I managed DAI but it was good to have stealth to remove aggro and to be able to stay back while I sent my companions to handle the spiders. Best Inquisitor and leader ever. :D

It was meh to me that the Nightmare demon showed my Hawke and my Inquisitor spiders since they (because I) have no particular fear of them (although I absolutely would pee myself if I saw a spider that big), but I guess it fits well for you! The Nightmare knew!

Speakin of the spiders, what would your Lavellan really see the Fearlings as? I guess you could say "it's canon that Inquisitor is afraid of spiders" but really it's a gameplay/story segregation that they can't tailor Fearlings for everyone's PC's specific fears. Some examples iirc Cass sees them as maggots, Sera perceives them as areas of "nothing", and of course the names of the Fearlings themselves are good examples: the Calling, Templars, mages, darkspawn. There's also a codex entry which shows that they can also be more abstract - I think I remember reading someone's account of how when they stuck the Fearling with their sword, they were overcome with a crippling sensation of having disappointed their father or something like that. A related question is what would her tombstone be for you but that's asked a lot so.

I already wrote out my comment before I noticed this! My Lavellan would see her undead clan crying "You should of been there to protect us! We needed you! Ithilia help us! You left us to die!"

Just so you know my Lavellan's clan is alive and healthy, but their near death experience and her not being with them leaves her with the constant fear of something happening to them and guilt she isn't with them (and she knows she'll never be able to go back to them again).

I felt like Solas was someone who knew much etc. He had small smiling wrinkles haha so it made him look that he would be in his 30's but not early 30's a bit older but 40 felt like a little too much.. it could be though but then again I felt like my Lavellan was sometimes really childlish with Sera but with Solas not really but in a way that she was the sad puppy you know. Kind of gone with the '' Gilan'nain youngest of the gods '' thing hehe.

Ultimately, Sera's friendship was really good for my Lavellan.  She had to grow up a lot, and Sera was the one who constantly reminded her that she was still young and allowed to goof off and play pranks and make bad cookies :D  Even after Trespasser, when Lavellan's world has been turned upside down for the second time in a few short years.  Sera lets her forget all that and just be herself.

That is true friendship   Best Mage!

Ophidiophobia :)  (had to Google that one, odd considering how common it is)

My phobias aren't things that usually turn up in games, unless they're horror games, which I just can't play.  I have a fear of deep water, and quizzy can't make it a step without falling over.  Mostly, what gives me nightmares isn't so much the scary thing, as the horrible anticipation that precedes the scary thing.  The creak in the floorboards.  The alien moving through the vents.  The rattling breath right before the deathblow.  If you can't see the scary thing, it could be anything, and that makes it ten thousand times worse if you have an overactive imagination like mine.

Mine's the same age as yours.  And Weekes initially tweeted that Solas is in his forties, so I'd say he's in his early forties physically.

oh I know about the imagination. Try to think about the overactive imagion with OCD and panic attacks = me
hehehehhe... hehe..... T___T oh do not even talk about actually seeing some weird stuff... <.<'' so I am simply afraid of the dark... as well.. I sleep lights on many nights and even TV on sometimes...

Speaking of which and making this Solas related again, how much of an age gap does Solas have with your Lavellan? How old is (physically) Solas and your Lavellan?

I place my Lavellan at 23 at the start of the Inquisition and 26 by Trespasser.

Mine starts DAI around 31 and is somewhere in her 33rd year by Trespasser. I would like to believe he probably dodged the question a bit, so I'll just take Weekes' '40ish' response.

I guess he dies no matter what if he becomes a Warden, but it wasn't very clear in the friendship slide, so I missed it.

I like him better as a Warden, but not for a romance.  I guess since he's older, it doesn't take as long for the Joining to take its toll on him :(

I think someone asked the devs and they said he always dies, just off-screen. Oh man when my Inqusitor got the box with his things... I swear that hurt more than seeing Solas again.

Let's face it, GW = bad for all now. Nothing good comes from them anymore. Nothing. You save them and you get so much hate too.  :(

Whoa, Solas thread, it's so hard to be away from you!

Dros, could you PM this list? It would be handy to have but I'm on my tablet that hates the BSN right now.  By the time I get back to my PC this is likely to have been lost in the new pages.

Done.

my dear drosopila, would it be alright if I put this in the AO3 collection's FAQ? It's a very good checklist, and it'll be handy to be able to access it easily

Of course, my dear.

It's up! http://archiveofouro...ons/Blanketfort

Though the icon and FAQ #9 are still pending permission, so I'll take those down if sparkly creator and drosophila don't want them there, the rest is A-OK. I think. I've never actually made a collection before

Could you add me to this? My handle is fullmetal_drosophila on AO3.

Edit your work and check the box that says "This work is part of a collection" or whatever it is. Then choose the collection.

Feels rogue saves the day.

I just saw the Cullen thread also has a collection of their fics :)

Ours will be better  :P

Time for an elven gods fashion show

Dirthamen: Keeper of Secrets
Spoiler

HAIL DIRTHAMEN!

Sorry guys, experiments have been failing. Maybe some Dirthamen worshiping would help. I printed this pic and posted it above my desk for occasional prayers. Scientific method, yo.

So I'm curious. Has anyone started calling their partner "vhenan" in real life?

My husband calls me vhenan once in a while, to which I respond by calling him kadan, because he romanced Iron Bull. It's all a joke, we snark at each other a lot, where do you think I get the ideas for my rivalmance?  Also a couple of nights ago when he wanted to go to bed, he said, "The veil is tired here." I thought it was cute.

Speakin of the spiders, what would your Lavellan really see the Fearlings as?

My Lavellan would see babies possessed by demons.

Ellana is 26 at the start of Inquisition, verging on 30 by the end of Trespasser. She believes Solas to be in his late thirties to very early forties, but he never quite tell her and it seems like such a small detail to her that she never asks  :P

I think there are many "small" details Lavellan never asks or chooses not to.

Oh I didn't see the tombstone question! Something about not being able to protect. Not being there? Hmm, the companions stole all the good ones. I like Failure too, for the mentioner of that!

nope! as my friend Fluffy uploaded a video the other romance is like this:

I also did not have him as a warden so he does not die. Everything else of that happens but not the inquisitor loving and romance part but the line before it speaks of the romance :)

Watching Qun!Bull's Trespasser stuff on YouTube made me die a little inside.  I can only imagine what it must have been like if you romanced him and were unspoiled.

To be entirely fair to the Wardens, they were never good news to begin with, and they never really hid that.  Within hours of meeting him, Duncan can go force Cousland's dying father to agree to the Right of Conscription before he'll try to save Cousland Jr.  I mean, that is pretty f***ing cold.  Then he shanks Jory.  The Wardens only seemed like good guys in DA:O because 1) we were playing a Warden and 2) we weren't exposed to what the Wardens are like as an organization.

Bronwyn, my canon, would probably see mabari hounds. Clan Lavellan has travelled about a lot, and I imagine wasn't always in the Free Marches, and I headcanon that she's familiar with a lot of Ferelden. She's not massively fond of dogs anyway, too many sharp teeth, too close and personal (she's definitely a cat person). Mabari for her have always had the association of shemlen hunting dogs, trying to stalk their prey (namely, the clan). It's not like tripping over a few bandits or cloaked travellers or local farmers - mabari usually mean there's a pack not far behind, and a band of knights with their lord not far from them, either. I imagine she'd likely hear dalish funeral rites being whispered in the background, as clan life means that death is always close (her father died young) and can't be hidden away in coffins.

Cerian, my warden headcanon, would see quite a few things. She's a bit claustrophobic, a reaction from her time in the circle, and would likely see harsh, dark, walls surrounding her, and feel the sensation of the world about to collapse on top of her. She'd likely see ghouls, too - always a little scarier for her, given how they sometimes have traces of their human selves in them. Other blighted creatures would also be common as lesser fearlings - including wolves, actually, given that she almost got half her face torn off in a scuffle with a werewolf, and they're common enough to find. I imagine there'd be some traces of her early childhood in the background - possibly the smell of her mother's cooking - which is rather cruel, considering her strict Andrastian family basically left her on the road, in the wilderness, after her magic manifested. Perhaps she'd hear the chant.

Bronwyn's gravestone would be failing her duty/losing her way. Loyalty is important to her (she's the clan's mum, even though she's nowhere near the eldest). Perhaps the Nightmare would get creative and just put 'The Dread Wolf' on her gravestone, because that's what he basically represents to her/

Cerian's would be despair, or The Maker. Cerian has always had a complicated attachment to the Chantry, and goes through a loss of faith over Inquisition, and has serious hellfright, the poor girl. The two are almost interchangeable for her, at that point.

Cass is around that age too.

And I make this face whenever people complain/criticize her for being a LI in her late 30s/around 40 by Trespasser

I mean, I admit I kind of have a little thing for older women but I'm now past 30 myself so whatever, you all know what I think of Cassandra, and it's usually those entitled straight dude gamer bros who think every female LI has to be super young and look a certain way.

Hello Solas Thread!

Warning, lengthy post incoming!  I'll try to keep this all as on topic as I possibly can.  I've been in lurk mode the last couple of weeks.  Life kinda got a bit crazy so I just didn't have the time, or frame of mind, to be an active participant.  I've still been popping in to catch up a bit and toss out a like here and there.  Let's see; Had to help my sister and niece move into a new place.  Then after that I had some health issues that threw me for a loop.  Feeling better now, but it was rough for a few days.  Then this week we lost 2 pets within a day of each other.  They were my niece's pets but they've had to live with us because they were living in pet free places (still are) so it was still hard to lose them, and see my niece hurt.

I've mentioned before I have quite a few Inquisitors on the go that I really want to finish.  It's just daunting sometimes how big this game is, and then trying to stop myself from doing everything in each play through.  I tend to be a completionist so leaving stuff unfinished nags at me sometimes lol.  Anyways I had finished the game 3 times.  Lavellan, then Trev'quisitor, and then a redo of my canon Lavellan.  When I played my Trev'quisitor she was more or less a palette cleanser after the heartbreak that is a Solavellan run.  I burned through the game as fast as I could (clocked in just over 60 hours), she romanced Cullen.  After I finished Trespasser on Lavellan I tried to go back to before the end of the game on Trev to fix stuff up before doing the DLC.  But I just couldn't make much progress for whatever reason.  I think I'm just going to kill Cornflakes (again) and do Trespasser with her just to see the fluffy wedding stuff.  Not going to bother with Descent or JoH.

Well I finally managed to finish my Herah Adaar. (The spoiler tags are for screenshots.)

Spoiler

I had made her back in Nov/Dec around the same time I redid my canon Lavellan.  I got her to Skyhold before I ran out of steam.  Something about her face always felt off but I made too much progress to delete her.  I also was having a hard time feeling invested in her using Sumalee's voice.  Sumalee does a fantastic job, but my problem is that I am just waaaaaay too attached to Alix, and it's probably the same reason why I struggle to finish any male Inquisitors.  Thank goodness for the Black Emporium.  Fixed her face and voice and never looked back.

I have to say I am almost as fond of her as I am my Lavellan.  It actually surprised me how much I enjoyed the Iron Bull romance.

Spoiler

This was the Inquisitor that I had a Warden Alistair.  (RIP m!Hawke)

Spoiler

She let Cole stay more like a spirit.

Spoiler

Oh Solas.  If only Herah knew what you were really implying here.

Spoiler

Solas and Herah were good friends.  And that was reflected in the Trespasser conversation.

Spoiler

Herah disbanded the Inquisition and is a Red Jenny in her spare time.  She also conscripted the Templars, allied with the Wardens, Celene rules Orlais with Briala as a Marquise.  Cass is Divine and she is also rebuilding the Seekers.  It's a bit different than my Lavellan, but I really like Adaar's outcome as much as Lavellan's.  Really happy with how this play through ended up.

I think it's going to be a long time before I do the Solas romance again.  Too many times experiencing it and I will desensitize myself to it.  I probably sound like a masochist in saying that lol.  Why on earth would you want the impact to not lessen?!  Are you nuts?  Probably.  I can't decide if I am going to finish my Cass romance or do a Blackwall romancing Inquisitor next.  But yeah, that's what I've been up to!  Hopefully I'll be posting more now since life is calmer.
