell me that I looked at her like, um...ok if you say so. She wasn't the last. So anyway my point was Certain spirits such as Cole push themselves through, but if there was no veil how did spirits interact? Were they more like people than they are with the veil? Those we talk to have emotions aside from just wisdom, desire, command. Command in Crestwood is quite interesting and I plan on expanding on her story. You hear emotion in her voice as she tries to make sense of the world and how she refuses to leave until something bends to her will. Dorian talks about how interesting spirits are and in Rivain there is knowledge of the amulets that prevent spirits from being bound by others.
I think that any spirit can adapt and become more than their original nature if it's done slowly and doesn't inherently go against that nature.
I hope that made sense ![]()

There's also the possibility that "she" is some a-hole like Andruil, and it's a parallel to Fenris. In other words, "asked him" would be more of a compulsion than a request, and it would also explain the burning off part. Then Mythal became his Hawke-analog? His loyalty to Mythal definitely feels similar to Fenris' loyalty to Hawke.
(maybe I just want to see Fenris' annoyance at another mage saying "we have so much in common")
So - I was internetless for a weekend and there's 30 pages to catch up on. And I'm lazy. Did I miss anything good?
Us? We're better than good.

I talked about spririt people in my old theory thread and yes, I do believe that spirits can become more diverse and "people-like" if the circumstances are right.
in my theory thread i explain it pretty simply http://forum.bioware.../#entry19672260
the thread is pretty much dead by now but it talks about spirits becoming people/elves etc. and hints at how Solas might have become a person (never got time to put that theory down the conclusion is easy to come to)

the reason why everyone thinks it's mythal is because of "all new, faded for her" I think. "her" is mythal, and he faded the world and himself for "her" (mythal) to save the elves. multiple times Cole's used "she" he" "her" in dialogue referencing Solas (can't remember examples) and it all seems to be about him and mythal upon later inspection. this quote seems to be following that trend, imo
