Bah alright, I wonder what kind of banter Cillian has (the one suspected to be working for Solas).

That's an interesting thing, 'cause I don't know if it is intended that way or if it is just buggy for me: In my multiplayer games the characters say the same 3 things over and over and over again. And it isn't really banter, it's more like "When all this is done I suspect I have to go back to the Deep Roads." - "I never understood your dwarven culture." (No exact quotes, but it's along those lines.) And I can't seem to turn it off? After hearing this for the tenth time I get (or become?) a bit ragey.. -_-

The newer characters do require a ton of materials to craft. You may get lucky though and unlock them via a chest. That's how I got the Avaar and Zither.

I got all of the original characters through chests and saved up for Isabella.

I don't mind the archer at all, I find with a little better gear and levels he can be quite good but it's also fun to play around with different ones.

Just let me know via PM if you wanna :)

Unless a lot has changed, I had a few characters that could solo the lower level if you want some practice before grouping with others etc (yes I was obsessed with it once lol)

Unlikely you say?  :?  Why do so many people on the forum think this is unlikely? Is it just because Dragon Age has always had a new protagonist before? Is it because that one vague statement about Dragon Age being about Thedas not any particular protagonist? Or, is it just that a lot of people on the forum like the new game=new hero thing and don't want it to change? If I hadn't heard any of this new game=new hero stuff online, Trespasser would have left me 100% certain the Inquisitor or ex-Inquisitor is coming back.

Weekes has said he intended for Trespasser to convey that there will be Solavellan closure in the future (as long as there is another game). I don't think he's cruel enough to consider a new pc asking Solas about his girlfriend or a war table mission closure. Trespasser only makes our Inquisitors more relevant in the story that is yet to come. It makes the "fight" with Solas personal. If we don't see the Inquisitor as a playable character for at least part of DA4 I will be extremely surprised.

People on other parts of the forum bring up the arm all time as evidence of new game=new protagonist. The missing arm is no excuse to toss out the Inquisitor as the protagonist. Losing the arm was the only way to ensure he/she would be alive to remain the protagonist. It provides Bioware with a believable way to reset the player's skill trees (like Shepard dying at the beginning of Mass Effect 2). If they took the Quizzy's arm just to make it "impossible" for her/him to be the hero that would be a pretty ugly and totally politically incorrect move on Bioware's part.

I think we have every reason to believe our Lavellans will meet Solas in a future game. Team Optimism!

Edit: Oops! Top Solas goodness from overflowing screenshot folder.

Spoiler

I'll like your thinking but I'm not an optimist in this matter no. Sorry.

Meh, in my game he mostly asks, "Anyone try that ham they had in camp yesterday?" I highly recommend the keeper. Her survivability is awesome, and she has the best line of banter ever. "Stupid shems."

Speaking of MP. I got "The Heart of Pride" staff from Trespasser for MP this weekend. My keeper's totally rocking Solas' staff from now on.  :P

Hmm I've never played with others so I'm not sure. I think there's a YouTube video of all the multiplayer banter though.

And thanks Asperath! I'll keep you in mind.

Finally got the invitation.

Here, my scrubby attempt for fanfic.

http://archiveofouro...apters/11449321

Feel free to point out really bad mistakes.

I was explaining the newly arised Cult of Fadecheeks to my husband today, while sitting in a crowded Starbucks.

Really good material right there.

:D

I'm reading it and really enjoying it!

I think that's the only kinda banter and I don't think you can turn it off unfortunately.

I never heard anything from Cillian remotely related to Solas/elven culture per say.

Is he working for Solas? I know a lot of the elves take off at the end of Trespasser but only one I've seen confirmed is the female guard in Trespasser.

Although it kinda would make sense esp considering the armour he wears (ancient elven like Abelas)

I got my Invite to AO3 in my inbox this morning. So before I had to wake the kid for school I set up the first chapter...It's the same from Fanfic so if you've already read it there isn't anything new except to fix some past present mistakes that I missed the first dozen times I edited the dang thing! I know that eventually this will have some smut, I've already written and cut a few scenes already because they were too soon in the story, so yeah...it's gonna happen.

For those that haven't and want to read it at AO3 here is the link In Dreams Lay Answers

Play on PC and download SkyUI.  Problem solved.

It looks a bit cluttered but.. better. It's just so annoying that the game was obviously designed for a controller  <_<

I hated the Skyrim UI so much that I wrote an essay about it as homework for game art class, the teacher wanted one page, he got 3.

SkyUI is amazing.  It may look cluttered in pictures but it's a thing of beauty in game.  Trust me, once you use it you will not be able to see how you ever played without it.

I have to say, I have pretty much the same line of thinking. Going into Trespasser, I was thinking they will end the story of the Inquisitor, but they have left it so open ended, that I can help my let my mind wonder if they will keep the same protagonist for DA4. It has all the pros that you are talking about

- seems like ex-quisitor is still relevant and has fight in her/him left

- story seems to not be completely resolved and very tight around hunt/redeem Solas plot

- lost arm seems like a prefect chance to wipe off all the skills/powers and start new (BTW, having disabled protagonist would be absolutely AWESOME in my books, just thinking of the cool weapons and gadgets that could be attached to her/his arm make me really excited)

BUT there are also many cons that are just as strong

- What about new players who don't know inquisitor and their story (yeah, I guess they could be caught up via-DA keep... but how many people will know about the keep? I only learnt about it (properly) after completing the game)

- What about romances, especially for non-solasmancers? Surely it won't be easy, again for new players, to continue romancing the same character (say Cullen) from DAI who they know nothing about?

- and finally 'It is a story about Thedas and not about any particular character' bit

I am sure there other pros/cons (I am also sure, people have discussed this before, sorry guys, catching up with the thread as been away), but these are the main ones going through my head. So I am still undecided of what is the likeliest outcome for DA4 protagonist... so I guess, yay Team Optimism?

I've decided that I'm actually happy either way.

I can see DA4, if it happens(I will starts riots if not), being great as the Inquisitor or a new protagonist. Or the dual option that is floating around.

Yeah, I think I will be happy either way too (possibly, a little bit disappointed either way too - just because I am stupid like that and no matter which way it goes, my stupid mind would go 'but if it was other way round...' haha), but ultimately I have so much trust in the whole DA team that no matter which way they chose to go, I will know that would be the best path for the gamers as well.

Exactly.....there will be a bit of sadness either way, but the story of Thedas is just so awesome no matter what character it is being told from. Whatever bitterness there could possibly be will be quickly overshadowed I'm sure by the awesome sauce that is DA team writing.

I hope that we'll get a satisfactory send off for Solas and Lavellan but I'm not sure if it will be with the Inquisitor as a protagonist or dual protagonists. Whatever happens, I'll be happy to play DA4 and experience all new angst and heartbreak with new companions, lol. Honestly, DA4 is several years away and by then I won't be as vested in Solas and Lavellan as I am now. Thinking on that, I hope that DA4 takes place several years after DAI so that Lavellan can have the same sort of healing that the players get!

I'd like them do have the option of either continuing one with the same character of having a new one. They did that with Awakening ( had to have something to play if you did the Ultimate Sacrifice ending in Origins after all).

They would never do that.

If the devs had and unlimited budget and time, maybe.  The sheer amount of dialouge needed would be astronomical.  You'd need dialouge for all four Inquisitor voices, plus at least two new voices.  Numerous lines would have to be recorded up to 6 times, and each peice of dialouge would have to have vairations accounting for romance, relationship in the past game, being the new PC, the state of the Inquisiton in the end game...

As much as I would absolutely love that, I think this would be unlikely. Reasons - what Illyria said -  imagine just how many different options you need to have just for romances. Taking over those from DAI and their outcomes (some LI could be dead, personal quests completed or not) plus adding new DA4 LI. Awakening (from what I understand as I haven't played it myself) was much smaller and didn't really have romance content.

Although as I said, in the world with all the funding and all of the possibilities, I would love this idea as it would totally tick all the boxes.

Did you read The Dread Wolf's Heart, Sunny?

If you haven't then you must, and I'll be a little bit jelly because I've exhausted all of her things and it hurts!

You know... I think the ice element is the one that makes the most sense for a Dalish mage.

It seems irresponsible to practice fire and lightning spells when you're living in the forest.

I haven't yet! I've heard great things about it too but I'll have to read it some other time. xD

It's an on-going Solavellan fic set after Trespasser and it involves time travel but it's done so well! The writing is great and I love the Lavellan featured there! Even the new cast of characters in this story are interesting! (*cough*Haninan*cough*). I highly recommend that you give it a read! :D
