Do you guys remember the dialog with Solas about the Well of Sorrows where you can tell him you trust your friends, and he replies 'I know that mistake well enough to carve the angles of her face from memory'? I know some folks here take that as a figure of speech, but I've always thought it was a literal person. Maybe one of the Evanuris pretended to be on their side and then made certain Solas couldn't come to Mythal's defense?

Or maybe one of his own people betrayed him and Mythal to the Evanuris.  It would also explain why he took Felassan's perceived betrayal so poorly.

The VERRRRRY first thing that got my interest was that freakin smirk he had lurkin in the back of the war table concept art. It was like [intensely interested in 0.4 seconds] SOMETHING HELLA IS UP WITH THIS GUY I CAN TELL

^This. So much.

... The guy can't even seem to make himself fully trust a woman that is apparently the love of his life. So I'd say that OF COURSE there was some kind of intensely painful, personal betrayal.

That makes sense. Perhaps when Solas lectures the Inquisitor about large organizations becoming prone to betrayal and corruption, he was remembering his own personal experiences from leading the slave rebellion.

Man, I really wish there was a book or game with Solas in the time of ancient Arlathan acting as the protagonist. I know everyone hates him now, but if he really did keep the Evanuris from destroying the world, then he was a hero back then, at least to some.

We keep saying 'Solas created the Veil' like it wasn't a big deal, but that must have been a crazy undertaking. Is that how he ended up with an orb? Why is he the only one who could have borne the Anchor without it killing him? I am super sad we probably won't get any concrete answers for years yet.

Oh man.  Disney feels AND Solas feels.  Almost too much.

This is my sad Solavellan Disney song:

And this is the fluffy one:

She started off very anti-Circle, like yours, and mellowed out a bit over the course of the game.  By DA:I, I'd say she's a liberal Aequitarian.  She supports rights and freedoms for mages, but through reform instead of revolution.  And believes that the Circles are still necessary to educate young mages.

Mine supported the rebellion, but not Anders' actions (in fact, she has a great deal of guilt due to the fact that she was the one who encouraged him to be more active in mage rights and pretty much set everything in motion).  She also believes that if there is going to be a Circle then it should be governed by the mages, and fully supports the Collage of Enchanters.

I cannot wait for some fluff, Illyria!  Mostly because everything I write lately is full of Solas angst.  Case in point: http://archiveofouro...apters/11338081

Same.  My Amell and Hawke pretty much paved the way to mage/templar hell with good intentions <_<  Asking Anora to free the Ferelden Circle, encouraging Anders, etc.  My Lavellan got stuck cleaning up their mess.

I'm at least hoping that quizzy's the one to deal with Solas; I'm sick of passing the buck onto the next poor PC.

Poor Solas :(  The dark future sucks for everyone, but because it's Solas, everything is worse for him.

I'm finally starting to pull myself out of the angst and write happy-ish Solavellan.

I've finished mobile doodling! My husband thinks I am a laughing stock.

So be it.

Shameless selfinsert.

Edit: Well, the odds. I am first, so why not. I am re-learning drawing, so have patience with me. ;)

This is supposed to be after vallaslin removal, before Coryphish fight. Hence why he seems a bit on the cold side.

I've been at least back in the Trespasser-era present and not writing about events that happened years before. Dribbling out bits and the whole dream/sleep thing this morning gave me a good laugh (at least I was alone for accusing Solas of doing something to my arm). I'm not quite fond of what is coming out at the moment but it's a foundation. That's what drafts are for.

Maybe I'll be able to return to fluffy Solavellan at a point.

I want fluff, but rivalmancing is all I can come up with. The story does end with Tresspasser, eventually. At least the next chapter should be easier, and I have ideas of how to bring Felassan soon to heal the TME pain.

Edit: Also I finished the fic by Tales2TellU and together with sleep deprivation and crappy weather, I feel very, very sad. Solas  :crying:  :crying:  :crying:

I do have another fluff tale from the past in me (though that one will serve to lead in to something a bit more serious after that) but it's the Trespasser stuff that wants out at the moment, albeit slowly.

It will be interesting to read your take on Tresspasser. You have such a gentle writing style, and Tresspasser is a somewhat brutal part of the story to me.

So far, there's a lot of feelings (surprise!), :P

But also reflections, thoughts, and processing. I think I may skip this part that isn't coming for now and come back to it later.

I have almost the entire Tresspasser written, but I keep leaving it and coming back to it. It's so loaded with drama for me that it will end up being one of those chapters that I just edit 100 times.

Anyway, I am grateful that, as you said, the relationship is for the most part presented as one of equals, at least enough that I can believe it was real. For a while - shortly after finding out who he is - I was feeling gross enough that I was ready to erase the romance from my headcanon.

But I didn't. I wonder how much I'll come to regret that in time. :(

That's really interesting. Is it just the power imbalance you are worried about that makes you feel that way, or is there more to it than that? I get that he can be condescending at times, but I have always taken that as just who he is personality-wise, not necessarily the result of being a Deity/Evanuris (Your Term Of Choice Here).

I wish I could sass him back without disapproval consequences in my romanced canon. Damn, sometimes he truly does deserve a kick in the groin. I am weirdly protective over Sera (and romancing her now with my dwarven Inky), and it takes a very long time for him to warm up to her in a party. Vivienne is already moving out my bedroom furniture, he might as well join her on my dwarven playthrough.

Plus, power struggle. I like a strong man who doesn't let me manipulate him around and use him as a wiping cloth (that way just... ); but I do like to remind them I am not subservient at all either.
