I feel as if we'll metagame it as a new PC so we don't hurt Solas if we romanced or friended him as the Inquisitor.

Therein lies the problem. I can't imagine a new PC not going gung-ho guns blazing at Solas without some serious metagaming. I feel like the Inquisitor HAS to be involved in some way to make the redemption path plausible.

I always thought Gremlims were disgusting creatures.

Let's hunt them down and destroy them!

Especially a romanced Lavellan or best friend Trevelyan, Male Lavellan, Cadash or Adaar.

Sadly for a spirit lover, he has caused great panic in the spirits who fear the Veil being torn.

Since I can't slap the sense into him as the Inquisitor, I would gladly annoy him into a fight as a new PC to get some feeling of satisfaction that could not be given in DAI.

Actually, I think he informed them. Many of the spirits were drawn and mangled into demons by the Breach, because of how unexpected it was. Well, not now - spirits likely know that something's going to happen, because he's not hiding it from them (and in trespasser Cole reveals that he knows how to speak to them so they listen to him).

I mean, considering that Solas makes efforts to save the world unnecessary bloodshed on Thedas side, I can't see him not doing the same thing for his beloved spirits.

Or the killing of him meaningful. Whichever you choose. Some new wippersnapper killing or defeating Solas, whatever, I just can't imagine having any sort of emotional pull with a stranger doing this. I'll give him/her a chance though, of course. But I'll exercise my right to whine and ****** in the meantime, lol. Helps deal with the sads.

Totally kills them.  Use an entire swimming pool full of water, to make sure.

I would hope so, because some of us have a very beloved spirit who is returning to the Fade to wait for someone who needs him. I would like him to remain in one piece.

Yeah, nobody other than those who played Inquisition would be invested or even interested in a redemption route. I mean... why should we be, unless we spend a lot of time in new game unnecessarily running through the very same thing all over again (and not as effectively, because we will never know Solas in a way we got to know him through Inquisition). What's the point?

....Although, even if things are going to be fleshed out in DA4, via use of Inky, I'd like to think that Bioware will not just spell it all out and make choices simple (as in - turn everyone from wanting to kill him to wanting to save him or something) - perhaps only those willing to listen or figure more out will get the fuller picture, with those who didn't spend time with Solas in DAI and never really caring for detail ruuuuuuushing for his head :D

It will not only award those who stuck with the franchise for longer, it will also reward all the good qualities I think - curiosity, patience, empathy, attention to detail and so on. Kinda like Inquisition did with Solas already, or with Blackwall or Iron Bull ^^

...Actually, I think Cole is going to stick to Solas, no matter if he commands him to go away. Kinda like Inky who chooses option to redeem him, and especially romanced Lavellan :D

A new protag after all the buildup for the Inquisitor makes me a sad panda tbh. Especially with how close they are to Solas, one way or another.

Me too, but they've always gone with a new protagonist in the past, so I'm not holding onto much hope for keeping the Inquisitor. :(

That's also why I was trying to think of a scenario where the new main character might look at Solas as more than just a baddie to take down. Especially if Solas continues to gather power and progressively gets more scary. There might come a point where he resembles little of the person he was during Inquisition, at least on the surface. I mean, Corypheus had a backstory too, but would you have redeemed him in the end if there had been the option?

Exactly!

New PC: *Goes to kill Solas*

Inquisitor: *Stops them*

New PC: Wait....don't tell me you want to spare this guy?

Inquisitor: Of course not. But if he's going to die, he has to die meaningfully by my hand. You feel me?

Solas: **** gremlins....

Spirit Cole and a romanced Lavellan are BFF's no doubt about it. Cole even ships them lol I love the part when he asks why he left her and how she's embarrassed about losing her markings. Sadly when the time comes though, if Cole had to choose a side, who would he choose I wonder?

I don't even want to think of such a thing... Image a horned white unicorn running at you with a bunch of Gremlims on there back? I image my progie would be confused on what those nasty things were... Until she used fire magic to murder them all!

This reminds me of a vampire LARP I took part in years and years ago at a con. Everyone was considered to be in character at all times during the hours it was being played unless wearing a button indicating they were OOC. So. A group of vampire characters went to swim in the hotel pool. In character even. They couldn't even use the excuse that they couldn't wear the button on their swimsuits.

They were having a grand time until a priest character came by and blessed the pool.

Water will totally kill some things!

Yeah, I wonder how they'll make Solas very personal with a new main character. It seems like kind of a waste if the Inquisitor has no important part in it all. S/he has a meaningful relationship with Solas (good or bad) and a personal reason to want him stopped.

I think it was a bit of a waste that Hawke just left (after s/he said Corypheus was her/his problem mind you). Just, why? Even Anders, Justice, and the Warden had a personal connection that would of been amazing to see explored.

I'm sure BioWare will manage to make it personal for whatever character you play, but it doesn't change the fact that these characters are being dismissed without any chance to really find closer for their mistakes and past actions.

LOL. Indeed, let's go find water shall we? Water kills them!

I see what you're trying to do GoldenGail!!

You want to trick me into raising an army! Sneaky, very sneaky. Reminds me of a certain someone.

Hell na, Cornflakes was well beyond redemption in my eyes. Solas may get to that point as well. But then, you were allowed to redeem Loghain.

But they've also never ended a DA game where the protagonist's story is clearly not over, and it's not just Thedas' problems carrying over, but something much more personal. The tone was completely different.

This gives me hope for a direct sequel with a return of the Inquisitor as protagonist.
