.... And I still have no idea HOW redbubble works without anyone closing it
Like... people sell fanarts! Or even stuff picked right from Internet, without much modification
All those intellectual property issues!
....I suppose in the end this is where Internet was heading, but I still can't believe how popular RB is...
When it comes to the use of characters or items that may be sold, I think here at least, it falls under derivative works or something that leaves a window for fan art to be sold. I'm not too familiar with it, but some people have also stolen others' art and sold items on there. Some of my artist friends have seen or experienced things like that.
I have to say, tumblr is a lot more palatable if you find a few general fandom blogs to follow, and block people who offend you instead of getting into fights with them (which seems to be where 95% of fandom drama comes from). And if you choose to go into the tags or follow them, make sure you have something like X-kit or Tumblr savior to blacklist content you don't want to see.
Yeah, I just sort of followed random people when I started to use it, so occasionally the drama crosses my dash. I need to either go back and do a purge, or get rid of it altogether. I barely use it nowadays.
Thank you both for your advice, I would "like" your posts if this blasted site would let me! ![]()
It'S definitely not the easiest platform to learn. As for tumblr drama, I think the important part is to only follow those people you know aren't into it. I never go searching into the tags themselves, because here be dragons. But, I'll follow specific people, mostly fan art fan fanfic blogs. Oh, and Feynites has a tumblr now
Careful curation of who you follow is necessary. I follow some DA blogs, people from here, but also art blogs, games stuff, writing blogs, and sometimes counterparts to sites I read or issues I'm interested in.
I suppose I am oldschool, but I don't tweet (except automated ones) or never had Tumblr. I prefer my own blog and things.
Absolutely, positively nothing wrong with being "oldschool"!!! ![]()

I just "officially" signed up and have no clue how to use it. I'm not sure that I want to now, with all of this negativity/bs...
Yeah, Tumblr's kind of awful. For all it's talk of acceptance, the general community is ridiculously close-minded and cut-throat.
I basically only reblog other stuff and keep my opinions to myself, and carefully vet a blog before I follow them to make sure they generally stay out of drama.
As far as suggestions - Miyku makes some very nice gifs (Although she's more a general gaming blog) and Corseque almost always has an interesting opinion to share (Even if I don't always agree). They're both Solasmancers too, although neither blog exclusively Dragon Age.

No probs. Tumblr can be fun, but it comes with a learning curve - my husband refers to it as "the firehose" because it's just a constant stream of images and text that you have to filter carefully to get the stuff you want (and if you don't like or reblog something cool you want to look at again, chances are it's going to be hard to find later).
I've taken to keeping separate tumblrs for different fandoms so I can keep one from bleeding into the other (sometimes I just want to look at pictures of Solas, and sometimes I want to go look at that other thing I like, or that other thing). ![]()
Hello, I'm a lurker. I feel like a little intruder because you all seem to get along so well. So, I figured an awkward introduction was in order before I posted. I've been a bit intimidated by everyone's amazing and enlightening posts and theories. Seriously, not empty praise some posts have been so spot on they seemed like spoilers. I'm finally posting because I realized how much I don't want this game to simply end with my finishing a play-through or two.
After Trespasser I consider Solas to be the best written companion of the series to date for me; and yet not because I learned something more about him. No, quite the opposite I've been left with feelings of knowing less of him. I went in an Eluvian and came out with a whole new perspective as well as some confirmations on lore and legends from this series. He's not the trickster god of Dalish childish frights but he admits he is neither the savior painted in desperation in the Crossroads. I think he has reached me more deeply, more directly than any other character. I've always loved Morrigan on a friendship path and thought her to be well-written and poignant in her struggles to grow. He's similar to her in that regard because I didn't have to romance him either in order to appreciate him and truly love that analytical, morally grey and quietly observant (but strongly opinionated) mind of his. (But I did romance him and will continue to do so because optimistic fangirl is
optimisticstubborn. My Lavellan will not surrender! She conquers and comforts!) For some he may be perceived to be this emotionally detached man but I think he's allowed his past shame, guilt or commitment to hollow him. I think he knows it's easier to not wander from a set path when you let no one walk it with you because when you have another by your side you look at your surroundings differently. Suddenly there's a diverging path when there was but one before.
TL;DR or the 15 second have I ever wanted to hear one of your endless explanations version: I like Solas alot. He's imperfection makes him perfect and reflective. This thread is amazing. I apologize for rambling. If I post again I'll try to stay on topic.
Welcome unboard!
We are all in here in agreement with you. And If I might say I love characters like Solas the imperfect perfection. In DA 2 I was a Fenris fan and I still like Fenris about somehow Solas exceeds him. I guess I have a thing for elves ![]()

Nice analogy and great idea! I shall keep that in mind... ![]()
The Dread Wolf took the Inquisitor's hand, but the Inquisitor placed about him a slender seeming chain that he could not free himself from, no matter how he tried.

Just popping in from thesis advisor-induced hermitry to say, whoever recommended Daughter of the Empire, thank you so much, it's amazing, I haven't been this excited to read through a book in a while.
And popping back out again before the advisor spots me and fries me ![]()

I am celebrating it with my second cup of coffee, Father John Misty, and procrastinating for the hundredth day on this stupid Solavellan fanfic that won't write itself. ![]()
I forgot to mention that I finally had a dream the other night with Solas in it.
I remember old ruins covered in moss and tree roots. It was right after dusk and everything was going dark. He was talking to me but I could never hear the words he was saying (which is weird because usually people communicate telepathically to me in dreams and vice versa instead of with their mouths). But the impression I got from him was that the site was important and there was something there. What, I do not know.
Then it changed to people running around. I couldn't see their faces but they looked like they were trying to run and prepare for something bad about to happen. And I saw a city off in the distance across a plain; it was burning and the fire was spreading to where I was standing. And the word "Evanuris" was being whispered to me very faintly over and over. Solas was running ahead of me and was looking around at the people seeing if anyone was gravely injured. Then he started walking at a fast pace. Suddenly we were about 200 yards away from a large tower. It was massive and the windows had fire pouring out of them. He stopped and looked up at it while conveying the feeling of being uneasy and told me to look. And when I looked at the tower, it seemed to triple in size, and was coming closer to where we were standing. He had a pained look on his face and gasped. I also got a sense that something or someone was on it's way. Something that was more terrifying than anything that we've seen before. Very ominous.
Solas then looked at me and said "We need to move. Go!". So I turned and as we started to run, the dream ended.
I don't know what it means but it was weird.
Perhaps it's your worries about the next game or something bad will actually happen that you may have foreseen. But hopefully just worries....

On tumblr: I've used it for about two years now, on-and-off. My blog is 99% shitposting and the occasional painting or political post - asides from an NGE phase I had last year (a decade late, well done me), I feel quite weird stepping into fandom, I've consciously avoided it for years.
As for using tumblr, there are lots of different ways of approaching it - some see it as a social network, but I tend to view it as an online depository. I tend to think of it as personal collection of beautiful pictures, amusing .gifs, good jokes
Thank you! ![]()
hehehe..a friend of mine just posted this on Facebook.

Is it just my imagination, or have posted images gotten larger recently??? ![]()
My two pence on tumblr:
I am still confused on how to use it properly. lol
I joined after falling in love with DAI and Solas, and realising how much awesome art is getting posted on tumblr. So I follow almost anyone - artists, reblogs, cosplayers - an do very little to curate the list of blogs I follow. Somehow in this mess, I also managed to avoid all tumblr drama. Maybe it is because I don't really comment, just mostly reblog art and do my podcast post every two weeks or so. I think I am approaching tumblr too much like pintrest... but I don't like pintrest... (this makes no sense to me either. I did say I was confused... haha).
So yeah, if someone could educate me on how to use tumblr properly (
), that would be lovely! (Maybe not in this thread, I wouldn't want to get us in the off-topic trouble).
His hands are occupied with something else in the moment.
(It's not what it sounds like!)
LOL
