That sounds more do-able. Have any idea on when?
How long does this take?
An evening or a weekend might be most enjoyable. Any day after 8 pm EST.

For a learning game, I'd say about three hours. An hour for learning and character creations, and two hours to run a short adventure. We might be able to shave some time off of that if we coordinate character creation via email beforehand.
Roll20 is system-agnostic, which means it can be used for any RPG. But IMO 5th edition D&D would be the easiest to learn. I'm familiar with running it, and the Wizards site has quick-start rules and pre-made character sheets. Thoughts? The other system I run is Call of Cthulhu, and I know that cosmic horror isn't everyone's schtick ![]()
I don't know the type of nerds who play tabletop games either. Or any RPG for that matter.
We could have a Solas thread table top RPG in a chat room or something? Or is this not feasible/not sounding like fun?
I've never tried GMing via roll20 or the other online systems. But I'm totally down to look into it if you guys are interested.
I didn't even know you can play tabletop RPGs online
I'm in!

Honestly it depends on the game - I'm in CST and evenings or Saturdays will work for me.
From past experience with regular gaming (for one-shots), if you have everything set up in advance (the players have characters & rules, etc), probably 2-3 hours, longer depending on the GM, how much socializing goes on (or when everyone throws in the towel for sleep).
My Sunday tabletop group usually starts around 3pm and goes until 9pm with a 1hour dinner break in the middle, but we do long campaigns, like months and years long.

5e D&D has a couple different sets of pre-written two hour "tutorial" adventures meant for level 1 characters. That's how I've been teaching 5e at conventions, anyway. It's harder online than in-person, but roll20 has voice chat, so we should at least be able to talk to one another.
Clearly Sable has GMed my likes away again.
You've all seen me at my intimidating best
Am I the one on the right or the left?

I have the 5e box set, but haven't had the chance to play it yet, should be fun! There's a bunch of character generators for it online, though I'm cool with premades. Don't have a mic, but I can probably borrow my husband's.
I function in GMT, although my sleep pattern is... wack, to say the least.
Basically, if it's a weekend, I can do anything before 4am.
also, I'm caving, and making a DA dedicated sideblog on tumblr. Who's good at coming up with urls? Trying to think of something snappy. No elven. Trying to resist putting 'mage rage' in there (I'm a total sucker for rhymes). Gah - now I remember why I never bothered with this until now.
Don't mind me, continue your discussion... I'll just leave those here...

Let's do character creation via email then. I'm up for any medieval-like fantasy setting.

Bah
That's what I get from trying out new hosting site...
Back to Imgur. My previous post updated.
Re: timing - what's a rough estimate of when we can do this? This week? Next week? In two weeks? I can set up a when2meet.

Ah, ok!
Still, it's better to update for something that everyone can see ![]()

Hmm. Not this weekend, it's my boyfriend's 30th birthday. Probably next week? So I can have time to learn the roll20 system, and we can all suss out character sheets and basic rules beforehand. I'll send out a group PM sometime today or tomorrow once I've figured out what I'm doing ![]()

Sounds good, I'll PM Sable my e-mail, and I guess we can set everything up from there.
