I keep telling myself it doesn't matter if people don't care, and on some level I believe it but, is there really a point to writing if people don't read what you wrote? Some days I'm all eff it, I do what I want. But some days, like now I guess, I just can't muster that indifference. Though that's not my primary concern right now, it's more of me not liking my own style, and getting frustrated at my quickly lost motivation. Though this helps, thank you

Even if people don't read what you write you still gain the experience from having written. You'll still have proven to yourself that you can push through the block. Your writing will benefit from it. The only thing I have on AO3 has like 55 kudos. That's it. I don't even know if those 55 people read the whole thing. I know one of them did. Even if they hadn't, I know I'm better off for having written it--for finally finishing something. People obviously do want to read what you've written. You have quite a lot of kudos and bookmarks. When it comes to liking your own style...that's a toughie. They say if you write very late at night when you are really tired that your inner critic shuts off allowing your creativity to run wild...because you are basically in a quasi drunken state. I know that helped me get my darn thing written and posted. I wrote most of it when I was dead tired. I came up with a lot of interesting ideas in that state. Just an idea.

Ohhh, I really like this idea. I am often way too shy to promote my own stuff on here, but having some kind of masterlist on AO3 where those who want to can browse the works of people from this thread would be nice I tend to not always be able to read fics at the time people link to them and afterward the thread moves so fast that I can't go back and find those links again.

That's true. But still, it gets a bit irritating getting these warnings whereas other people who have done the same thing don't. (At least, not that I'm aware of.) Like, are the mods keeping an eye on certain individuals? I admit it's not the first time I've posted nsfw links so I wouldn't be surprised if the mods know me as the person who posts smut links

But it will probably end up being Zevellan fluff because I can't think about Solavellan without being sad or angry now.

 

This whole thing actually came up in my head because I was sitting around wondering if Zervan ever offered to tattoo on my Lavellan........ . I was trying to decide if she would take him up on the offer.

 

I suppose it would depend if he was actually offering a real tattoo and not some weird bath in what was....like olive oil and something.

I guess just, from a mod's perspective, it's probably a little bit irritating for them as well, that the same individuals who've been reported & warned already re: doing something persist in doing it...? That's the only thing I can think of anyway. :S I don't know what's going on, last time I remember this happening I was away at the time and came back to some drama about people being mad about the person or people doing the reporting.

 

The only thing I can think to suggest is unfortunately, don't do it and follow the rules. I wouldn't like to see any threadregulars get banned.

I think she had suspicions that he was something more than what he said he was by the time ME ended, and she knew he wasn't Dalish, but no, she had nothing more concrete than that.

Comments and feedback are so hard to get sometimes. Kudos are nice and all, but sometimes it makes you feel like everyone's pretty much "meh" about the whole thing when you hardly ever get a comment. Oh well, I suppose no writer should really expect comments and I don't want to turn into an entitled monster craving adulation
