Was a delightful year after that. Not.

 

Hey, life sucks sometimes, but hands you both lemons and sugar at the same time.

Wasn't it for my now 9 year old, I wouldn't be where I am.

Playing Solasmance ruffled some feathers (my ex had waist long dreadlocks in a mohawk... remember young Solas art? Rrrr.), but mostly melancholy wise. It would never work out. And we had some great memories formed together. 

 

So, yeah. As I was saying.

Thank you. It was a bad time all around for me. I lost him and then my beloved cats died (One before he dumped me. Just a few days later and one in April this year) so I'm still nursing wounds, but I have some amazing friends who have supported me through it all. I'm sorry too for you, but glad something wonderful came out of it!

I don't know if anyone has ever taken the leaf of a sasafras tree, crushed it and smelled it......but I have and I totally imagine that as part of the smell.

Sassafras trees grow all over the place here in Pennsylvania, so I know what you mean. It's that Methyl Salicylate aroma that is also in wintergreen lozenges, Necco wafers and pepto bismol. Sage has a similar effect to my nose.

Solas smells of the Fade and forgotten books and open fields and the slightest hint of musk beneath the tang of paint? That's the things that come to mind at least.

I would agree about the paint, and Solas would probably smell like parchment too (animal hide). He hovers over the stuff enough that it would likely rub off on him. And in rainy weather with his wolf pelf, wet animal fur LOL

I like the idea of him smelling of books and paint. I've had the thought once in a while, how can everyone in the rotunda, including Solas and people upstairs, handle the smell of paint 24/7?

What would Lavellan smell like?  Mine spends a lot of her free time at Skyhold in the garden, so she probably smells like garden earth and whatever herbs she's been tending.  But Viv has taught her to take a moment and enjoy some of the perks of being Inquisitor, so occasionally, she comes down to the rotunda smelling of her scented oil bath   And poor Solas can't decide whether to disapprove or bury his nose in her hair.

I have the Sephiroth perfume from the Square-Enix shop in Japan. There was a Cloud scent also, but they were quite costly and I was worried about transporting them back to the States. Huge market here developers... Us geek girls are mighty and plentiful!

Well, I headcanon that when they start their training, clan hunters are given scented oils to wear that helps them blend in with the woods and mask some of their own scents, and thus presence. So she continues to apply her woody oil even as she settles into her new life, because it's a little tradition and reminds her of home. So she smells green, woody, a little earthy, perhaps.

 

I've written this into some of my fics, both as what Nirwen smells like but also Nirwen smelling it on Nehn.
