Coincidentally, I just found this.

I am fluff writing! But must interrupt for a supermarket trip. Was supposed to go visit my mom this weekend but there are flood and rain warnings all over due to the hurricane residual stuff, so food restocking is needed.

Oh, yeah, I heard something about a hurricane or something, but it just rained a bit.

Sorry you couldn't visit your mom :(

Ahhjhhh thank you guys! I'd like all your happy birthday posts but I ran out just before page 5225, just my luck.

The elven spy thing is actually what bothers me more than there was a security breach.

Part of what makes it work is the elves have convenient alibis of being war refugees, but I think another huge part of it is this series running theme of "elves/servants slip through undetected because they're considered beneath notice." Remember Friends of Red Jenny, and how they operate?

What bothers me though is my "canon" worldstate and my Inquisitor especially did everything they could to improve the lives of elves everywhere (sided with Fiona, Briala, Leliana as Divine...) and the world's status quo still says "knife-ears are beneath notice." So the elven spies still moved through the elf-led, elf-friendly Inquisition at Halamshiral undetected because everyone still thinks elven servants aren't worth looking twice at.

Glad to know that much as things change, they stay the same.  -_-

Ugh, I know. I have the same problem with mage freedom choices - I have consistently opted for world-changing choices which improve things dramatically for them (liberating Ferelden's circle, siding with mages in Kirkwall, having the mages as free allies in the Inquisition, setting up the mage-friendly Leliana at the Divine), with many of my characters being mages, but it's still irksome how little it's done to change the world, how the circles still bloody come back, when they should be pretty dead.

I know we primarily influence the decisions of mere individuals - although important ones - in a world which is made up of communities and civilisations, and I don't want to deny NPCs agency in order to get my way (I can understand Vivienne setting up a competing organisation under her name because the works for her character), but I'd like to at least make a dent in people's impressions of mages.

It has been raining all day and windy, but NJ has a lot of warnings and such and I think it may get worse there before it improves. They're in a coastal-ish region. I was looking forward to seeing her but I will go soon.

Ok, here's another new Solas video I made.  This one isn't blocked in most of the countries in the world on copyright grounds, unlike the last one I posted XD.

It's to "Teardrop" by Massive Attack :)

Oh, same here. I'm slightly more emotionally invested in elves, but if given the chance I always help mages too. (And, as it so happens, helping mages and elves often goes hand-in-hand.  ^_^ )

Fat load of good that does.  <_<

While I understand logically that they can't take too many dramatically different worldstates into account when constructing the next game, it kind of sucks that they market these games as you making diverse choices with meaningful consequences that shape the world (that, along with great story and characters, being the main reason I picked up DAO in the first place), only to tone back on or remove those changes. Doesn't matter what we do to help the mages, the Circles always come back. Doesn't matter what we do to help the elves, they remain a "beneath notice" minority who're so downtrodden they'll join the brain-washing Qunari or world-ending cult "agents of Fen'Harel" to seek a better life.

I've had a thing running through my head for awhile and it's driving me nuts. So, opinions please!

We know that Flemythal has had this Dark Ritual thing going on. But for how long? And how many souls has she " cleansed" in this way? And to what purpose? I'm running on the thought that it's all part of her long-game vengeance angle. How much of this does Solas know, if he knows anything? Is this a possible reason for him to be on this whole rushing carefully yet as quickly as he can? I have a hunch that something worse is in the wings and that's what is forcing his hand. If, as we've heard in the Well videos, Mythal controls the Calling, then it seems to me that she's directing events that bring Archdemons to the surface. Why?

Well, that was a waste of my time.

And seriously, as much as people hate Solas, we may need to establish security check points here. It's kinda wild out there.

Here comes **UNPOPULAR OPINION**

The Solas hate really doesn't bother me, I like the fact that people care about his character (unlike say Corypheus's) even if it is passionate fiery hate.

Plus, to be fair my Solas loving friends, people's hate of Solas isn't entirely unjustified. I see many good reasons people hate him, I don't, but that's because I have an overly optimistic Lavellan pulling me through and I can appreciate him as a well written and interesting character.

It's not that unpopular, and I agree. I'm unfazed by Solas hate, but it's also a waste of my time to read about it or argue when it seems that most people who purely hate him do so due to emotional reasoning. It's also annoying if people come here to rant throughtlessly.

As for hate being justified - it doesn't make sense to purely hate him, but people still do because of emotions, and sure, their emotions are justified. It would be a boring game if you could only play it one way and everyone would hold the same opinion.

Agreed. I like the character because he's interesting, but atm, I'm in the mood to kill him. (Still don't hate him though). I don't think most others hate his character as far as his concept, just in roleplay. Lots of people actively roleplay on this forum.

They're angry because they feel betrayed and dislike that their characters had to have the wool pulled over their eyes on all of this. Understandable, especially when you're not one of the fans that wanted to bang him ;)

Yup. Although I understand if people felt that way right after playing trespasser. It did take me a couple of days to rethink the situation. Blame Solas for being vague.

Lol. Was that on purpose?

Hate is an emotional thing  :P I'd be more shocked if people hated him for no emotional reasons.

I think it makes perfect sense for you to roleplay an Inquisitor that hates him, and some people are more immersed with their characters than others.

I have a hard time understanding hate, myself. Not liking a character is one thing, despising their plans is another, following along with dislike for an antagonist is expected. But acting emotional and personally harmed or betrayed by what the potential bad guy is going to do is really kind of odd to me. I guess there must be something to a dumb old bald elf taking a sense of agency away from some people who are used to being the hero in control of everything. Roleplaying your Inquisitor as being really p*ssed and just waiting for the chance to kill Solas is different than acting like Solas came into the real world and kicked your dog.

Of course, a lot of us had mixed feelings right after Trespasser, so if someone's just finished and don't know what they are feeling I fully understand that. I was there once myself. :P

Yeah, definitely! Honestly I think I'm going to have trouble roleplaying friend Inquisitors that wish to redeem him. What he's planning on doing is crossing a line from a normal "you're not a bad guy we can overcome this", plus he keeps (in my opinion) himself so detached from everyone other than <3 Lavellan and Cole (and even them, but he lets his guard down), so it's harder for my Inquisitor's to see his potential goodness/redemption and decide it's worth more than his potential for murder-y mayhem.

Complete coincidence, I assure you. ;)

I've no problem with emotions (I might feel some of them when I read about Felassan). And people can RP whatever they want, I RP a borderline sociopath for fun, I just try to make it clear when it's RP, so I talk about her in 3rd person :)

I was just curious......

.....and don't get me wrong....I understand if someone doesn't like Solas. Okay, cool......some people actually present it in reasonable format.

But some of the stuff out there......it's like reading angry whispers from someone who took the time to hop factions in WoW just to whisper you about how angry they are that you killed them 3 times in a BG.

Like WTF.
