I don't think Sera is gated against dwarves...? Wasn't there a tweet from Allan saying he was romancing her with a female dwarf?

It hasn't been said and whoever it was (I'm not sure it was Allan) - they clarified that they were intending to romance Sera with a female dwarf, but they hadn't checked to see if it was possible or not, and that we shouldn't take it as confirmation.
Also, my comment was premature and I had misread what I was offering rebuttal to.

Ah, anyone romanced Bishop in Neverwinter 2? It was completed by a mod.

One of the best romances I've ever played, and the guy was an evil treator. Still, the character was awesome.

 

So, as long as Solas is a villain (and maybe he is not), but is beautifully written, I'll follow him to hell.

This bites, while I'm happy that he's a romance I'm sad that he only romances elves, i figured by his open mindedness that he'd be for sure completely open to any/most races... I am happy for those that like/are willing to play as elves! I might consider playing an elf but I am not very interested in such a restricted racial romanceXD I mean they could have not added any more, but the fact that they only stated elves only makes me sure that's their final decision.

I'm intensely curious to know WHY he's gated this way.  And I think it's kind of hilarious that all of our LI information on Solas has come from "Uh, was he supposed to say that? I don't think he was supposed to say that!" moments.  It's unicorn magic. Obviously.

Having him be race-gated to elves only because he's "just not attracted to humans, dwarves and qunari" would be a pretty poor explanation from a story perspective, though. I don't see them using that for any of the characters.

 

About him wanting to have elven children, romancing a female elven inquisitor is in no way a guarantee of that. What says that the inquisitor would even be interested in having children with him even if she's an elf? Maybe he should settle for half-elven babies with a human rather than none at all. I don't think that's a likely reason either.

 

There's no such thing as half-elven in Thedas.  You can be an elf-blooded human, or you can be an elf.  Half-elves are human.  Elves are dying out because of this.  In light of that, it makes a certain amount of sense that elves might prefer to stick to elves so that their race does not die out and their culture along with it.  Not only that, but elf-blooded humans are often treated poorly on both sides.  Elves don't like or trust them because they're human, and humans look down on them because many humans in Thedas think of elves as lesser beings (related to rabbits, according to one book, and that's one of the kinder things they say).

I wasn't being rude. I was just saying that their line about "every disadvantage has an advantage too" is wrong. 

 

It was their opinion, and they're just trying to be optimistic. "Wrong" was a rude word to apply, particularly as a stand alone word. That is all.

Or maybe it's not even about attraction, and he just wants a way to be part of Dalish culture.  Because I'm sure every other culture out there is going to welcome an apostate elf... I mean with the humans they'd send him to the Circle, render him Tranquil, or kill him (which is more likely since he's a hedge mage).  The qunari would want him enslaved.  The dwarves don't even have magic, so I can just imagine how they'd react to his presence.  Really the only group he could be remotely welcomed by is the Dalish--the city elves would react much the same as the humans.

Except he disagrees with how the Dalish see the Fade, so he clearly is okay with not everything they say. Also him wanting to be like the Dalish really doesn't help any arguments about him not being a racist. Especially considering he prefers to be seen as a person rather than by his race yet is fine doing that to others apparently so at best he is a hypocrite.
