No offense meant, but if you saw absolutely no good points about Solas during the game, I'm not sure what any of us could say to convince you. Different strokes, after all! If you're curious as to how we feel, you can just read the thread a lil bit.

The short answer: Most of us believe Solas is a very nuanced, sympathetic character with a clear good side as well as a clear bad side. Most of us are invested in and love his complexity. That's why we're Solas fans, and why we argue round and round about all sorts of things here, very much including his bad points. To call us his "followers" isn't quite accurate, considering most of us want to shake him until he changes his mind.

SOLAS WAS MY BRO!!!

I WROTE THIS ALL ALREADY!

I'M ALSO HIGHLY ALLERGIC TO FAN ART AND HEADACHE INDUCING THEORIES!

THIS THREAD IS CAUSING ME TO BREAK OUT!

Ugh, I apologized for that twice alreadyy

I didnt want to argue here because you seem to want to have more levelheadedness... and yeah, like I'll stand a chance arguing on a fan thread.

MEET ME ON NEUTRAL GROUND FIEND!

Sorry! I'm  a slow typer and I usually stay out of things so I missed that! And I can't leave the blanketfort! *hides under blankets*

I'm not angry or anything btw. Just talkative at the moment! :P

You're all Solas romancers right?

Your Inquisitors are like weirdo women who send love letters to psycho murderers.

I can compromise.

I ran a playthrough but no, I am not a Solas romancer.... My main character loves Cassandra ;) I'm simply an admirer of the character, flaws and all. That said, hard not to think of Lavellan as Anna from Hannibal, too dense to realize what Solas truly is.

Chapter 16 of Doughnut Rebel is out!

http://archiveofouro...apters/11256994

Also, there's this very short but incredibly well written fic that's just small snippets of Solas' journal. The author just posted a new chapter. I highly recommend you read it, but feels alert: it has feels.

above here, in exhibits A and B, is an exquisite specimen of Maximus Trollius, lurking outside of its natural habitat. Note its usage of casual misogyny on a video game forum by inferring women are 'crazy' or 'pyscho' or 'in need of therapy' for having feelings.

addendum: to make it clear, you can have a positive or negative opinion of Solas on this thread, and be as critical as you like, but don't insult people for the sake of it in such a derogatory manner. It's petty, it's rude, it accomplishes nothing but wasted energy.

I have to disagree, this specimen is clearly a Trollius Minorus. The Vhenan Trash gang are much better at taking the piss out of Solas.

Seriously though someone come argue his good points with me on my thread.

DEFEND YOUR LOVERS HONOR!

How about this, Inquisitor? Despite how horribly you may have treated Solas in the past, including physically assaulting him, in the end you still found yourself kneeling at his feet completely at his mercy, screaming in pain from the Anchor.

But he kept it from killing you.

Again.

A true villain would have coldly taken your life or gloated and left you to die in excruciating pain. Solas isn't going to win any hero awards, but he's not an idiot and he does have a sense of morality, as strange as it may seem to some.

I think the reasons for that basically boil down to this:

tumblr_mypjd5jMI31tnc0iuo1_500.gif

Heh, close. It's the arrogance, usually. Not of their prettiness, but usually elves are the same, long living and supposedly more intelligent.

Up until now, Dragon Age elves were none of that, but still had a lot of the arrogance anyway, at least in the Dalish camp. Which makes their attitude even more silly. Like "We used to be the **** until these shem came around", which is rather funny.

As far as I'm concerned, I tend to dislike the people themselves (generally, not all of them), but appreciate the lore surrounding them due to their ties to the metaphysical in every fantasy setting.

I'm enjoying ThoughtlessRanter. They are like a cool breeze on a hot and humid Summer night. While we fall into the hot bowels of Hell over a character we love and despair, they breeze by and lift our spirits, keeping us with smiles on our faces and laughing all the way.

He already has one sock. He just needs the second one trapped in the Skyhold vault to get a matching pair!

Or this one.

Unless that's the one you're talking about. :P

Lol that's the one I was talking about. He had it while he read Varric's book, but the other is stuck with Trifles Minutiae in the vault I sadly never got so they are sealed in the wall forever. Seriously though Solas... Swords and Shields??

Troll I'm not arguing, but misogyny? Since when was it misogyny to infer a woman or women of a specific group were crazy for a specific action. It'd be misogynistic if they'd said all women are crazy, not just Solasmancers. Even if it is wrong. Usually :P

It could have been one of the qunari "reading" behind the building.

Ooh, Top Solas:

LMAO! I bet the impaled one was trying to read Sandal's journal and got an unpleasant reaction from our beloved dwarf.

Let's face it though, Solas needed Swords and Shields after leaving Lavellan. It's his version of ice cream and hot baths.

Cassandra is a bamf. She goes everywhere with me, but Josephine is my number 1 gal.

Uh, is it just me or are the ladies romance options extra psycho? Cullen is normal I guess, except for being an addict, but whatevs, I dont judge (straight faced lie, but he's trying to overcome so that's what matters), but all the others seem iffy.

Look Bull can possibly betray you

Blackwall betrays your trust

Solas is a nazi

(Yeah i realize Bull goes both ways just an example)

Hold on now, if i get deemed a Troll I definitely want to be a major. I dont settle for half as**d

Egh, i dont know whats in them. Probably the shaved hairs from Solas's head.

You know what, there was a lengthy thread about that in the Feedback forum sometime last year (ish? I think?) about just that. It seems like female love interests are either straight up cute and boring like Cullen, or off the wall crazy in some way or another. It's like there can't be a balance between the two so we can have interesting and conflicted characters that don't want to dump you, burn the world, or destroy churches.

That you noticed this vindicates a lot of people who posted on that thread. <_<

Bull is a victim of birth. His culture is cray, and his issues within it are a direct result of his sanity amongst the bunch, which you can arguably be blamed for breaking when he betrays you due to letting his friends die needlessly. (oops, lol).

Blackwall betraying your trust is hardly psychotic.

Cullen is suffering from withdrawal, also not psychotic.

Solas' plan may be drastic, but he's not psychotic. He lacks empathy, but as my girlfriend explained while we were watching Hannibal, lol, that doesn't make him insane. He's actually very sane and very intelligent, he just doesn't give two shits about most of the people of this world. Call it evil, douchy, whatever you wish, but don't try making him out to be what he isn't, or no one here will take you seriously.

Pah I thought Solas was my friend. A**hole gave me that effed up mark the least he could do was keep it from killing me and yeah thanks dude for the stump that used to me my left arm!!!!

i don't know why he does it to Inquisitors that treated him like crap, dont care (actually im sort of inteested but that sounded more dramatic), I was never anything but friendly with him and he threw that back in my face.

... So, because Solas is more complicated than a straightforward friend, it makes him evil and Hitler and stuff?

Stellar logic, that.

Also - no, he didn't "give" anyone the Mark, his plan was to get it for himself. Inky being Marked is both on Corypheus AND Inquisitor, who disrupted Cory's ritual. Solas actually saved your life - the hand was simply too far gone at that point. If he didn't intervene, Inkys would likely lose entire body, not just a section of their left arm.

Well, I mean, he could have just killed you then and there without much effort. It'd probably make things easier for him, actually.

Also, technically the Inquisitor gave themselves the mark. They were certainly never meant to have it!

Though, I still blame Solas for the loss of my hand, considering the crazy plan was his to begin with, and he wouldn't have needed to save you if he wasn't working to end this world.

That or one of those books reviewed in the Randy Dowager Quarterly. He seems like the sort who reads so fast, he reads anything put in front of him even if he hates every moment of it.

Hah. Maybe just a more female preference then (not trying to sound offensive or whatever just asking) romances targeted at women tend to be a little ummm... shall I say Twilighty and these things must get popular for a reason right? I guess male targeted romances are bad in there own ways tho...

No I dont think they are psychotic (minus Solas he def is) but the romances seem a lot more crazy.

Yeah it was your fault if Bull betrayed you, but the possibility he could is still crazy

When is say psycho I mean crazy and Solas is definitely been spending too much time in wackoville.
