Darn, that's almost precisely my Fen'Inan's eye colour. Now that totally makes her name weird. Eyes of the Wolf. Stolen from the rightful owner, mayhap?

wow that's cool :D My lavellan was just called Ellana. Idk I just wanted to keep the original name as I did in ME. Though in Mass Effect the female's name is Jane Shepard and since my real name is close to Jane and all foreigners calls me Jane so.. XD yeah..

But my Ellanas eyes are ice blue. :3 And white hair. She was inspired by Halla mother Gilanain.

btw do you have a picture of Fen'Inan? :3 I would love to see her

*shifty eyes*

It's like...if I get all the horrible dark thoughts (massive blood sacrifice, dying alone, etc.) out of my system now, they won't plague me as badly for...however long we need to wait until DA4.  Does that make any sense?

Same here. I also try my best to support TO even if I don't share the optimism 100%. We need more hope in this hell.

I fancy myself a moderate, I don't think my thoughts are the darkest I've seen around here. I think in the end the answer will probably be somewhere in the middle between optimisim and utter despair.

That's the thing though. Since the problem dates back from the time the Evanuris went to war with the Titans and "hunted the pillars of the Earth" and thus predates the veil by centuries, if not millenia, bringing down the veil won't fix anything. The veil isn't responsible for the dwarves losing their connection to the titans, as the dwarves aren't connected to the fade at all. The Evanuris seem to be the ones responsible. I know it's been posited that the veil's responsible for the titans going to sleep, but I actually believed that happened way before. Else, Mythal couldn't have set a lyrium extraction mine in the Deep Roads, only to close it down when someone realized they were doing something really dangerous (blight-related, probably).

If my theory is right, unless and until the Titans wake and the dwarves (at least part of them. Surface dwarves at this point are too far removed from the Stone to ever be brought back into the fold) find their connection to them again (and gain power from it, see Valta), no one has a chance in heck of containing the Blight. And if ever one or more titan is ever complete corrupted and wakes up? Well... the Blight as Thedas has known them before would look like child's play...

You are right, tearing down the veil will probably not help the dwarfs. Something still doesn't seem to fit. Isn't Andruil bringing back the blight from her hunting in the void? Maybe during the war against the Titans she infected one of the Titans with the blight? Or during the mining? Or do we have a reference that the blight was always there with the Titans?

Though gameplaywise I have to admit that facing a blighted Titan would be awesome!  Or having a non-blighted Titan in your party. A girl can dream.

OMG...I didn't realize how appropriate these lyrics were when I posted. It's my new Solavellan theme song...It's perfect, the FEELS...expresses my emotions perfectly...help...overwhelmed...

There is no reference anywhere that I know of the origins of the Blight, no. My guess is it's either always been there, or at least predates the Evanuris/Titans war. If the Titans are alive, maybe it's a sickness of the song they produce. Something that comes naturally as the harmonies of the song warp with time and distance. Who knows. Another theories could be that the Evanuris created the Blight first as a weapon against the Titans, but although I first thought that might be the right answer, I tend to doubt it now.

As for the void, I admit I have no idea what it is. The inside of a sleeping titans maybe? But, the one we visited was beautiful, not anything I'd call a Void. The inside of a corrupted Titan then? Perhaps. It would explain how Andruil brought the Blight back from it. And the codex says she went there to hunt. What kind of strange creature could inhabit a void-like blighted Titan I wonder...

As for the last bit, I'd love being able to converse with a Titan directly, but I think they're way too big to actually move around. Hell, they seem to be a empty space surrounded by sentient Stone, so they're unlike any other living creature we've seen in Thedas. I'm uncertain they can actually move the way we understand it. A connected dwarf like Valta though might become a complanion. Again, I'm not sure how that would work as a dwarf going to the surface seems to lose all sense of the Stone very quickly, so a connected dwarf wouldn't be able to stay connected if they left for any length of time. I don't like the Deep Roads enough to spend an entire game underground lol.

So, it's some sort of purging ritual? I can go with that :D Also, you guys are an awesome springboard to see if my headcanons about lore and possible future make sense.

Yeah.  It's basically a purging ritual.  And it's working, I'm slowly coming around on Solavellan fluff again.  Now that I have a fancy dress mod, I of course need to headcanon how she got to be a pretty pretty princess in the first place! :D

Personally, I think the Primeval Thaig from DA2 is either a blighted Titan, or the corpse of a blighted Titan. The place is so old there's no record of dwarves living there, so maybe it predates written dwarven records, and originates from when they lived inside the Titans. It produces a lot of red lyrium. And my pet theory is that the Profane are basically the Sha-Brytol dwarven guardians were either 1) sealed up with the Titan 2) trapped within when the Evanuris killed it.

Major DLC spoilers!!!

Spoiler

It's fine to post these out of spoilers.  We dropped the tagging ages ago.

AS people were debating on Solas' eye color before... here is a BIG picture of Solas' eyeball (NO MODS)

solas__eyeball_by_painhidanfan-d9bnw20.p

So pretty.  It's been ages since I saw his eyes without mods (the one drawback to using eye mods it how it changes everyone's eyes.  Wouldn't trade having my modded eyes, though.)

Mythal killed a Titan. Maybe the blight is a consequence of a dead Titan rotting away? I also had the thought of the void being the inside of a Titan and did not post it because of the beauty we saw in the DLC. But the inside of a dead Titan? When the song is silent and life is dying away? That could be closer to the point. And imagine all the carrion eaters that might make a living there! Definetely a hunt worth of a crazy goodess!

When being inside the Titan we did fight a, hm, 'guardian'. That one in a little smaller size would fit for me as a companion (Shale-like). Though you have a point that they cannot move far from the Titan itself. And I also don't want to spent to much of the game underground!

I'm the one who came out of Trespasser with a lot of hope, so I ultimately feel even more firmly in the TO corner.  There's a lot of possibility for dark things, yes, and there will inevitably be many feels to come, but hope is a thing that is real and helped by Cole. ^_^

The song isn't quiet though. The Blight itself has a Song, perhaps a twisted or "dead" version of the living song of a Titan. Argh... I wish I understood that whole "song" thing better.  Or even WHAT exactly is a Titan. It's alive in some way since it can be killed, and it's sentient, but apart from that? Does the Song give rise to the sentience, or is it the sentience who makes the Song? Who knows...

Edit : A dead Titan's interior becoming a Void i could also see, but that would mean there is more than one, unless the Evanuris only ever managed to kill the one Titan from the murals. Blight as decay of a Titan's "consciousness" (for lack of a better word, since Stone doesn't quite decay) could also definitely work. You kill a Titan (they might be like the Evanuris themselves in that killing one completely isn't really possible), you get the Blight spreading from the twisting Song. That actually makes some sense.

I'll say that the ending of Trespasser made me also quite hopeful in the future. The road will be a hard one, but it's definitely not hopeless unless the writer takes a sharp left turn I can't imagine them doing. If it was hopeless, we wouldn't have the option to work on saving him from himself.

I think the Titan's a bit like a living volcano.  It can be actively reshaping the Stone, or just asleep, or hibernating, or straight-up dead.  As for the song, it comes from the lyrium according to Justice all the way back in Awakening.  Lyrium is the Titan's life-blood, so I would guess that song makes the sentience since the lyrium continues to "sing" even after it's been mined from the Titan.

Honestly, the worst part now will be the frikking WAITING. For years. And at this point I think I'm more worried about... dunno... WWIII breaking out or EA/Bioware bankrupting or not getting enough funds, or getting cancelled for some inexplicable reason - because as long as things go well and the world stays stable, I'm not really that worried about DA4 from writing or development perspective :D

Nope, same. The red was a bit much, but I liked the idea of formal military wear. The Inquisition was definitely worlds away from the coiffed and begowned nobles and had no problem showing them as much. That my Lavellan could play their Game and win it without needing a mask -- of any sort -- to hide behind? Priceless.

If that's the case, if would mean that anywhere where Lyrium grows in enough quantity there is a possibility for sentience to form, and so for a new Titan to be born (so to speak). It would also mean it's pretty much impossible to kill one, apart from perhaps mining all the Lyrium in an area, until so little is left that it's not strong enough to have a conscience. If that's true though, calling it "the blood of a titan" like in Descent wouldn't be quite accurate as it would be way more than that.

I picked a dress that's the same color as my Inquisition's formal wear.  So everyone's in black and gold, Lavellan's just got a dress version of it.  I tried out some of the other dresses, and felt really weird having her stick out from the rest of the Inquisition.

Titan consciousness might be an emergent property of lyrium.  And it might be the sort of thing where you need at least a minimum concentration of lyrium to 1) birth a Titan or 2) keep a Titan alive.  Kind of like how you need at least a certain amount of dust and gas to collect before a star will form.

I still think there's more to lyrium than we've been told.  It's magic made physical, but magic is a property of the Fade, which is by its nature NOT physical.  It doesn't quite add up.  Maybe lyrium originates from fragments of the Fade that were trapped on this side when Solas raised the Veil?  I dunno.  I'm rambling now :)

If the Evanuris fought Titans, the lyrium predates the Veil. Could Thedas itself be alive? Teh Fade could be its dreaming mind, lyrium its physical manifestation. And as you say, one of the properties of lyrium, when in sufficient quantity, could be to develop a sentience.

But then, you have the Dragons... the blood of the world... and I'm not even sure where I'm going with this.
