I just realized I absolutely suck IRL. At everything. Major case of impostor syndrome tonight, only I'm right, and I want to cry.

Guys, I'd love some opinions in regards to a Solavellan fic centered after Trespasser with a Lavellan who's clan was killed, broke up the Inquisition, and is considering visiting Duke Antoine in Wycome on the way to Tevinter for a bit of revenge.

Despite how my girl's clan wasn't killed and she's kept the Inqusition, I'll be going with her playstyle of doing as little killing as possible; particularly one where she stopped Solas from killing the mages in his personal quest. I'm aiming to get that Fade-kiss 2.0 that we talked about a couple of hundred pages back a go, so I'm thinking about a Fade-dream confrontation where he stops her from killing him, but I don't know how I'm going to go about that yet.

Any tips? Any preference for a sort of blank slate-ish Lavellan for inserts, or would the set up I'm going for be too personalised? Also, I think don't know if this is an original idea or not, so has anyone heard of one similar? (I like writing fics but I don't upload, so I don't know how original my ideas are. xD)

Minor tumblr rant (very minor, just need it out of my system):

@Sunny - YES! I love the violin one, although I always saw Solas more of a pianist *obligatory-snicker*.

Edit: Also out of likes so take a heart <3.

Ooh yes! Although maybe Skyhold's mural served that purpose. :o

One of the Inquisitor (even a romanced Lavellan) on their own is a bit... creepy? xD

Maybe it could be of the two of them at Halamshiral dancing.  Even if you didn't take him/didn't accept the dance it could still have been a desire of his to dance with her.

No idea if this has been posted before, but I found it and immediately thought of Lavellan...

It's called "Elven Bridal Gown" :P found it on facebook :)

I have a terrible weakness for the waltz, so this idea is an automatic win just for the mention, but that would be less creepy, yes. :D

Could someone with a twitter please tweet this idea to Weekes because I have a mighty need to see this in the game now.  It's sweet, romantic, not creepy and shows how much he dreams of still being with her.

(also I know Weekes supports the headcanon that Solas left her his jawbone necklace but can Lavellan please have that in DA4 like the Warden still has Morrigan's ring.  She doesn't need to wear it.  Just a scene where she takes it out to look at it or something!)

Art break! :D

Solas playing the violin. (I love this! <3)

I really love this one. Makes my inner musician happy.

Me too, but that is only because I'm biased being a pianist (ha) myself.

I found a soundfile of Solas speaking almost only Elven on tumblr. When does he say ara harel?? That's like he's saying my deception, or the other things harel could mean (dread, fear, demon I think)..

Warning: you will probably feel things if you listen to this .

I'm pretty sure that's a fact. A lot of people seem to be ignoring this bit or perhaps didn't pay much attention to the codices in the Vir Dirthara...

Anyways, if you're interested (as this is a perfect segue to plug my thread) check it out.

Just check out the first section.

1. Ancient Elvhen Nature & culture

And for the Solas bit of your post, check out part 6B (If you're interested of course)

6B. Solas & Mythal, relationship, Plans Then & Now

Way behind here since my brain decided to shut down after wrestling with words for the fanfic, and I had to take a nap. I gotta respond to this now though because it's buggin me. I know I'm going to come off as argumentative, even though it's not my intent. I just think it is way too early to be passing off theory and opinion as fact when all of us are working with the same set of evidence. Evidence that can be looked at several different ways. To imply that people who disagree with the way you have interpreted it weren't paying attention is downright rude. Because of that, I'll present a counter.

Not for the Mythal relationship. I was on board with the guard dog role days after trespasser landed and posted as much under spoiler tags ages ago. So, that whole idea isn't new to me. I prefer it to any other explanation for their closeness.

But for the all elves were spirits thing. I just don't care for that idea at all. Not saying it can't be true, mind. I believe just about anything is possible at this point and I'm not about to deny anyone their theory when we're all playing the same game. To point, I'll be using the same things you posted to support my idea that not all elves were spirits instead. I'll use spoiler tags so it hopefully doesn't get too wall-like and anyways it's not exactly Solas related except that it hopefully adds some support to the idea that he doesn't have to have been a spirit himself.

Spoiler

So many words. Whew. But, there it is then. Now we just wait to see which one of us is going to be wrong. I sure hope it's you. Haha. But even if it's me, I guess I won't be too grumpy. It'll just take away a lot of the spirit to elf dynamic that I think could be fascinating. For me, it's more impressive that they had such companionship with their brethren of the air without having been air themselves.

In hindsight I might should have taken this big arse reply to the other thread. But, I like it here. The blanket fort is the best place in the whole Bio'verse.

He says that to Mihris, I think it's when she's being cheeky or when she wants the amulet of power? I think it's "you deceive them" or something of the sort.

It's to Mihris for a non-Dalish Inquisitor when she talks about why she's away from her clan.

Because your feet get dirty, the floor gets cold, feet stick to floors, shoes leave you with a good grip, any number of reasons :P

I don't even know how you work with shoes on. Our floors are clean in Finland because we do not walk around with dirty shoes XD The floors will be pretty clean as long as you clean them haha also you can just put socks on if floor gets cold. For me it rarely gets too cold and what I love also about not wearing shoes is that I can just have my feet on the chair with me and sit on the bed and lay on the bed and do all those things without having to take shoes off haha

Considering that when we go into the future for the mage quest the veil is down, as confirmed by Solas, and no one seems to be having any problems physically (quissy,  companions, venatori, etc) I'm fairly sure that it would be the indirect repercussions of Solas's plan combined with the chaos of the tearing down of the veil that would kill mass amounts of people.

When Solas said he wants to restore the "world of the elves" that sounded pretty world-dominationy to me. I'm worried he actually plans on destroying all other countries and peoples for the sake of "what was." Through this, mass amounts of people will die, though he must do it, since he was the one that destroyed his people, and he must bring them back himself, no matter the cost. Ugh the more I think about it the more disgusted I become with the whole situation. uuuggghhh

;-;

I think this can also be taken in a less literal way. What is the "world of the elves" in its most basic form? It's a world where the veil doesn't exist, a world where magic is like breathing and spirits are free to roam and mingle. Perhaps it's not so much a civilization he wants to bring back (one he battled against once upon a time, let's not forget) so much as an environment where his People can thrive the way they used to, but without the taint of things like the Evanuris thinking themselves gods and slavery.

IIRC any supportive comment made when he asks can be taken as encouragement for him to carry on with his plans. I always choose the "put things back the way things were", and he questions you about it, where you follow with "Yes, well, not exactly-" but he interrupts saying he knew what you meant and thanks you.

With Trespasser, I'm taking it that all Inquisitors are supposed to go forward feeling at least partially responsible for Solas and what's he's doing, even if it's just with that comment alone.

Er... I took it as entirely opposite. "Moving things forward" is to well... move forwards and try to make THIS world better (even Solas's comment about 'you offer hope that someday things will get better!' is sort of confirming that), while "restoring what was" is for... well.. restoring the past, which is what he's actively trying to do in Trespasser (Solas even thanks people for the reminder).

Anyway - different thing now: remember how we all talked about how Inquisition took less then a year, since it started in 9:41 and ended in 9:42?

Well... we got the year, but never really got the precise date of the Conclave or Cory defeat, did we?

Then the campaign could take anything from 2-3 months (if Conclave was at the end of '41 and Cory was defeated at the beginning of '42) to almost 2 years (if the Conclave was at the start of '41 and Cory was defeated at the end of '42).

So there's a lot of wiggle room here: I take it that I can headcanon that, say, 'non-completionist' campaign can take about 6-8 months of in-story time and 'completionist' ones take anywhere from 15 to 22 months :)

So......I think I may have found a statue of June. @.@

Playing my Mahannon quizy I went to the location of the first elvhen artifact without Solas just to look around. Anyway, I was running around with the Veilfire torch and I have never seen this rune before. I mus thave missed it everytime I have been here.

The rune gives a weapon enchantment. And the statue behind it is of someone holding a ram's head.

And on the DragonAge wiki, June's page shows a ram head skull thingy is suppose to represent him. And the rune is a weapon enchant. Probably right up June's alley.

I'm just curious cause I think I've seen this statue in other palces. Like that Fade place you go see Flemythal and Kieran.

Thoughts?

Here is a screenshot of what I'm talking about.

Spoiler

And then there's This statue in there.

Spoiler

Like...if this was a June shrine....was June depressed? wtf?!?!

AShdna ce I just realized that the ram head statue is at the entrance also....with the Grey Warden flag and some of flag above it.

Spoiler

And June's mosaic has what looks kind of like the joining chalice in front of him.

Did June create the Joining to fight the Blight?!?!??!

I'm fairly sure that the statue of the guy covering his face with his hands and with the sword across his lap is Maferath, Andraste's husband.  There are other statues that look like that which are said to be Maferath, including one in the Hinterlands where there's a location marker - it's the same place you put the Felandaris for a quest.

Edit:  The quest I'm talking about is this one:  http://dragonage.wik...er_from_a_Lover

The quest itself says to place the Felandaris where the statue of a lady stands but the landmark you find there calls the statue Maferath Repentant.

I definitely agree we're supposed to feel partly responsible. I know I did.

Yes. And this was an element I felt way before Trespasser. At the time, it felt like an optimistic sort of moment, then he's so happy and takes you out, then the breakup and since I was spoiled on him being Fen'Harel right before the temple, I started getting the massive feels over the way that conversation has multiple meanings. It was definitely amplified in Trespasser.

I need to use this in the fic I'm writing. I've already had her think back to a past conversation in the immediate afterward of talking to Solas.

I'm sick atm so I'm going to be rambling.  The right side of my face feels like it's in a vice.  Sinuses, why do you hate me?

Anyway, you know which location in Trespasser I liked the most?  The island.  It was very pretty and I liked popping around to the different towers and seeing the area from different view points.  I know the chances of going back there are pretty close to nil but it would be cool.  Also, as a retreat for fleeing slaves, it was a little small unless it was only one of many retreats, although now that I think about it, Solas probably had multiple places similar to that.  I mean, given what he says to Sera about keeping forces divided and such.

Also, I really kind of hate how you get a foot into water and suddenly sink like a stone.  It's especially bad on that island, I swear you dip a toe into the water and it's all "UGH!" and reappearing with low health on dry land.  I also accidentally killed a halla (or two or three) when fighting the Qunari there.  And this turned into an episode of "Confessions of a Bad Dalish".  On the next episode find out the secret identity of Lavellan's elven apostate lover, it'll shock you!

I remember a while ago a post, I think on the DA subreddit, something like DAI as tabloid headlines, and I wrote something similar to your last line there. Which people enjoyed. :D

I loved that island, the peace of it, the really lovely scenery. I've seen some screens of the Crossroads as seen by non-elven Inquisitors and it's kind of barren and not as colorful but only of an area or two. Of course I don't have any non-Lavellans yet, so I can't check myself.

Sinus stuff is so awful. I hope you feel better. I'm  waiting for my antihistamine to kick in because I've had a horrible morning battle with allergies and losing, so I gave in and took something.
