What the? Look they need to be more clear about him as an LI! What gender he goes for and what race he goes for...and is this really confirmation he is an LI? If he is Awesome but If i have ot play a female elf to romance him...fine! I'm okay with that though a bit disappointed my female human can't romance him.....

Um. Devs said that, I didn't presume anything. As I said, it's just weird for me. For now, at least.

But I also will find weird as f-ck Vevienne not being gated, so that's it.

Best part about that is you got good options anyway. I really like what they've done with the love interests this time around, having options for everyone.

 

Oh for sure.  No doubt.  I definitely am not complaining.  I still have both Dorian and Iron Bull for my male dwarf and qunari Inquisitors and I have Josephine (and hopefully Vivienne) for my female dwarf Inquisitor (not really into Sera).  So I'm all good.  It's just funny how adamantly against Solas as a m/m option I used to be back when I thought he'd be 50% of my options (given that the elf guy has always been a m/m option in the games).  But then I learned more about his personality and got confirmation that I'd have multiple non-elf options and, suddenly, Solas was growing on me a bit.  Oh well, congrats to all of the elf Inquisitors who are interested in him.  Now we just need to know if he is for gals, guys, or both!

 

maybe that is the motivation...only another elf would not see him as "just an elf"?

 

That's a really interesting point.  Maybe he's so turned off by being seen only as an elf that it's biased him a bit against other races.  Maybe he's not quite as open minded as we think he is.  It would also make sense given his reclusive lifestyle too.  I'm intrigued.

Me too, this makes me very interested to hear what his story reasons are for being available to elves only, and it feels a bit bittersweet to me. But on the other hand we CAN romance him!!!!! Which is the most important part!

My first play through is (of course ) a female Dalish DW Rogue, so I think she will be safe to romance him with. But I won't lie....I'm oddly disappoint. And will be so still, if he isn't Bi. Sounds terrible of me, since just having him as an LI should be viewed in a joyful manner, but........

Whelp since I don't like playing elves my interest in Solas just died. I will not being changing my characters race for a romance with him either. Maybe down the road I'll make an elf that will fit him but it seems very unlikely since playing an elf bores me. Hope he's bisexual for the fans that still want him though.

Because attraction and personality are the same thing?

Honestly everyone talking about how it's ooc or how he should be into other races because he doesn't want to be seen as just an elf just sound like they can't get over not being able to romance him with their planned Inquisitor

Yay.  Squee!  My Dalish rogue playthrough is a go (she was anyway, but just YEAH!)  Sorry for those of you who don't wish to play elves though.  I am a little surprised that he is race gated, but I suspect cross species relationships should be more rare than what is portrayed in DA games.  He probably is just not attracted to other races.  It is also possible that he comes with some unknown bias, but I can see more of the just not attracted/want to make sure my children (in a straight relationship) are Elvhen.

They only said he was an open individual who tries to see everything in shades of grey.  That doesn't mean he won't have preferences.  

 

"It's more complicated than that!"  Isn't that his slogan, per Patrick Weekes?  Well that applies to this situation.  He doesn't have to be attracted to all races just because he's open minded.  People are more complicated than that.
