You know......I was wondering.....

.....what if the dragon Old Gods were Mythal's children. Being dragons and all.

I mean that just adds a whole knew level of vengeance.

A note ot add to this, Mythal knew how to fight Andruil while she possessed armor of the void, which I know a lot of people guess is red lyrium armor.

So, would that mean Mythal was resistant to the Blight?

Thus, dragon children resistant as well?

Hmm.  Yavana has her high dragon sanctuary, and there's the whole thing about dragons being the blood of the world.  Maybe Mythal's dragon form protected her from contracting Blight when she dueled Andruil, and she started using her dragons to try and stop its spread.  So the Evanuris killed Mythal and sealed her children beneath the earth.

It's a good alternative theory to the "Evanuris are Old Gods" one.  And it would explain why Flemeth tried so hard to save Urthemiel via Dark Ritual, and why Morrigan's comment about being a bad mother hurt her.  In trying to save one of her lost children, she neglected her living one  :(

You're all Solas romancers right?

Your Inquisitors are like weirdo women who send love letters to psycho murderers.

I can compromise.

Hey! I was very coherent!

And he is, he is the devil.

But I wont argue that here since you guys are obviously obsessed with him (like those weirdo women who send love letters to psycho murderers in prison)

above here, in exhibits A and B, is an exquisite specimen of Maximus Trollius, lurking outside of its natural habitat. Note its usage of casual misogyny on a video game forum by inferring women are 'crazy' or 'pyscho' or 'in need of therapy' for having feelings.

addendum: to make it clear, you can have a positive or negative opinion of Solas on this thread, and be as critical as you like, but don't insult people for the sake of it in such a derogatory manner. It's petty, it's rude, it accomplishes nothing but wasted energy.

Solas either lied then or was unaware because he tells us there's no connection. Makes me wonder exactly how much he knows?

I think the dragons and Mythal do connect, but the way Solas spoke of her, she seemed different from the others, and not just because she cared. I wonder if she was even an elf?

Your rant was amusing, I'll give you that. :D But no, we have plenty of people that come by who don't like him, or were just friends with him. We really do welcome all opinions. Solas is not exactly the opposite of "polarizing." It's nice to get other viewpoints, but we're used to theorycrafting and discussion and debate 'round here. Not flinging of feces and pi*sy pouting. Step up the game!

If+we+evolved+from+monkeys+then+how+come

Im just proving Solas right, Im nice like that.

Yeah, I got to thinking about it when I was reading the canticle of Silence.

The Old Gods will call to you,
From their ancient prisons they will sing.
Dragons with wicked eyes and wicked hearts,
On blacken'd wings does deceit take flight,
The first of My children, lost to night.

I mean....this is suppose to be Andraste talking right? And there's the whole Andraste/Mythal/Flemmeth relationship ting going on something something.

This just sounds like it is describing dragons being taken by the Blight or something bad at least, and then rferring to them as my children.

I dunno.

I apologized for that. No need to call me a misogynist for one mocking comment I made in jest.

All the other comments were for your character, which either gender, I would of said the same thing. I guess I would of used men and he instead...

But whatever, I could make some type of nasty remark about the f word but im not going to because im better than that.

To clarify, Solas says there's nothing in any lore that connects the Old Gods and the elvhen.  Which is probably true.

See, I took the "My children" line to mean that the Evanuris were the Old Gods.  Former spirits, who became embodied elves, who became generals and god-kings.  But your interpretation makes more sense if you believe that the "Maker" talking to Andraste was in fact Mythal, which I think is also a good possibility.

Theorycrafting.  It leaves me with a headache, but an oddly satisfying one.

This leads us to the headache-inducing question of "What is an elf?"  Which, as Sten wisely points out in DA:O, is more complex than "a lithe, pointy-eared people who excel at poverty."

I think that by the time Solas sealed them away, there was something different about the Evanuris from your "average" ancient elf.  They might not have been that way to start, and it might have simply been a product of sheer magical power.  But Solas says that the first of his people do not die so easily, so there must be something unique to them.

Maybe Mythal was the "Something we have never seen" he mentions in describing what he 'believes' the elvhen gods to be.

Then 'technically' if the Old Gods were Mythal's children they 'technically' weren't evhen or something like that.

Sneaky.

If going with the theory that Mythal called Solas into being, would the same be true for the rest of them? What the heck would that make her, then?

Or the Blight might have changed them into something more like the Magisters. It's just from the way he talks of Mythal, she was above them all.

But I mean, the first spirit to take form? The actual Maker? The soul of the world itself? There's so much I want to know...

My Lavellan would not send love letters. She would send frilly cakes with tasty lyrium filling and socks enchanted with a spirit rune for extra softness. So Solas can eat the cake, power up the magic, escape from prison (if he listened to her he wouldn't get caught in the first place!), and go back to hunting dragons and thread trolls with his vhenan. The socks are so that his feet don't get cold at night.

He already has one sock. He just needs the second one trapped in the Skyhold vault to get a matching pair!

I actually know how to knit socks.

It's fun but it's not fun at the same time. They'll be like, the most cozy socks ever, but they take forever cause the yarn and needles are tiny.

Ooooo, I should knit a pair of socks with colorwork that looks like  a veilfire rune on the side or top of the foot.

June would greatly approve.

Hmm Ive been stripped of Gremlin rank and sentenced to mere Troll.

Disappointing

Look i'm not trying to offend people (probably not true but it sounds like something I should say)

I'm really curious as to why you defend him so much, like him so much, and your character still likes/loves him

Go to my thread, give out your points and I will answer back without fece slinging. At you, Solas gets all my wrath, and I might find your Inquisitors absolutely mental, but in the nicest way.

There seems to be a number of players who dislike elves in just about every fantasy world that contains them. I have no idea why, but I've noticed the hate seems to be mostly directed at the male elves, not the females. Or, at least it was that way in the WoW fandom.

I think the reasons for that basically boil down to this:

Yes, but they are enchanted socks! They're the softest socks he's ever worn, and when he puts them on, he thinks of her. They deal extra damage when he kicks people!

 I'm getting a laugh out of your posts my slightly offensive friend! As much as we may say we love differing opinion we're still a Solas obsession fan thread and will defend that bald elf to our last breaths! I'd offer to come over and defend Solas, but I somewhat question my own obsession with him, so I'm probably not the best Solas defender.
