I actually switched to Rockstar by Nickelback to see if it'll help. Yes, drosophila's terrible taste in music knows no bounds.

"In the Temple of Mythal, there's a Pac-Man reference made out of cheese wheels. It will take a keen eye to spot this one in the courtyard because it's mostly covered up by Ivy.

Additionally, there's a failed cheese-summoning ritual midway through the temple. It will be pretty dark, so make sure you bring someone who can cast a bit of light.

The Storm Coast had a cheese boat crash into one of the basalt columns in the water. You'll have to use some unorthodox means to get to this one, but you'll know it when you see it. While on your way to the boat, you might want to check out the three statues in the treasure room—they have some cheesy surprises.

Lastly, if you are in Crestwood, you shouldn't have too hard a time finding cheese in odd locations. Leave no stone unturned."

I'm kind of in and out of the feels corner. Cole put me there but also made me laugh. I have ideas sparking, but they'll have to wait until tonight.

There's always someone better. Let's say it is a simple ranking and you're in the top 0.01% best writers in the US, that still leaves 3,000 people just as good as you! (I mean the general you here.) Which is why comparisons are only there to make us all miserable. 
 
Pretty much every single person on this thread who writes has intimidated me at some point. I remind myself that having an individuality, developing my unique characteristics as a writer is more important, and these will never be better or worse than anyone else's. Then I focus not just on the writing itself, but on building a community for us, because being a part of something bigger than myself and influencing, though not controlling, is a good perspective.

I get that problem too

I think often, when that gets you down, you need to remind yourself that firstly, you write fanfiction for yourself. It's for fun. Improving your writing is an enjoyable side-benefit that comes with it. I mean, to quote the egg himself, you choose a path whose steps you don't dislike. It's your own journey, and can be as short/long, fast/slow, as you feel comfortable with and want it to be.

I also try and take a positive attitude to other people's work. I try and look at Feynite's stuff and break down what they've done so well, and I try and remind myself that there's some things they can do which I'm also perfectly capable of on a good day, if I think about it.

I dunno! You'd have to ask the devs. For the sake of simplicity and consistency though when it comes to my own head I think the DA:I vallaslin designs apply to all Dalish, and so yes, I updated my mental images of Merrill, Velanna, Mahariel, etc. Since the DA:I vallaslin are not Lavellan-exclusive. Kind of like how if we were to meet a Dalish elf again from previous games I think they would be redesigned/overhauled to follow the way elves look in DA:I, as opposed to staying the markedly different DA:O (short human) and DAII (Na'vi aliens) iterations.

I think variant vallaslin designs across the games could be made part of canon quite easily given that the clans are quite isolated and over time they have each developed their own unique, specific culture, emphasising different values and practices. I headcanon at the moment that clans often have their own take on each god's design, and there are multiple variant styles of vallaslin which have been amended and altered over time, as well as more 'traditional' styles which are possibly closer to the original slave markings.

I am still confused on how to use it properly. lol
 
I joined after falling in love with DAI and Solas, and realising how much awesome art is getting posted on tumblr. So I follow almost anyone - artists, reblogs, cosplayers - an do very little to curate the list of blogs I follow. Somehow in this mess, I also managed to avoid all tumblr drama. Maybe it is because I don't really comment, just mostly reblog art and do my podcast post every two weeks or so. I think I am approaching tumblr too much like pintrest... but I don't like pintrest... (this makes no sense to me either. I did say I was confused... haha).
 
So yeah, if someone could educate me on how to use tumblr properly ( ), that would be lovely! (Maybe not in this thread, I wouldn't want to get us in the off-topic trouble).

tbh I think that's the best way to use tumblr. if you reblog mostly images and videos, you tend to ignore all the drama buried in text posts. you're not missing out, really.

Also re: the tumblr thing:
 
My understanding is that there is a certain tumblr user who I wont name and shame who has been writing stuff that isn't just Solas-critical, it's actually going after the fans of Solas and Solavellan themselves.

I can understand drama could happen, especially if someone thought the relationship was genuinely abusive and toxic. If I felt that way, I would probably call out the fans for romanticising it, I'd see it as a responsibility almost. 'live and let live' doesn't apply in that kind of situation.

Thing is, the relationship itself is not that bad. Solas is not manipulative, controlling, he doesn't obligate Lavellan to do anything, he doesn't cut off her support network or insist on her doing things that make her uncomfortable. If anything, he encourages her autonomy. During the main game, any power imbalance that could exist is suspended because of his relative lack of power and her position as Inquisitor. If that's their gripe, they're in the wrong, really.

Which leaves things at an impasse where one user feels that they're obligated to point out this horrible thing, and fans in turn feel obligated to defend said relationship because otherwise you're insulting people who've actually experienced this horrible thing, and neither feel that they can back down, and it ends up badly. There's no way both sides are right, and there's no way both sides can reasonably agree to disagree over something that bad.

People often talk about fiction being subjective but I think issues like this highlight that often it really isn't.

Also, is tumblr still a topic? There's ALWAYS something going on lol. I've had an account for a couple years, but it's gotten to the point where I continually take month or longer sabbaticals for the sake of my emotional health.

It has its good parts, which is why I still have an account, but I just can't stay on there for too long. I know it's time for a break when I find myself getting irrationally annoyed at all the tumblr-speak and memes, or when useless fandom drama comes up. No thank you, ma'am.
