*shrugs* It looks like the majority of us can't be as optimistic as you. Doesn't mean you won't turn out right in the end. We're all still going on supposition here, after all.
More like we need Fen'Harel.
No point trying to argue with haters.
I
you.

We need the optimism! Some of us tend to go on very dark tangents and it's good to remember that it might not be as bad as some fear

I like this song and I was thinking whether to use it but I feel like it fits more Shepard's story in mass effect.

It's like...if I get all the horrible dark thoughts (massive blood sacrifice, dying alone, etc.) out of my system now, they won't plague me as badly for...however long we need to wait until DA4. Does that make any sense?

Oooh, I love Madilyn Bailey! I always think of this song for Dragon Age: Inquisition. Not for Solas specifically, mostly for all the friendships, and especially Dorian ![]()

So, it's some sort of purging ritual? I can go with that
Also, you guys are an awesome springboard to see if my headcanons about lore and possible future make sense.

Also, I can't remember who recommended The Dread Wolf's Heart yesterday, but thank you so much! It was so damn good! It made me laugh and cry and it ended well. All I could have wanted of a fanfic
I spent all day reading yesterday.
I am enjoying it too, spent most of today with my kids sitting in living room and reading ![]()
Also gives me a lot of hope for... non-canon story I might forge up.
It's really good. Apotheosis was great as well (feels.)
TME laying around here too.
Regarding immortality in DA, to me it is the inability to age, but not the inability to die. You can be killed, or commit a suicide, still (Mythal..)
Also, I kinda headcanon the one of the great boons and burdens in the same time which came from drinking the Well might be some kind of immortality of such. Just to calm my spirit for now. Indulging myself.

If the gangue relates to the Blight and to Red Lyrium, I wonder if, in the old days where the Titans were awake and the dwarves connected to them, they might not have been almost litterally the Stone's immune system. They fought and contained the Gangue and kept it from spreading and infecting everything. But then, the evanuris fought the Titans and won and decided to mine them for lyrium. They severed the dwarves's consciouness from their Titans and made them forget (so they wouldn't retaliate?). In making them forget though, they prevented them from accomplishing their most important function, that of stopping the gangue from spreading. And thus, the Blight started infecting things. Perhaps that place in the Deep Road we visited in Trespasser was one of the first. When Mythal and her people realized the gangue/Blight was spreading and they had no tools to stop it (that even they could become infected) they closed the mine and tried to get everyone to forget about it.
But some wouldn't leave it well alone (Andruil, I'm looking at you there). There was power in that new form of lyrium and some were power-mad enough to use that power in spite of the risk of corruption. Now, the evanuris being extremely powerful, I would expect the corruption to be much slower than usual, but still it happened and there was no cure for it. They killed Mythal as the voice or reason against these incredibly dangerous experiment with the Blight. Solas panicked and figured out the only solution was to lock them away along with everything they'd corrupted already (I'm squarely in the camp of Black City=Corrupted Arlathan, or at least remnants of it). In the end though, as long as the Titans sleep and the dwarves have forgotten their purpose (and lack the power to do anything anyway without their link to their Titans) the Blight will spread and it threatens to cover the whole world. Again, the Grey Wardens are only buying Thedas some time. Ultimately, they will fail. And now that actual Red lyrium has surfaced, I believed Thedas is running out of time. Bringing down the veil might not be a solution to that particular problem, as it predates Mythal's murder and might possibly be older than Solas himself.
That sounds interesting! So Solas bringing down the veil is also healing the dwarfs and they will be healing the Titans and thus the blight. Seems a bit to easy storywise. And even if the dwarfs are whole again, the issue about making them forget was created before the veil. They might not remember their purpose even when the 'hivemind' is coming back. And there are not that many dwarfs left alive. Thedas immune system seems a bit down as it is.
I find it lacking that we cannot have a discussion with Solas about the blight. There was so much time during the game for plucking elfroots - I sure would have asked him about one of the biggest problems in Thedas, too! Let's assume the veil has to go for Thedas to survive at all. The resulting chaos will kill many and leave most in no condition to fight the remnants of the blight. So even if the Evanuris are sealed away tightly in another 'space pocket' and pose no immediate thread, Thedas needs people familar with that veil-less situation to survive, people able to act and calm the chaos - people like Solas' people. Just a theorie.

Darn, that's almost precisely my Fen'Inan's eye colour. Now that totally makes her name weird. Eyes of the Wolf. Stolen from the rightful owner, mayhap?

That's the thing though. Since the problem dates back from the time the Evanuris went to war with the Titans and "hunted the pillars of the Earth" and thus predates the veil by centuries, if not millenia, bringing down the veil won't fix anything. The veil isn't responsible for the dwarves losing their connection to the titans, as the dwarves aren't connected to the fade at all. The Evanuris seem to be the ones responsible. I know it's been posited that the veil's responsible for the titans going to sleep, but I actually believed that happened way before. Else, Mythal couldn't have set a lyrium extraction mine in the Deep Roads, only to close it down when someone realized they were doing something really dangerous (blight-related, probably).
If my theory is right, unless and until the Titans wake and the dwarves (at least part of them. Surface dwarves at this point are too far removed from the Stone to ever be brought back into the fold) find their connection to them again (and gain power from it, see Valta), no one has a chance in heck of containing the Blight. And if ever one or more titan is ever complete corrupted and wakes up? Well... the Blight as Thedas has known them before would look like child's play...
