Oooh, sounds pretty Cee!

Ashoka is amazing!

I like the snow thaw one (mostly because that's the only one that makes sense to me!)!

Solas is a bit of a dark horse.

He also just let the cat out of the bag!

Lol. The information Lavellan was seeking cost an arm and a leg to get!

Should perhaps have explained them as well, but yeah the first one is my favorite too  :)

The first one simply means that you can never hide things forever, circumstances will change and all will be revealed.

The second one means you sometimes have to do questionable things to fight evil (I'm guessing Solas might approve of this one).

The third one is one which most introverts will get I think, that sometimes guests have a tendency to overstay their welcome and you wish you could leave.  :P

The fourth one means that a slight advantage (and sometimes disadvantage) in general can be a huge advantage in the right company of people.

The last one is pretty straightforward... unless you are a dreamer in Thedas it's usually hard to sin when sleeping!

Your last idiom... My Lavellan definitely is making bad puns about her hand as we speak, so she Greatly Approves :D

I hate AU coffee snob Solas LMFAO the more I think about him the more I hate him hahahaha what a douche

If he was in his early twenties and little bit more pretentious, coffee snob Solas would 100% be the Guy in your MFA.

First thing first, I seem to have offended you, if I did I apologize, it was not my intention.

I don't buy animals in the first place, I only adopt, so it's a bit different when it comes to expenses (less on my part), a very sick animal that can't be helped will be more often than not is put to sleep before you could adopt it in the first place (although I'm pretty sure you can buy sickly animals without your knowledge because breeding animals a lot of time includes inbreeding and purebreds are the sickliest).

A person who asks money for a terminally ill animal is an asshole, just because they keep seeing the animal as property even though they're suffering and dying, a person who asks for help to take care of a poor, dying animal is different thing.

The point of my original post was to state that a sick animal is still worthy of love and good life, if I were that person who would've learned the dog I got had cancer I would be sad and mad for the dog. Sad because his previous owners didn't love him enough, mad because they abandoned him when he needed them the most. I would then try to help the dog and invest in him until he gets better or dies from the cancer.

That's just me though, I understand from a firsthand experience how hard it is to take care of sick animal and it's perfectly normal not to be able to cope with it (I still don't cope well with it, I mourned weeks for each pet that I lost), I'm not speaking for anybody else but myself.

As for the costs, I know how it feels. My Chai suffers from obesity post-castration, something that happens to a lot of male cats, my country is expensive so his food costs 45$+ for 3.5kg. We're lucky that both my boyfriend and I earn enough so we can take care of two cats with relative ease. I know this is not the case for a lot of people, but just like with children, a pet costs extra money and that's something that should be taken into consideration when adopting one.

I don't think there is something wrong with people who won't adopt sick animals in order to avoid heartache, I just think that even sick animals deserve a chance, and if you can afford (mentally and financially) helping someone in need then you should.

Off-topic so I'll just spoiler tag it!

I make no apologies for liking DA:O more than DA:I

I'm kidding.

I miss crushing prison, though. and hexes. and paralysis spells. and blood magic. I think I actually prefer the characters in DA:I, and I think the themes explored are far more interesting, but DA:O is the sort of game I'll replay a lot just because of its combat.

All of the following from Friedrich Nietzsche:

  • You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist.

  • He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

  • There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness.

  • I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time.

  • There are no facts, only interpretations.

  • Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth because they don't want their illusions destroyed.

  • The higher we soar the smaller we appear to those who cannot fly.

There are many, many more...

I really like those! Perhaps Solas studied Nietzsche in his dreams?  ;)

It's kind of sad that most people will only think of Übermensch and the sad connection to the Nazis, as far as I'm able to understand Nietzsche he did not intend it to be interpreted that way at all.  :(

More Solas and Thedosian relevant Friedrich Nietzsche:

“All I need is a sheet of paper
and something to write with, and then
I can turn the world upside down.”

“you must be ready to burn yourself in your own flame;
how could you rise anew if you have not first become ashes?”

“That which is done out of love is always beyond good and evil.”

“Meaning and morality of One's life come from within oneself. Healthy, strong individuals seek self expansion by experimenting and by living dangerously. Life consists of an infinite number of possibilities and the healthy person explores as many of them as possible. Religions that teach pity, self-contempt, humility, self-restraint and guilt are incorrect. The good life is ever changing, challenging, devoid of regret, intense, creative and risky.”

“I would believe only in a God that knows how to dance.”

“The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.”

“In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule.”

“We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once.”

I like them all! I just mentioned it because I thought you might have been confused!

I love idioms because of how they're special to a language and it's so fun to hear other language's idioms and be  "that makes no sense!" I had a Dutch friend who was confused by "What's up?"  it seems so common place!

Axioms/maxims are awesome too though!

I love Nietzsche. Nietzsche has some of the absolute best one-liners. He's excellent at these scathing, fearless, witty quips, and he enjoys sticking the middle finger up at the establishment, particularly the church. Which is very Solas.

I think there are parts of Nietzsche which are very not-Solas though. He's very critical of compassion as the basis of morality, for example, seeing it increasing your own suffering for the sake of others, and in turn acts as paralysing force which weakens and disables people from instigating actual change, and thus is hypocritical. I'm not sure Solas would be on board with that.

He's basically the most problematic of problematic faves.

Edit: ToP, have some hilarious cosplay Solas & Hawke:

Uh, thee Solas thread should probably be renamed the Solas bullet train - that's how fast it moves!

May the Dread Train take you...!

ld-dgtlclr-concepts-transport-train-930x

edit: LOL, what an idea for a wacky, but dark modern AU - Solas, the brilliant engineer of an apocalyptic bullet train. Totally inspired by Snowpiercer.

Anyone watched this movie? Depressing as heck, but also intriguing and interesting - as well as somewhat fitting here when it comes to its theme in terms of wondering whether saving what's left of humanity *at all costs*, when we lose pretty much everything that make us 'us' worth it. If humanity was put in situation from Snowpiercer, I think I'd probably wreck the train myself.
