That may be the prettiest of the ones I've seen (I haven't looked, just seen them in passing/posts/videos). Maybe in the future.
Well, who ate all the cookies in the blanket fort? Oh yeah, me. 'Coz I've been lurking here since January. This hellspiral never ends! Anyway, I brought y'all about ten cases of wine and a chocolate fondue fountain (because how can we be vhenan trash without a chocolate fondue fountain?!).
I'll just be over here dipping fudge into the fountain. Thanks for being here, really. Even if I've never said anything until now. ![]()

There's also some Dalish themed outwear using the new outfits, too. I see if I can find the link.

Are there strawberries for the fondue fountain?
Mortal in the sense that if you fatally stab him he'll die? Yes. Mortal in the sense that he ages? No I don't think so. He would have been dead already. Also, I got the sense that the sentinel elves didn't age too. Otherwise they wouldn't be kicking around still would they? Abelas says they linger and everytime the temple is breached their numbers dwindle, which gives me the idea that they aren't making more of themselves and that they have been dying off in battle, not age.
Besides, if their lives had shortened to the lifespan of the average Thedas elf I don't think Solas would see a difference between them and current elves?
I think Jayla explained this way better than me, but I will try to recap what she said.
When the fade and the waking world was one it gave elves immortality. The Veil cut the elves off from the fade, thus making them age. Solas and the other ancient elves, while in Uthenara, would not age as the fade would sustain them. However, as soon as they awaken they begin ageing again. If Solas destroyed the Veil it is possible that the elves would regain their immortality (although this is pure speculation obviously). I agree that the elves in the temple of Mythal are dying as a result of battle, but as Abelas also mentions that they only awake to battle it is likely they spend a lot of time in Uthenara or something similar.
As for why Solas does not consider the current elves "real" - I'm honestly not sure. He does concede that a romanced Lavellan could possibly be real, and she is not immortal. I'm thinking being real or not is more linked to a state of mind, perhaps an openness to knowledge or more abstract themes?
We don't need magic. There's still plenty of wonder out there
Dank memes?

Yep! Also any other dainty fruit type things you might require. Hey, I will pull my weight around here, don't worry. I take care of my falons.

See I assume, with the way Solas talks about spirits, that he also considers them 'his people'. But perhaps it is a matter of a state of mind: Being helpful, compassionate, loving, caring, respectful towards others, a thirst for knowledge, right to freedom = Real People
Corruption, selfishness, revenge, slavery, hate, disrespect = Fake or Non-people?

Why are fluffy things such a pain to try and write? Meanwhile, feels feels feels feels....that can sometimes just pour right out.
I think I figured this one out.
It's because it's only fluffy for Lavellan. Every sweet thing that was going on between her and Solas....you know the whole time he had his truckload of issues sitting right there in his mind while she's oblivious.
It is really depressing.......
k, back to catching up now. Sad catching up.

Which is why we hook Lavellan up with other people for fluff
Or in my case, depraved smut.

Oh, today I thought of this super sad, terrible, I should never do this to my Lavellan alternate Post Trespasser situation and I was like "Ohhhh dayuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum that would be good drama!"
I'm tempted.
And it doesn't involve crushing Zevran. So it's okay.
Kinda weird I'm more willing to destroy my Lavellan's heart again and can't even bear the thought of hurting Zevran's.
Mmm.

I did the Ultimate Sacrifice in Canon B with the Warden who romanced Zev...so I think I'm done causing him anguish. I still owe him a decent hookup in Canon A.

I wasn't coming at it from the "women are stupid" angle, mostly because there are guys around here that like Solas too despite his apocalyptic leanings. Which is why it's silly to assume that everyone who likes the character or posts in this thread is just a girl obsessed with the romance. The character is worth way more than a few kisses.
I wonder if the reason Solas is so rushed to do what he is doing is because he is mortal now, and if he dies then the whole of the ancient elves die with him. Like, millions of them trapped forever in uthenera, never more to wake. It's kind of tragic and horrifying to think on.
Alternatively, when he dies, the magic creating the Veil goes with him and something utterly catastrophic happens, worse than what he already plans.
Grim thought, I know.
yeah. It is truly sad. It would also play into his determination to see his old world return. While his world was in a downward spiral, the new world is literally killing themselves off. Entire dalish clans are being wiped out, Morrigan even says that in the future all magic and wonder will be gone/elvhen culture/dragons/magic will be lost to this world. How utterly depressing that is for mere mortals let alone Solas. Even I who has never seen magic and live in the real world regret that there is kind of no wonder left. Its all been explored/explained. I kind of envy people who have belief. What I wouldnt give for magical unicorns or fairies to exist lol (wouldnt give the world mind you, because even though there is no"magic" there is in the way of people/creativity/love and all that. So maybe thats what we can try to convince him with?)
To quote Javik from mass effect "stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters. The silence is your answer"
Sorry to be even more depressing but when you have ended your world (with who knows how many souls trapped) and see the new one you created ending itself, Its hard to hate Solas or not at least try to understand why he puts much more than honor on the line to stop what he sees as just a grim future of ashes and ruin the way thedas is heading now. And Im guessing he thinks he will see it and hear the silence....alone. That is if he is still immortal?
Gosh Im cheery. Sorry
Edit: ha, funny that while I was writing this people were bringing up Javik....spoooooky.
It is entirely possible Thedas will end without magic. It is also possible that it would simply become more like the real world that we live in.
If Thedas ends without Solas acting, then stopping him, no matter what the cost to your people is, would be wrong.
Worse thought: Thedas ends, but Solas is NOT mortal, and still lives through it, all alone and unable to die as everything crumbles to dust.
Because on the one hand if he gave up his plans to stay with Lavellan that whole age thing comes into play with the he doesn't and she does and most likely his children etc will too. While on the other hand he's going to destroy your world and (possibly) you with it. As I said, it's a 50/50 thing.
I dunno how to describe it honestly.
To be honest, I'm assuming that even if he destroys Lavellan's world it doesn't mean he can't save HER, but in the same thought I think he probably might not want to put Lavellan through that so he may destroy her along with it anyway.
If I recall right he tells all the other Inquisitors to live well while there is time but he doesn't say that to Lavellan. Kind of left me questioning it.

Besides, if their lives had shortened to the lifespan of the average Thedas elf I don't think Solas would see a difference between them and current elves?
We don't really know if their lives are shortened or not, but from Abelas's codexes, we do know that there are, or have been, shemlen Sentinels who were born to the ancient Sentinels post-Veil. Abelas laments that they can't understand what Mythal is/was, and they can't understand what was lost.
It's pretty clear that whatever connection the ancient elves had to the Fade, they no longer have. Whether they are immortal still or not, I don't know. Abelas basically said that everyone's life being so short made everything meaningless. "It is meaningless. We endure." So I'd assume he's immortal, somehow...
I wonder if it's just those who entered uthenera when the Veil went up? Those elves will be immortal, provided they survived and are able to reawaken--which is apparently much more difficult to do than it would have been pre-Veil. Any elf not in uthenera at the time will be mortal, and elves who go into utnenera after the creation of the Veil stand a higher chance of dying or simply never waking than they would have prior to the Veil. Pure speculation on my part.
Feels good to be in the blanket fort. It's warm and comfy in here. Anyone got kittens? I could really use some kittens.

Aneth ara... You didn't eat the ones with the raisins, right?
I look back at everything written yesterday now that I am in a coffee hangover and the only thing that keeps coming to my mind is why the hell are some people so intent on teaching us we are wrong for liking a character just because they don't like them or what they plan to do? Arguing the point over how Solas is doing something bad and wants to indirectly commit genocide as if we aren't very well aware of that fact. Pretending it's because we're silly girls besotted in love. Like, seriously?
Yep.
And although it should have absolutely no bearing upon all of the many good points this discussion can bring up, I can say with an absolute certainty that not all f!Lavellan-playing Solasmancers are 'girls'. So even in some alternative universe where this gendered 'ew girls like crazy boys lol! they so silly!' idiocy was accurate -- which is not our universe -- the assumptions presented about 'what [silly] girls want' would still be false.
(Sheeeet, it's almost like people can play characters who are not them. Next I'll be claiming people can write character who aren't them, too.)
I wasn't going to bother to get into it with the troll yesterday since I'd much rather briefly mock and then ignore them, exactly as I did, but... yeah. And I'm still not going to really go into it because I... honestly just don't have the energy*, but I figured I'd chime in very briefly with that one very small bullet point, at the very least. I think all the other points either have been or could be better covered by people who aren't me.
* no I really don't, I'm always half a step from falling over at my desk
-snip adorable kittens-
*grabs a handfull of kittens and proceeds to cuddle*
Alternatively, when he dies, the magic creating the Veil goes with him and something utterly catastrophic happens, worse than what he already plans.
I do wonder how likely a scenario like that would be, since he was willing to give it up and be with Lavellan. Though as I said elsewhere, he could have just wanted to be happy for awhile and die with everyone else. But then you also have to wonder, if it is a case the world will end, or something catastrophic will happen, or even if he has his people locked away somewhere and wants to wake them up but can't until the Veil is down... why would he not just tell us? All he says is that he wants to restore the world of his time. Fair enough. Modern people may die. Not so great. But we were never presented with a "do or die" type of situation for either the world or a million trapped elves.
I'd like to think there's more to the story than crushing guilt and duty, but maybe that really is all it is? Is that enough to carry the story in a satisfying way?
I think I figured this one out.

With Solavellan stuff, Trespasser hasn't ruined anything in that way for me. I've just never written much about them that wasn't full of feels and angst.I have just about one entire Solavellan fluff story and another that's mostly fluffy. If anything, I just have more feels and angst to unpack there and some of it has been dribbling out. Only it's also aftermath stuff too, and her adjustment while knowing so much more now.
What I'm trying to finish is this story and give some warm, fluffy moments to my Lavellan and her first love. Yet fluffy things can be a challenge. It's just not flowing the way I want it to yet, even though I know what I plan to happen. I just want to give these girls some loving and warm moments before I have to eventually break them up at some point.
Though that isn't for quite some time after this story.

Could be, but it seems that creating it in the first place weakened him so much he needed to sleep for millenia. He must've been putting his life at risk to do it, so I don't think he'd make the Veil in such a way that he has to be alive to power it up.
Worse thought: Thedas ends, but Solas is NOT mortal, and still lives through it, all alone and unable to die as everything crumbles to dust.
That would be horrible. But I think some other immortals are still left who might also live. The Evanuris in particular do not die easily. They don't seem like pleasant company either, but who knows, given an eternity he might make friends with Dirthamen.
It's also possible that he plans for Thedas to end and for him to be the only survivor, after which he will create new elves using spirits.

They can give the baby a bath and put him to sleep with lullabies
Then Nirwen comments on what a great singing voice Nehn has or something.

Somehow the thought of him doing that makes me imagine a horribly broken person who is literally mad and trying to tape a dead lover back together after accidentally blowing them up. They are crying and unable to understand why it's not working as they slip slowly towards oblivion. Horrifying.
Or I guess that is kind of the plot of Frankehooker, so at least someone was able to make the idea funny. Sort of.
