When you thank him and tell him in Trespasser that you couldn't have done everything without his help, he says something like how the credit is misplaced and everything you did, you earned. That's very typical Solas though. He nudges, but ultimately lets others act...for better or worse.

Well of course! He graduated Mythal's school of fate-nudging.

I'm all for a feelsy sex scene!  :wizard: Anything less just wouldn't be Solasesque. I wasn't thinking giving up their respective causes for one night of bliss. That wouldn't make much sense...unless it was in the Fade...Anyway, I imagined it being post stopping him from dooming modern Thedas as a reward for sticking it out and putting up with the Hellspiral for 3, 4, or 5 years.

Me too, but it should be optional for the folks who don't want one. But see the thing is it would suck if the scene was corny or done poorly. I feel like a heavily suggestive fade-to-black scene would be better. Something like; they have a fluffy conversation, Solas gives Lavellan a balcony scene-esque kiss and whispers things in elven, holds her hand and leads her over to the bed then he pulls her to him quickly and continues kissing her. Fade to black. End scene.

No. In my first PT I've decided to wait with Sera's recruitment, because for some reason I couldn't ind the red thingy needed to push her recruitment quest further - too late after arriving to Skyhold I realized that her quest was no longer among active quests in the journal

Thanks!  Appreciate the info.  I'm trying for the Trial of the Lovers achievement and I was wondering if I could fudge it with some characters considering I'm planning to go for the mages.  But it looks like the only two I have to worry about are Vivienne and Sera.

I think you can theoretically still recruit them after In Hushed Whispers?

Hmm, that's an idea.  I may try that.  The wiki says that Cole and Dorian still have approval/disapproval even if you haven't recruited them yet (although you do actually have to have met Dorian at least) but even with all of the times I've played I still don't recall seeing a Cole approval message at the end of the quest.

Even so, I'm not sure if Vivienne ever leaves on her own if she hates you.  I don't think so.  Pretty sure Sera will though.

If you recruit Vivienne she'll never leave you - she has personal reasons to stay and she's crucial to the plot as a potential Divine and eventual rebuilt Circle leader. Sera I don't know - I know you'd be able to convince her at least once to stay, but she probably has her negative approval threshold the reaching of which would mean she'd leave automatically.

She's like an extra-refined barnacle.

Random rant - got bored and went through some random fanfiction and I have to ask... in what world or play-through Solas's eyes are anything other than clear grey?

I've seen people describe his eyes as gray-blue, green or even stark or icy blue eyes and I'm always like... wut? Am I seeing something wrong ? I have two monitors calibrated differently to work with graphic stuff so I... don't think so?

Plus, grey suits him - with him being 'grey' in terms of morals and also with grey eyes being generally associated with wisdom, since the Greek goddess of wisdom, Athena is oftentimes called 'grey-eyed' (it's actually misconception based on wonky translation, but it stuck). Also, this: http://tvtropes.org/...p/Main/GrayEyes

Solas's eyes turn up grey-blue in my game, though that might be due to the HD eye texture mod.  And the wolf's eyes on the Heirophant card are blue, as I recall.

Solas' eyes have run the gamut of colors at this point. They've looked grey, grey-blue, straight blue, purple blue, etc.

The one time they showed a close up of his model's eyes way back when, they were like grey-blue with a hint of purple.

ALSO, I'm curious because I can't really hammer it down in my head: how tall do you all think Solas is?

They're actually yellow-ish:

Spoiler

Anyway - living in a nation where a heck of a lot of people have grey eyes (it's like when you go to Scandinavian countries and many people there have blue eyes and blond hair, over here a lot of us have gray eyes and mousy blond or brownish hair) I concede that sometimes it may be hard to identify the color, since it can vary depending on lighting conditions or what they reflect.

Heck, I myself had problem identifying mine for a few years :D (until I figured out it's because I have a gold-ish ring around a pupil. Central heterochromia ftw)

Still, both in my game as well as plethora of screenshots I've seen, including those with clear lighting conditions, they've rarely been anything other than clear gray.

I've only ever seen his eyes as grey on my screen.

Oh, I see. They've never done that before, and I don't know why they would. Weekes said we'd get closure, so I'm optimistic.

I think I'm just being pessimistic so that I can only be pleasantly surprised when the game comes out.

Whoops!  Fanon interfering with canon.  Thanks for the clarification :)

They look light blue-gray to me for the most part. But the color does seem to vary depending on lighting. I just always assumed his color is meant to change in various shades of blue to make him look unique and otherwordly (aside from his sharp facial features). Or basicly to give off the impression of this person is someone who is important.

Didn't some people on tumblr or somewhere make some measurements based on game models or something? I can't remember. They said around 6 feet?

Anyhoo - from Trespasser scene (and romanced Lavellan angry option picked) he seems to be at least half a head taller than Lavellan :D

Depending on the lighting, I've seen them grey, greyish blue, and blue.  On scene they looked lavenderish.

Solas' eyes just look blue to me.  I remember when they were more purple-y when seen up close.  They probably look different depending on what lighting he's in.

I think a lot of how people perceive his eye color (or any other colors) depends also on color settings of the monitor. On both my monitors though I personally don't see the color deviating much from a simple, clear gray, especially in clear lighting conditions. No hints of blue or purple.

It looks the same to me, both on my monitor and two different tv screens I've used.  His eyes are just an ordinary sort of blue.

That's just bizarre (and fascinating) how the same thing can look different for different people :D

Anyway, what’s your favorite banter, and why?

I like this one:

  • Dorian: Solas, what's this whole look of yours about?
  • Solas: I'm sorry?
  • Dorian: No, that outfit is sorry. What are you supposed to be, some kind of woodsman?
  • Dorian: Is it a Dalish thing? Don't you dislike the Dalish? Or is it some kind of statement?
  • Solas: No.
  • Dorian: Well, it says "apostate hobo" to me.

(if Vivienne is in the party)

  • Vivienne: Unwashed apostate hobo, more specifically.

Which is even more fun now because Solas completely sheds that look in Trespasser. Makes me think he was wearing it when he joins the Inquisition to ease suspicion and not because he was truly a fan of the 'apostate hobo' fashion style.

On a different note, do you think there's any chance Solas has friends and loved ones still alive and in uthenera or trapped behind eluvians? When he talks about 'restoring his people' it sounds very cold, but perhaps less so if *not* going through with his plans means abandoning those elves forever.

... still entirely gray for me

I wonder if it's an elf thing or a default shine they give to eyes? My elf had red eyes once and in some shots she still had this unexplained blue-ish tinge in them.
