Apart from me not wanting to play humans or nobles in general, something in me is against Lavellan getting a tragic romance while Trevelyan gets the happy, stable, fluffy romance. What's good for the shem is good for the elf!

Haha, well fair is fair XD I did a female for each origin and I don't think I could make another Lavellan, Lavellan is Ithilia Lavellan and she is meant to make Solas extra guilty for his actions 

I do plan to have a male Lavellan eventually, he's for Cassandra!

I've gotten too attached to her. It's strange for me, it's usually my second play through I like the best/make canon.

I agree that blood magic is not necessary to drop the Veil. Wouldn't Solas have just gathered blood mages?

 

And to those who haven't played ME, they are worth it. The ending gets a bad wrap, but the journey is so good. And I wasn't big on shooters but I gave it a try and it's really fun!

 

Tired, so channeling Mordin out of sleepiness/possibly laziness.

 

Point was, mages don't need blood to be powerful, can just... channel magic to main caster from other mages.  If you side with mages, you do this with Breach.  Don't know what this will do to them removing Veil... could be backlash, unanticipated effects.  Self-sacrifice possible for modern gremlin-elves.  Too much magic lost.  And how would non-mages help if not blood sacrifice?  Not sure...

 

Modern elves may not be joining Solas.  Could be Qun spies, could be Fen'harel agents already infiltrated.  As I said, could have killed servants to take their places.

 

Dragon thought probably important.  People are spirits, spirits are people.  Dragons ruling once suggests dragons once more than now.  How?  Smarter?  Old Gods natural state of dragons pre-Veil?  Old Gods in dragony uthenera?

Mass Effect is different since you have the same character and the story is large-scale but also deeply personal.

...both of the saves I defeated were Trevelyans (awkward moment of realization).

I don't know what it is exactly, but there is something that makes me vastly prefer fantasy to sci-fi, no matter how similar.

 

Same here, but I know why. I greatly prefer history, folklore, nature, magic, mysticism, and medieval settings to the future, technology, robots, and metal and wire jungles. (Sci fi settings are always covered in metal; metal buldings, metal spaceships, metal space suits, metal lazer guns. I don't like it.

MayriyaNoori and I were tossing around the idea of the Old Gods being the original High Dragons, and Mythal's children.  It's not a super well-thought out theory yet...I'll have to mull it over a touch more.

As for Mass Effect, people have mentioned before but yes, there is space magic. (And playing a biotic is the closest you could get to being a mage in this setting. )

 

I prefer fantasy settings to sci-fi and I don't really play shooters much, but Mass Effect is pretty damn good. However, it was ME2 that really got me into the story and characters (and thus ME2 is my favorite of the series). Plus, that suicide mission was epic.

I was talking about Tali as well, but yes, Mass Effect had some writing shifts. I honestly don't know much about the Garrus romance other than how it begins, which I made very sure to not pick that response, and a couple of things I've seen in art.

 

To me, anyone but Liara is just wrong. Liara and Solas basically share both my heart and all of the wallpapers on every device I own.

Also, if something crazy happens and they pull a Mass Effect 2 on us where we keep the same protagonist but due to 'circumstances' we get all new companions, would you guys be able to make it through an entire Dragon Age game without romancing anyone in the (extremely slim) hope that the conclusion of Solavellan is worth it?

Well, my silly Shep waited for Kaiden. For Five. Whole. Years.

I think I'll need some sort of therapy if I have to wait that long to find out what happens for my Tiger Festival and her Fade-crossed lover. I'll probably have to take up some time and mind consuming hobby to keep the edge off of the angst and avoid temptation if we have an in-between game. I could figure out cold fusion and just keep it to myself. Or, I could attempt to discover the cure for that horrifying Martian water sickness. I've a feeling it might be needed soon.

Whatever it takes. Solas is totally worth it, and Tiger is nothing if not faithful. Cue Go West (And one of the sexiest male vocals I've ever heard and I don't care who knows it):

Aw, that's great. Knight-Enchanter sounds perfect too since Cassandra loves her ideals, and knight enchanter is almost a knight in shining armor who happens to be a mage. (And her previous love had been a mage.) If it works in party tactics, all the better.

Also, some characters mention that knight enchanters are highly respected in the Circle, and often guarded important figures like the Divine. While we know they're also based on Arcane Warriors of old, its another reason to make her happy. In fact, it makes both happy. Lavellan recovers some of his people's lost ancient techniques, and Cassandra canbe happy that he learned such a hot and respectable art. =)

ISo I'm slightly jealous of the folks who picked a canon romance that happens to get a wedding and such in Trespasser. They don't have to wait 3-5 years for what is in all likelyhood, even more angst.

Yep. I did that in ME2. Partly because it felt far too soon. It may have been 2 years for everyone else but Shep had been out of it so to her no time had really passed.

 

I might use other characters to see the romances but not with Aithne Lavellen

So finished my canon playthrough. I am not easily moved by games, but hell. "I will never forget you, my love", moved me rather lot... and made me realize, that any hope I might be harbouring for a/ a good resolve in their wicked relationship is in vain - he practically waved a definite goodbye there -, b/ I am not getting my Inquisitor back next game. It just, somehow, implies...

 

I know I shouldn't jump to conclusions but the game ending appears to be set precisely for that.

Which is a shame, because I'd love to play her again. And make him kneel.

 

No seriously, I am going through an artificial heartbreak here. My husband's gonna flip. Already hating on Solas.

Made dwarven character, to keep myself awaaaaay from Fade and feels, and am planning to antagonize that smooth Elvhen. No better cure for heartbreak than revenge... while keeping Solavellan in tact as I desire.

Also, a bit offtopic, but I've got freaked out yesterday. My 3 years old son was sitting in front of me and casually chatting up. It took me a bit to realize that he wasn't chatting up me, but someone, or something, next to me. I observed him and made sure he is always looking up same way. He was vividly arguing with empty space half a meter next to my shoulder. For about 5 minutes.

And all that just when I was giving a thought to the humanity's fascination with magic and trans-fixation with spiritual, whilst having none of it, at least for adults.

Gave me shivers for sure.
