Pragmatism. I went with how it felt, really. Cole wasn't a resource, but a spirit, an individual, not compared with others. I'm sure it's surprising that how the decision felt was a reason for me.

 

I was glad though. Spirit Cole has been my only Cole.

 

I made Cole more spirit because I liked the spirit dinner scene better. 

 

I had roleplaying reasons too...But the little silk ribbons trumps them all.

With Bull actions in Trespasser if you choose the alliance over the Chargers I love the story thread the Qunari add to my Inquisitor's tale. She knows to be careful when dealing with shems even the nice ones so she studies and looks at things from every angle she can conceive. Then in the end she gets blindsided by the Qunari because she wasn't paying attention to them.  

 

The game makes it possible for your Inquisitor to get everything right, BW games tend to, so when I can I like to add a bit of a screw up.

I have no forum etiquette, so I'm really, really sorry if this is rude or out of line. I just wanted to poke in and say hello-- and that I have loved reading your posts. I am stuck in this massive DA:I / Solas thing. 

 

All of DA is incredible, but the writing of Solas is impeccable. I am an avid gamer and advocate of video games being accepted and treated as a respected art form. Because of this, I have spent a lot of time looking at games from a more academic standpoint vs gamer standpoint. Solas is the best written character I have encountered hands down. In fact, I think his character illustrates the concept of grey-area better than any other personification of such. I am a writer (published non-fiction) that struggles with massive, debilitating depression and have been left feeling "tranquil" for a few years. Solas' arc was so inspiring to me that I've grabbed hold of the obsession wave and am going to ride it as long as it's pushing me to be productive. I have done a bunch of fan art, wrote fan-fiction for the first time ever, and am finishing up a Lavellan costume for a pro photoshoot this Saturday. 

 

Sorry to interrupt and go off topic, but I am so excited to see people who feel the same way I do! Sometimes you just need someone to nerd out with.

I love reading all your theories and found many of them to be exact when playing Trespasser. I often thought "oh I already knew this from the thread!"

Aye he expected it to cause an explosion that would be powerful enough to kill Corypheus on opening it at the very least. I doubt he foresaw Corypheus taking it right into the middle of hundreds of hundreds of innocent bystanders before opening it though.

 

 

One thing I've wondered about is why the orb unlocked when Inky touched it. Like, Solas was too weak to unlock it but the awesome power of Quizzyhands just spontaneously activates it? Or had it been primed somehow?

I think cause she interrupted the ritual right? iirc Cory rants about how you interrupted a ritual years in the making. I guess the first bit of the ritual primed it to unlock on whoever next touched it or something? Like a science fair experiment gone wrong Inky is the mom who walked past the exploding volcano just as it goes off and ends up getting it all down her shirt.

The ritual was almost finished and the orb fully charged when the inqusitor walked in on cory then justina slaps corys hand and the orb rolled to us then the anchor marked the inqusitior. So I think your right about it being primed to be unlock by who ever touched it next.

The only think that keeps me from just having the lowest opinion about The Wardens is my HoF (or HoFs). With each game it's just getting worse

I have dark hair and I don't always think my eyes are that big, but I sent a picture of my freshly made up face to a friend before I went out and her comment back was 'biiiiig eyes'.   I'm sure my exaggerated black eyeliner helped but it did look pretty.

 

 

 

I tried some more purple responses when I started a replay and it doesn't quite feel right. The worst was when the option seemed fairly benign-ish and Hawke just made a flippant comment about "boneless women" when she came to tell that guy his wife was dead. Like....no, bad Hawke. Baaaad.

 

I played mostly blue with a dash of purple and my Lavellan is also mostly sincere/top option with some snark. Sometimes the snark is irresistible though. JoH and judging Storvacker...oh man, every middle option.

Lol. My canon Hawke was mostly purple with a dash of blue and some red at just the right moments.

I love humorous Hawke ^.^ especially with Fenris romance because he's like the straight man! Their dragon conversation in Mark of the Assassin was priceless!

 

I'm almost 40, and one of the reasons Inquisition really hit the spot for me, is that all of the companions in the game except Sera, who is kind of a tagalong anyway, look old enough to be doing the jobs they're doing.

 

I also like Solas because of his maturity, but that's not the only thing, or I'd have been into Blackwall as well (and I'm not) even though physically Blackwall is more my type. Solas just oozes confidence and certainty of purpose and that's really attractive to me (even if he comes with a ton of baggage).

Origins had a pretty young group, but I think it worked out since they had more than ten years pass. One of the reasons I like my main characters in their early 20s is so I can still headcanon them actively adventuring if BioWare decides to time skip a whole bucket load of years again. Confidence is a very attractive trait. I even find borderline smugness and arrogance pretty attractive.   It's never been the bad boys, it's just the bad boys are always the most self-assured!

Hmm, I'm not too bothered by spiders IRL unless they're as big as my hand, nor am I bothered by spiders in video games.   However, my Lavellan's greatest fear would either be loss, abandonment, or loneliness. Tala loves being surrounded by friends and family, so losing everyone she cares about and being left alone in the process is something she fears the most. (Solas leaving her did not help.)

 

So maybe like NeverlandHunter, she'd see the Fearlings as undead versions of her clan, and her close friends in the Inquisition.

 

 

 

 

Tala is 21 at the start of DAI and is 24 by Trespasser. I always saw Solas as someone who was in their late 30s to early to mid 40s. (And I'm one of those crazy people who doesn't mind huge age gaps. *cough*    )

Aw thank you for your warm welcome, guys. I especially liked the "little spirit" comparison.

 

I just started my Lavellan again a few days ago, because I got a new monitor recently and all the footage I have was made with my old one. Also it bugged me that she is no mage, since she became my new canon character and those are always mages. Two perfect excuses to play her again. ^^ I even went so far as to take screenshots in the BE mirror of her sliders, added a scale to it and used an image overlay programme to get the sliders as perfect as possible. Additionally this time I gave her a vallaslin, which I did not in my first run with her.

 

My first PT was with a human mage (I do so in every game, provided there is something as a mage class to play) and I really liked it and the Cullen romance. Was waiting for that since DA:O. But then ... Solas happened. My first Quizzy was good friends with him and I grew to like him a lot myself and he was an interesting character so I chose his romance for my second PT. And guess what: For the first time ever in playing DA I have a non-human, non-red haired canon character.

 

To be honest I never found the elves to be very interesting before (I liked the city elf origin, though, if you can actually say "like" to what you experience in the origin story) - now they are my favorite.

 

And as for GW2: I stopped playing some time around April iirc and only ever had one Sylvari (Solana Dulcamara) which I played to Level 10, deleted and never started a new one.^^
