I know it's been a few pages now, but I wanted to add to the discussion about where Solas could have gone to sleep since I haven't seen this theory yet. Although I agree with Soundermount as a likely place, my own headcanon has him sleeping in or most probably below Skyhold, in what's left of the old elvhen structure (Skyhold as we see it beind a much younger structure built by humans over older ruins). After all, it's been hinted quite strongly that Skyhold is where Solas raised the veil. The way I see it, he was so exhausted afterward that I don't see him traveling elsewhere to go into uthenera. So, unless his followers then moved him somewhere else, it makes the most sense that he'd have slept in Skyhold proper.

Also, I have been cooking a few thoughts and theory about The Titans, the Song, the Blight and possibly Flemmythal. Will get back to it once I'm a little more awake.

Oooh! This was what I always assumed! Sundermount didn't even occur to me! Because, as you say, of its connection with the creation of the Veil and because of the blown out wall in the cells. An ancient elvhen structure buried by time and eventually built over by humans (cf. much real world archaeology). So Solas, waking up, finds no way out, making him the freakishly strong power Gatsi mentioned, blasting his way out of the now-buried chamber/temple/place.

My list is growing.

*sniffle*

Why do books have to cost money?

/cry

One of my favourites is the Daughter of the Empire-trilogy by Raymond E Feist and Janny Wurts. Fascinating story, culture and world setting. Female protagonist that you follow throughout most of her life. Lots of feels, I have reread it eight times

Feist has written many books taking place in that world, and with some recurring characters, but they aren't nearly as good imo. The combination of Feist and Wurts however is epic.

If you want to get a head start on the Stormlight Archives prerequisite reading, Warbreaker is available online for free on Sanderson's site. :)

I will admit I always feel like people are missing part of the history of Skyhold when they describe it as looking pretty much the same in the times of elvhenan. It's not! The keep as it stands now as been rebuild a couple of time already. If I remember well, there are traces of tevinter architecture and the current buildings are of Alamarri origins (I think). There are still traces of the old elvhen structures, but probably the only surviving parts by now are the location and some of the foundations (possible the War Table too? It's been a while since I checked Skyhold's codices). I like to think there are underground parts to Skyhold though that we haven't seen in the game, though.

Didn't think the blown up dungeon could be Solas though. Interesting though.

Whatever happens though, change of that magnitude can't happen smoothly. It wouldn't be realistic according to the worldbuilding, and would be damn anticlimatic.

Of course, that's what I wrote in the previous post, I'm certain many will die as I am certain it will happen anyway.

I just hope there is a way to stabilize the situation by pre (and perhaps post-sundering) actions, I know a lot of people hated ME3 ending (as did I) but I don't mind EMS-like system in DA4 (with better implemented consequences).

I'm agreeing with the Sundermount theories offered up here. Worth noting that the cave that Merrill's demon buddy is in is called "Pride's End", and that there's one of those multi-armed fat statues that's been linked to the ancient elves, the Dales, and Dumat-worshipers. The 'Thing in the Dark' that's caused no end of theorizing.

On a RL note,

Spoiler

Good god. I hope it's just a toothless threat, but better be safe and stay at home. The prof will understand. I hope. I mean, I doubt he wants to end up riddled with holes too. Post a hello here tomorrow, alright?

So, I have been hunting for a really epic fantasy series to start reading and was wondering if any folks here had any good suggestions.

I am in need of a new book addiction.

The Riddle-Master Trilogy. I'd try to sell it, but someone's already done a better job explaining why these books are so good: http://flabbadence.t...at-youre-always

Edit: OH! And if you've never read it before, The Last Unicorn.

Also anything written by Le Guin.

The whole of Kirkwall area is special it has: Sundermount, a giant blood magic rune underneath the city, near Forgotten Thaig, Dirthamen's Temple is within it's borders, the Tevinters built the place because there was "something there"  ... more.

Written in a Fereldan dialect, dated to the Late Divine Age:

"The structures here are all Fereldan, with stone ferried up by a typical madman. Whatever was here, whatever natural spire, it was flattened for a floor. But I know the common shapes, and I will erect them as was custom. And we shall see what the elves wished to see.  The note below is in a different, uneducated hand.

I finish this for Master Ganot. His workings brought lightning. Much lightning.  The rods are pools of metal now, and all his workings burned.  Master was also struck."

This tells us at least two things.  1) The buildings in Skyhold were Fereldan at least as early as the Late Divine Age (8 ages before the Dragon Age).  2) An attempt to reconstruct the original elven design recreated massive lightening rods, perhaps an indication of how the Veil was created.

Provenance unknown:

"Skyhold has not just been claimed time and again, but sacked as well....long after the place had been built over."

So we know that Skyhold has undergone layers of destruction and rebuilding.  If this was written after the codex from the Divine Age, it could even be Fereldan buildings on top of Fereldan buildings.

We know there is an open cliff face and a waterfall behind the location of the current cells.  All that would be required for Solas to have remained there is some enclosed structure build into the mountain Skyhold is sitting on.

hahaha I created a qunari female as well and probably romancing Sera... can't decide between josephine and sera and I modded her. I actually think she is very pretty!

I can't create decent Qunari. I'll stick with elves. I can at least make elves I'm happy with.

So, last night, I went to bed after spilling out some more/minor changes to that post-Trespasser Solas related fic I mentioned the other day. i was writing about thoughts after Solas leaves and the immediate after.

I must have fallen asleep on my left arm because I jolted awake around 5am and couldn't feel my arm or hand, but at the same time, it took a bit to register, so I think I was making some noises (can't tell if this was in my head or if I actually did) and thinking/saying Solas did it. It was Solas.

Then I realized what was going on, moved up off my arm and waited for the feeling to fully return and the rest of me to calm physically so I could get more sleep. :D

Lol, so many people didn't like his baldness, but that's one of the least flattering pictures of him. I have to admit that I didn't think he was attractive at first based on that picture.

I know I may be wrong, but for some reason I really have this feeling that his role is definitely going to be far more important than, people give him credit for.

If Solas needs to return where he did it the first time, maybe we'll see Skyhold again in DA4 :P

From Brass_Buckles

we've seen moderates, we've seen liberationists, and we've seen Chantry apologists.  We haven't had an isolationist before.  I think it might be kind of interesting--but again, would likely mean Solas is NOT a romantic interest (which, well, disappointing but I repeat we will survive if that is the case)

And now the Solas thread is all "We will survive, I repeat, we will survive his romance!"  *wipes eyes*

Lol, so many people didn't like his baldness, but that's one of the least flattering pictures of him. I have to admit that I didn't think he was attractive at first based on that picture.

I thought he was so ugly at first. he brought up my old creeped-out feelings towards Mr. Clean. I remember making a comment saying that he looks like the spawn of Aang the last airbender and Spock and that I'd rather romance some gross thing or another rather than him. I was really disappointed when he was announced as a romance option.

And then I got the game and right when he started talking about the fade like "ah yes, so amaze. wow" my ovaries immediately exploded. I instantly thought he was the sexiest line of codes I'd ever seen. Then I found out he's Fen'Harel midway through from spoilers, took a week to have a slight mental breakdown, and then started on the hellspiral. I sorta wish he was just Mr. Clean so I wouldn't have been put through Solavellan hell. so painful  ... ;-;
