To be entirely fair to the Wardens, they were never good news to begin with, and they never really hid that.  Within hours of meeting him, Duncan can go force Cousland's dying father to agree to the Right of Conscription before he'll try to save Cousland Jr.  I mean, that is pretty f***ing cold.  Then he shanks Jory.  The Wardens only seemed like good guys in DA:O because 1) we were playing a Warden and 2) we weren't exposed to what the Wardens are like as an organization.  

 

My problem is my HOF was a saint because I played her as one. And sorry to Alistair, but Loghain lived. His views of Duncan were overly biased. I know it's because of his life and how Duncan treated him, but unless it involved Duncan or his own family, Alistair never yelled at me for any other questionable thing I did. Wardens are not good, but I had hoped my HOF was going to change that.

I would've also thought her being in her 35's or even a little younger.. I think the writers well.. okay I think chars look a little too young.. elves I can understand better. Cullen I would go that he is 36 but still not that old. Well my sister is 31 and has no wrinkles. Looks like in her 20's ö.Ö and her bf is a little older than her and he looks kinda of the age of Solas and half Cullen so that's why I kind of thought Solas' age that way.

Watching Qun!Bull's Trespasser stuff on YouTube made me die a little inside.  I can only imagine what it must have been like if you romanced him and were unspoiled.

I'm 32 and have silver hair growing out like natural highlights with my natural soft black hair, but my face is that of a 20 year old with no wrinkles. I guess genetics can really play a part. My first silver hairs were at 24.

oh! wow! yea totally It's just that some guys like the guy I dated looked kinda like being same ages with Solas though he was only 29. He did not have wrinkles or stuff But hey! grey/silver hair is now kinda in I tried to color mine silver.. they turned into turquoise... so I colored them black LOL now I have red/brown like reddish brown and dark brown the down part. And you are still young like my sister ^^ my natural hair is more like dark blonde if you google it.

Yes, the HoF is a famous badass, but s/he is just one person in this organization that has a history of doing terrible things in the name of duty and sacrifice.  Hero or not, there's no incentive for the Wardens to change their behavior.  As an organization, they don't care about things like public opinion or political capitol, unless it gets them more recruits, and they even manage to squander that.  In theory, they have carte blanche to do whatever they deem necessary against the Blight.  In practice, not so much, but they never seem to learn that lesson except at the tip of a very big sword.

 

Increasingly, I think exile might be best for the Wardens.  In DA:O, the Wardens at least intended to behave better when returning to Ferelden after exile.  A good kick in the behind might be just what they needed.

Hello Solas Thread!

 

Warning, lengthy post incoming!  I'll try to keep this all as on topic as I possibly can.  I've been in lurk mode the last couple of weeks.  Life kinda got a bit crazy so I just didn't have the time, or frame of mind, to be an active participant.  I've still been popping in to catch up a bit and toss out a like here and there.  Let's see; Had to help my sister and niece move into a new place.  Then after that I had some health issues that threw me for a loop.  Feeling better now, but it was rough for a few days.  Then this week we lost 2 pets within a day of each other.  They were my niece's pets but they've had to live with us because they were living in pet free places (still are) so it was still hard to lose them, and see my niece hurt.

 

I've mentioned before I have quite a few Inquisitors on the go that I really want to finish.  It's just daunting sometimes how big this game is, and then trying to stop myself from doing everything in each play through.  I tend to be a completionist so leaving stuff unfinished nags at me sometimes lol.  Anyways I had finished the game 3 times.  Lavellan, then Trev'quisitor, and then a redo of my canon Lavellan.  When I played my Trev'quisitor she was more or less a palette cleanser after the heartbreak that is a Solavellan run.  I burned through the game as fast as I could (clocked in just over 60 hours), she romanced Cullen.  After I finished Trespasser on Lavellan I tried to go back to before the end of the game on Trev to fix stuff up before doing the DLC.  But I just couldn't make much progress for whatever reason.  I think I'm just going to kill Cornflakes (again) and do Trespasser with her just to see the fluffy wedding stuff.  Not going to bother with Descent or JoH.

 

Well I finally managed to finish my Herah Adaar. (The spoiler tags are for screenshots.)

I had made her back in Nov/Dec around the same time I redid my canon Lavellan.  I got her to Skyhold before I ran out of steam.  Something about her face always felt off but I made too much progress to delete her.  I also was having a hard time feeling invested in her using Sumalee's voice.  Sumalee does a fantastic job, but my problem is that I am just waaaaaay too attached to Alix, and it's probably the same reason why I struggle to finish any male Inquisitors.  Thank goodness for the Black Emporium.  Fixed her face and voice and never looked back. 

 

I have to say I am almost as fond of her as I am my Lavellan.  It actually surprised me how much I enjoyed the Iron Bull romance.

Solas and Herah were good friends.  And that was reflected in the Trespasser conversation.

Herah disbanded the Inquisition and is a Red Jenny in her spare time.  She also conscripted the Templars, allied with the Wardens, Celene rules Orlais with Briala as a Marquise.  Cass is Divine and she is also rebuilding the Seekers.  It's a bit different than my Lavellan, but I really like Adaar's outcome as much as Lavellan's.  Really happy with how this play through ended up.

 

I think it's going to be a long time before I do the Solas romance again.  Too many times experiencing it and I will desensitize myself to it.  I probably sound like a masochist in saying that lol.  Why on earth would you want the impact to not lessen?!  Are you nuts?  Probably.  I can't decide if I am going to finish my Cass romance or do a Blackwall romancing Inquisitor next.  But yeah, that's what I've been up to!  Hopefully I'll be posting more now since life is calmer.

_Lucinia! It's good to hear from you again! I'm sorry about everything that's been happening. Losing pets is so tough, and I'm glad you're feeling better! 

Your Adaar is really pretty and I enjoyed the I.B. romance too (I had him with my rogue Trevelyan). I like his epilogue slide *.* so cute! I am reminded that the other romances end on a much happier note! I like Alix's voice too, but I tried it on my Adaar and... itjust didn't fit for me.

I watched both and to be honest, I strongly feel a friend has a better chance of redeeming him than a romance. He might be wearing a huge mask to prevent weakness, but I feel he has a harder time being cold to a friend than a lover. I know he is hardening himself because his love could overpower it, but that makes him want to fight it even more.  With a friend he feels hope. I don't know why they did it that way, but they did.

Speakin of the spiders, what would your Lavellan really see the Fearlings as? I guess you could say "it's canon that Inquisitor is afraid of spiders" but really it's a gameplay/story segregation that they can't tailor Fearlings for everyone's PC's specific fears. Some examples iirc Cass sees them as maggots, Sera perceives them as areas of "nothing", and of course the names of the Fearlings themselves are good examples: the Calling, Templars, mages, darkspawn. There's also a codex entry which shows that they can also be more abstract - I think I remember reading someone's account of how when they stuck the Fearling with their sword, they were overcome with a crippling sensation of having disappointed their father or something like that. A related question is what would her tombstone be for you but that's asked a lot so.

 

My fear would be spiders.

I seem to always find the ones that like to leap at you whether you are trying to kill them or not. When I was still married the one thing my ex wouldn't do was deal with spiders so there was one on the ceiling and I went to hit it and the damn thing leaped at me, where it went I don't know but of course I was screaming and slapping at my hair, spinning in circles complete freak out, before I stripped right there in the living room and ran for the shower. We never did find that damn thing, maybe my cat found it and ate it.

 

 

Fast forward 10 years, a new home, and now divorced and still the only one to deal with spiders. I had some bug spray that was supposed to kill them, had one in my bathroom over the toilet. Thought it was dead. A week later I'm in the shower (think master bath with garden tub, sinks in main room, shower and toilet in a smaller room) Out of the corner of my eye I saw a dark spot moving along the edge of the ceiling. Just as I realized it was that damn spider it jumped. I slammed against the back of the shower and it landed at my feet. Then I damn near broke the shower door getting out of there. F****** spiders. It's a mutual hate/hate relationship.

 

As for what might be on my Lavellan/Quizzy's tombstone.....Betrayal or Rejection  (Thanks a lot Solas!)

My hair was dark brown when I was born then they turned into platinum blonde as a kid like 2-4 years old and after golden blonde and kind of having few brown stripes when I got to school. Then they turned into dark blonde haha . I do not like that color though too much. I liked either golden blonde or black or dark brown and my eyes are greyishblue but with greenishyellowish in the middle.. trust me I don't even know what my eyecolor is but it is mostly blue haha just not BLUE BLUE like a slightly grayish blue I do have a picture though XD

I think a lot of this simply has to do what they prioritized when writing both dialogue. They prioritized the feelz when doing the romance option. Realistically though, I doubt much that the romance path will differ from the friendship one as far as conclusions go. Our choices were the same at the end of Trespasser after all (and friendship and romantic love are two forms of love, so it makes sense). My guess is the only thing that might be different is, once again, the exact content of the cut scene.

Yeah it was really weird at first when I switched to Alix's voice for my Adaar.  I don't know if it's because of how I made her face but eventually it started to fit.  I blame purple Hawke for this, but I have a tendency to pick sassy and sarcastic dialogue options whenever appropriate, and Alix delivers those lines so well.

 

I agree with you on Solas. I felt much more hopeful for redeeming him with my friendship Adaar than I did a Lavellan he loves.  I don't know if I could ever do an Assquisitor, even just for science, to do that hilarious 15 second conversation.  Ah well I've seen it on youtube, so close enough! lol

That's what I think too. And if you break up with him, it immediately becomes the friendship dialogue. 2 sides of the same coin. I know my Lavellan was in love with him, but my Trevleyan loved him too, just not romantically.

I saw that too. Bronze skin and dark hair. Is that why his hands and feet turn a bronze color when I use upgrades? Lol

Aww thank you! Yes my eyes have a dark chocolate tone that kind of blend with the pupils. I used to dye it copper brown to highlight them.

I have...thoughts about my Warden and Eamon.  Unfortunately, most of those thoughts involve cursing, violence, and possibly defenestration.  It's a good thing Eamon wasn't Arl of Redcliffe in DA:I.  I might have let Alexius keep the castle just to spite him.
