Or do they not care if he is straight-only because it doesn't affect them if he is?

He is a LI. If he is straight I will go with my first plan to romance him with my female Dalish rogue, if he gay then I'm make a male Dalish rogue. Not really worried about his orientation at this point. Straight, gay or BI we have a romance.

I feel like there should be a Tina Belcher gif that sums up my current state of happy disappointment. Like I am happy that a lot of people who have been waiting have gotten what they want, but I don't think I can be totally happy about it because...yeah. So my soul is kinda doing this:

Yeah, sorry but I can't fully celebrate yet. Wish they would just come clean instead of being like "check with darrah lol" I'll fully celebrate when we get the official statement and what his sexuality is.

 

 

Yeah.  It would be really nice if they'd just give us a nice, clear confirmation but it looks like that's on hold until BioWare figures out what they're doing.

I think it's perfectly fine for people to be upset, people should be allowed to feel upset. People should be allowed to feel the way that they feel. If you wanna celebrate, do so. If you think we shouldn't celebrate yet, feel free to think that way.

 

There's nobody attacking the devs or going on a full on flaming spree like some people did for Cassandra (remember the posts about QUEERBAITING!!!11!!!") so I think it's fine. Nobody should get elitist about it neither on the forums nor tumblr.

Having him be race-gated to elves only because he's "just not attracted to humans, dwarves and qunari" would be a pretty poor explanation from a story perspective, though. I don't see them using that for any of the characters.

 

About him wanting to have elven children, romancing a female elven inquisitor is in no way a guarantee of that. What says that the inquisitor would even be interested in having children with him even if she's an elf? Maybe he should settle for half-elven babies with a human rather than none at all. I don't think that's a likely reason either.

Because if Solas is elf only and Iron Bull was gated against dwarves then gay male dwarves and straight female dwarves would have only had one LI option before IB was ungated.  David Gaider said that "fair" was two options no matter what race/gender/sexuality you play.

There isn't one. All other races are exiled so the elves can 'reclaim their immortality'.
