I just had to do In Hushed Whispers twice because I didn't turn on the 'Travel Light' trial early enough the first time. I was not happy when it didn't ping at the end of that.

 

 

Luckily I had a save just before entering the Tavern to talk to Fiona/Alexius which I went back to, then put it on casual and just ran through the mission, skipping through the cutscenes. Took me about 15 minutes. Turns out the game can be very short when you don't loot all the things and talk to all the people. Ha.

 

Also, screw you people on Reddit/various other websites I looked at for all saying the trophy would only pop if you turned on the Trial before talking to Fiona at Val Royeaux. I was about to flip tables because that save was 10 hours ago. LIES! Thankfully. Just need to turn it on before you talk to the mages in Redcliffe and it's all gravy.

 

Phew.

 

Now to spend quality time in the Fallow Mire. I think this place is my least favourite in the game. Although it's close between it and Emprise du Lion. I freaking hate Emprise du Lion. Anyone else have areas they are never thrilled to come back to?

I quite like the Emerald Graves for the best maps. Apart from when I manage to aggro about 6 brontos and two giants at once  Every. Damn. Time. All because I like lightning shooting out all over the place.

How did you like it?

 

I don't understand any German, so I only watched in curiosity. I feel like the German VO lacks a certain...weight to his performance.

No native VA for me and I thank the Maker for that. 

Out of curiosity I went to check it in German. It was... strange... to hear different voice. And I don't think it really fits Solas. Maybe I'm just too used to his English VA. After all they spoiled us with VA in English version. They're amazing.

 

The German voice doesn't have enough gravity for Solas, IMO.

 

I've searched a few times for Spanish, but I have only seen subtitles and wonder if they bothered with audio for any Spanish speaking countries.

Fallow Mire is boggy and icky, but at least it's short and relatively linear.  Emprise is (for me at least) confusing as hell to navigate, which makes it ten times worse.  It's also filled with red templars and Orlesians, my least favorite party guests  Though I do like the arenas where you fight the dragons.

I found an NPC who's harder to write than Solas.  Iron f***ing Bull 

 

He's easy to write as a bit part, and so aggravating as a major character.  Not only does he have a bunch of layers like Solas does, but on top of all of those, he has to come off easygoing and funny.  Even when he's distressed.  I thought about stretching myself and doing chapters from each character's POV and not just Lavellan's, but I don't know if I have the chops to swing Bull's chapter.  ARGHRGLRGFLRGH

Yep, that's what I meant by dull and emotionless. It sound like the VA is just reading his lines from the paper and is bored by it. Many German VAs in games have that problem, they sound wooden and unnatural. I so love Solas' english voice, how the VA uses it to emphasize on things and get across the emotions. Also I love the little quirks in his way of speaking (sorry I cannot explain so well what I mean.) And his snort-laugh-thingy, of course!

Just go for it! It's totally worth it! If you need fluff later to heal your broken heart you can start a new Cullen-run anytime. In my opinion you are missing out on a huge part of the game if you don't romance Solas.

We're ver nice here and we'll be there with the cookies, the kitties and the shoulder to cry one once you're done with the romance More seriously though, it's an awesome romance so go for it! As of Trespasser, it's made quite clear that it's not over yet and Patrick Weekes said there would be closure in the next game (as long as the game is produced, of course).

My bestie romanced Cullen, and after meeting Solas in Trespasser, she was also very confused

 

I won't say it's easier if you know the heartbreak is coming.  It's not, and in some ways, it hurts even more than going in naive.  But it's a wonderful story and RP experience.  Besides, there's nothing that says you can only love one character.  I adored both Alistair and Zev in DA:O.
