urgh, guys, so I just finished Apotheosis (finally) and I'm in dire need of some fluff. Has anyone got some good heartwarming recommendations? I think I'm going to make myself a cup of tea...

Well, can't deny I'm disappointed re: PW comment, though not exactly surprised. Guess I'll hold out hope for something better than a one size fits all cameo in the next game. It does seem odd that the somewhat cliffhanger -ish end to Trespasser may in fact mark the end of the Inquisitor/Solas relationship (romanced or not), but eh. Guess I have a few years to get over it, which I'm (almost) sure U'll manage! Kind of puts a dent in my enthusiasm to play through the Solas romance again though, if I'm honest, which is a shame

PW also did say we were going to see a resolution to the Solavellan romance if he has his way, so no worries Trespasser is far from being the end of their relationship.

• Curly gremlin sleeps poorly, side effect of discontinuing lyrium treatment.  IRB denied additional templar gremlins as controls.
• Dwarf gremlins: worthless.
• Mouthy elf gremlin refuses to cooperate with experiment on basis of "creepiness."  Excluded from data set.
• Anchor gremlin: consistently dreams with at least 50% more clarity than average gremlin.  Statistically significant.

(Week 31 addendum: accidentally kissed Anchor gremlin in last night's experiment.  Data excluded from analysis.  Drinking tea for nerves.)

Also, in terms of academic fields, Solas screams philosophy professor to me. Cerebral, distant, highly theoretical, everyone thinks you're super weird for being interested in it... yep. The awkward, aloof, can't deal with other human beings stereotype is actually true at least a third of their time.

 

And despite what you'd think, ethicists in particular actually tend to have quite scary views - one particular French philosopher (whose name escapes me) doesn't believe you can tell another person is truly alive until you try to kill them. I think knowing how ethics works allows you to know what you get away with.

Abstract: I will use gremlins to get physically in the Fade and remove the Veil. It will likely destroy all gremlins.

 

Background and significance: The Veil was created to lock the Evanuris and prevent them from destroying the world (Fen'Harel et al., Science, 102:0 Arlathan). It was later discovered that this resulted in a number of unfavorable side-effects, namely ageing, loss of conscious connection to the Fade, and Tranquil-like behavioral and thought patterns (Abelas et al., Cell, 300:0 Arlathan). It was further suggested that these morbidities collectively comprise a syndrome named Gremlin Syndrome (Felassan et al., J. Neurosc., 3:06 Towers). So far no treatment has been found for Gremlin Syndrome, although entering uthenera has been shown to significantly stall its progression (Abelas et al., Nature, 200:0 Arlathan). I propose to remove the Veil and thus prevent further spread of Gremlin Syndrome.

I mostly write fanfiction to fill in gaps.  Things that I would have liked to see, but the game didn't show.  What was their first time like?  Did they ever talk about the wolf statues all over the Dales?  That sort of thing.  But ATM, the fluffy in-between stuff feels...a little pointless?  No matter how happy or fluffy they were before, it all ends in the same place, with Lavellan trying to stop her idiot apocalypse boyfriend

Well, on the bright side... Solas is not just outright evil. We kind of knew that, but having his creator point it out should help with people declaring him to be the antiChrist. I mean sure, he comes close to that, but it's not so simple as being able to categorize him into "good" or "bad." This pleases me.

 

But for f's sake if the only time we see a resolution of Solas and Lavellan is in a cameo where we get no choice on how she responds, or if it's just her running, game-controlled, to a fallen Solas who whines that he loves her as he dies I will flip s*it.

Nooo! Life is not a state function, falon! Just like you want to see what their first time was like (your fic on that was great, BTW), it's the little fluffy in-between moments that make them who they are and their relationship what it is. I think the experience matters even if it didn't last. 

 

I put fluffy bits and everything. Soup. The reason Solas owns proper socks but not proper shoes. What his parents were like. Dunno, little silly things like that make the characters more real to me.
