Also, things that may or may not have just happened when I tried to make a second cup of coffee:

-I opened the sugar and was about to spoon that into the coffee maker basket before realizing what I was about to do.

- I put in too little coffee at first

- I had to check and make sure to put in water. (I have actually run it once before without pouring water in.)

It has now been made, and I think not too soon.

And it's always good to see happy Lavellan.  Or at the very least, happier.  God knows we need more of it in the fandom.  Kinda telling when "happy" is the anomaly, isn't it? :P

I'm enjoying writing fluffy/happy Lavellan but I had to go 15-17 years in the past to do so. :P

If I went that far into the past, my Lavellan would be a kid.  Pestering her cousins, learning how to shoot a bow, falling out of trees.  Asking her poor dad uncomfortably pointed questions about the Dread Wolf :D

"Like" <3

Edit: One example of a happy post-Trespasser fic (for those who haven't seen it)

The doubt gremlins have taken over my mind. I'm staring at my current fic chapter and can't bring myself to write like at all. Everything sucks and I want to burn my fic (although, probably not as it would mean burning my computer). Doubts suck, man.

I actually sat around and starting thinking up a past to explain why my 29 year old Lavellan was not bonded by that age....and it was nothing but sad.

So, onward to the future!

It's a familiar feeling, but it will come to you. Maybe just write a few stray lines or thoughts down that you can pull from and shape into what you need to happen next. Sometimes just doing that will net you 90% crap but the 10% may have nuggets you can put to good use.

Mostly it means I'm comparing myself to others, as usual, and I never come on top of those. I really should stop doing that, I know.

Art break.

Trespasser: Beautiful sketch of Solas and Lavellan.

Trespasser: "What happened doesn't change anything, da'len." (Solas and male Lavellan)

So this one time... :P (Solas and male Lavellan.) Was he about to call Solas "dad"? xD

I've got a few small drabbles about when Clariel was a cute, shy little kid. I'm sure you can empathize; it's a lot of fun writing Lavellan before her life goes t*ts up. Maybe I'll organize and post them eventually.

I've really liked your fic so far :) So those "others" conjured by your doubt gremlins can stuff it!

Piggybacking off Cee's advice, whenever I'm really stuck, I jump around and just write a different section. It may not be direct progress but it gets the juices flowing again.

I've been on Tumblr going on 3 years now. I honestly wonder how much "tumblr drama" really exists and how much gets blown out of proportion, cus I never see it. lol Like I'll see someone complaining about "hate in the tags" for a particular character or fandom, but when I go in there, I see like, maybe two actual posts that are hating on something. Maybe I'm just tumblring wrong?

Yeah, I wonder about that too - are people really that thin-skinned that they can't bear to see any criticism of their faves?

I mean Solas is well... Solas. He does and says things that give people plenty of ammunition - and alternately he has tons of fans because he really is that interesting and dynamic of a character. Honestly, even his haters couldn't hate him so much if he weren't worth caring about.

Cut for blather about Solas' endgame-

Spoiler

Yep, I do this too and it can really help.

It's not uncommon for me to leave gaps with [WORDS]

or [DIALOGUE] that I just leave as placeholders before writing what IS coming to me.

The good thing is that writing is a thing that happens in stages and it's completely fine to do it out of order, because people are wired to work well with different methods.

It's definitely fun because it gives a chance to just explore who this person is and what has shaped her. Life at that point came with a whole other set of expectations. And the eventual changes lead to both more freedom and more confinement. Feeling out a full arc has been fun to explore.

Usually I'd make a pot of hot water because I forgot to put the coffee in. This was when I left the basket in the machine and would bring the filter and coffee over. Now I fill the basket at the sink and carry it over with the pot of water. I make far less pots of 'tea' water now.

Yours turned out really great though!

I'm convinced that when the time comes I'm going to stare into my screen and actually see Zevran and Lavellan stare back saying "Yeah, WE wanted to kiss like 4 chapters ago. We're making this difficult just to make you work for it now."

And that is when I will officially admit I have gone too far in this fandom.

I find that writing it helps get it out of my system. I write it as it's a later chapter and set it aside to pull in later, or not, when I get to that point i may want something else. I have a few chapters that are 'extras' for now that most likely won't make it into the story, but I had to write them at the time. Ah, and no not all of them are smut scenes. -_-

Yeah sorry, had a serious peptalk/scolding session with the adviser, so now I'm on semi-hiatus mode on everything. I'll still pop in every now and then though, here and at the collection :D

OH and I forgot to mention, I'm really sorry about your friend Kadan. My grandfather passed just a few months ago, and I'm still hit with the occasional bout of grief. But at least they're in a better place now. Or if you don't believe in the afterlife, then as you said, your friend had a good life. Take it easy, yeah?

I'm sorry about your grandfather. I lost mine three years ago. I wasn't able to go to the funeral since it's across the country. My mother brought me back a Peace Lily that someone had sent and it blooms every year the month he died.

Don't compare yourself to others. Whenever I do that, I tend to give up.

Besides, you never can please everyone, right? :)

Didn't intend to romance him, but this guy has a great voice. I am a sucker for deep voices. (Vin Diesel, anyone?) ... or smooth ones. Damn.

LOL! I think stuff like that generally happens to a lot of people. My sister told me one time when we were still kids that she once called her Math teacher "dad". It was awkward.

I'm usually not as bad as today, but when I found myself nearly spooning sugar into the basket...

This is really beautiful. The anniversary of my grandma's passing (19 years now) was last month, and I have this stuffed bunny she gave me on what turned out to be her last Easter, and I keep her with me. I took that bunny with me to Spain when I studied abroad and back again. That bunny is pretty much like my comfort plushie.

Usually, I'll end up with [missing] when I can't see something. But, it's really hard for me not to write in order. It goes against the way I learned how to write, and I keep feeling bad when I can't come up with the words completely right the first time. It's an exhausting way to think about writing though, so I'm trying to be better about it.
