Clan Lavellan are used to dealing with humans. It's likely that she would be used to seeing them. As a hunter she may have traded with humans, as the First she may have gone with the Keeper to arrange passage through lands, or open relationships with human settlements.
.... Mine is so curious about humans and outside world that frequently when the clan's near some human settlement she just sneaks out to mingle or trade some herbs or game for stuff like books, knowledge, necessities not easily obtainable by usual trade or trinkets (she has a bit of a thing for frilly jewelry) ![]()
The clan knows this - some approve, some don't; she usually manages to get away with it, because aside from Deshanna not really opposing to it she uses her personal charm and convinces most that it's actually useful: she brings some more exotic supplies, news or gossip. And since she's most familiar with moving around humans, she was the natural choice for a Conclave spy, despite some objections from the clan that Deshanna is sending their First on a dangerous mission (though some may be secretly relieved and hope for a new one. As much as Asura is liked and the clan is generally open-minded, her ideas may be considered a bit too revolutionary, even for the clan's Keeper).

I'm currently at capacity for this upcoming game (it's really not a good idea to try and play with more than seven and a GM). But if this doesn't crash and burn, and any of you are interested in future games, just PM me ![]()
EDIT: Oh, and for shy folks--you don't have to talk. It's easier with a mic, but by no means necessary. Roll20 has a chatbox ![]()

Likewise. In the immediate aftermath, I figured my Lavellan would be very wary of pissing off the shems. The Inquisition is her only buffer from execution for the death of Divine Justinia, after all. She needs them. I imagine her thinking, "play nice, smile, say all the right things, and maybe I can get out of here in one piece..." only to find, later on, that she actually DOES have sympathy for these humans. Just like Solas learning to see us mortals as "real," Lavellan relatively quickly discovers that people are just people, and feels sympathy for their plight.
I think, for mine, that Bull would be the one to jog that into her, because up until that point all her interactions with them are fake and her viewing their decently towards her is because they think she's Andraste's Herald and they treat Solas kindly because he is useful.

Shy folks - don't be shy. This is us! You know us already. But as someone very shy, I understand.
Shy Fly? No, can't be!

Its kinda difficult for my current Lavellan, since I thought up her dad a long time ago and he is city elf that was in a similar position that the city elf warden was in his/her origin. She's close to her dad, and he has a difficult time letting what the humans had done to him go, just like its hard to think of the city elf warden letting wht happened to them go. And since she's close to him that mindset that humans are bad would influence her perception.

*Pops in*
Trying to get a better feel for my Lavellan, but I'm not sure how to go about my Lavellan feeling anything but contempt for humans at all times. In that case, why would she help the refugees? Particularly since she thinks humans are all ungrateful ba****s.
I'm wondering, how do your Lavellans deal with humans and what they're outlook on helping them are? Also, how did this translate to the relationship with their human companions? I feel like I'm out of character for being anything but cold towards them.
any mage lavellan, if they're apprenticed to the keeper, has probably accompnied them to talk/negotiate with human traders/farmers if need be. Clan Lavellan takes a relatively friendly approach to humans and I think Deshanna would most likely have (stern) negotiations with them in the past.
for hunters, it's possibly a little more difficult to justify. I imagine they would possibly be quite apathetic to human suffering (particularly if they're poor refugees), rather than hostile, because of clan lavellan's previous encounters with humans, but perhaps if they sought the approval and attention of some companions (Solas, for instance), they might consider helping out a bit more.
one way to get around it is by being very very hostile at the beginning (even my super diplomatic, lawful good, clan mom Bronwyn Lavellan was pretty uncoperative at first just because of how hostile the beginning is), but to slowly warm to people after they make it clear v. quickly that you're safe and they'll defend your position there.
it's a good question and makes for an interesting RP exercise.

Considering that I don't know how long I'd last, you can count me out first - I may at least join and see how you're playing, if that's alright.

Mine would think that would be a bit suicidal since they could kill her at any second. She wasn't aggressive with Cass when she asked to help the Inquisition because she knew she would die if she didn't. Its just a bit hard to justify friendships like with Dorian and Cassandra. While my Lavellan feels are all humans are bad, not just those in Terventer, since the people in Orleias would proubebly be just as bad if given the chance. Its hard justifying friendlyness with Dorian since he is a slavery apologist. Also, Cass can be racist as well and doesn't understand why my Lavellan hates the Chantry.

I might join the D&D thing later. It sounds like a lot of fun. I hate to commit to things though since I have health issues that might interfere with me attending. Maybe I'll do what Tea said and just watch a few times if I'm feeling well.

That's a tough situation, but I would imagine that it would be a lot easier to relate to "regular people" than the nobility and/or chantry. Also, mages or any "repressed people" would perhaps have more kinship.

I do that, but I feel it kinda ruins the RP. The others aren't doing anything for you're approval, why are you doing it for theirs? Especially at the start.

My Lavellan at least has a fondness for the wardens, since they are the only institution that would elevate an elf to high rankings like commander. Outside of the Circle at least.

I can relate, totally...Unfortunately my social awkwardness, anxiety, and shyness extends to the 'net too...but I'm trying.

I definitely know something about that, being perfectionist myself and a non-native English speaker. But after I began playing ESO people encouraged me to join them in voice chat and group activities and I've realized how much fun it is ![]()
