I would absolutely break something and say some very choice words if Solas is another "heal me with your hoo-ha because of my dead wife" character. Sorry Solas, I may just murderknife you out of years-long pent up anger over that trope.

With as much as things appear to be shaken up at this point, I have hopes we will encounter less cliches and tropes than usual with this cast of characters.
I was hoping to romance him with a female elf anyway so this changes nothing for me, but I'm looking forward to finding out why he's so restricted.

These had better be some super impressive story reasons for this level of gating...
This was honestly my biggest fear with the Cassandra romance, that the content wouldn't be specific enough to really warrant it being gated other than "The writers felt like it."
Like if I had replaced a male inquisitor with a female one and the romance dialogue still made complete sense and yet she was gated from women, that would be so ****** depressing, lol.
Quoting my own darn self to remind everyone of the tweet Chris Priestly (former BioWare employee) made saying that Solas is a character people will be talking about for a long time.

I'm not sure about the kids thing even though I uncomfortably speculated about that and him being straight very shortly, but every time I think about the elven babies thing now I think that it might be too easy of an explanation. Mark Darrah hinted that there's a VERY interesting reason that makes super story sense behind it, and I doubt that they'd throw it on the "I want to make sure than the elven race continues to exist", it's just.. too simple, at least that's what my gut is telling me

This might be the only thing that would tear me away from his romance. I'm not into my Inquisitor being a replacement for a lost love and Solas looking for another female elf JUST to fill that place in. Nooo thank you.

Been trying to catch up with the crazy fast moving thread but got that Solas is confirmed as romance to female elf only. I've got mixed feelings about it I admit. I was reaaaaallly hoping for my female qunari to get with him. Like really wanted that, but stil pretty happy about him being confirmed and am rather intrigued why he's so restrictive and the story reasons behind it.
So.. thinking I'm going to make my first playthrough be a female elf. And the second one see about my qunari going after Cullen if he's not restricted against qunari. Thank goodness for multiple playthroughs and the fact I like elves.

Whilst I am happy that my main quizzy can roll Solas, I feel for those who don't have him. Wouldn't surprise me now if Blackwall is an Li as ratios are all over the place.
Seriously. After this, I've just tossed all my expectations out the window and am waiting not-so-patiently to see who the final LI is. It could be either of them.

Well, seeing as "being able to have elven children" would be the most important characteristic for him when picking a partner and entering a relationship, he'd probably dump your inquisitor if she's not able to have children to fix his loneliness and ensure that the elven race lives on.
Edit: assuming that his reasons for being gated are indeed children. I still hope that's not the case, but I don't expect we'll be able to get confirmation either way before launch.
*shrugs* Not sure, he'll probably still love her. Or be Jacob 2.0.

Welp, congrats to female elf players. Looks like my quizzy will be admiring Solas from afar, or they'll be good friends at least. Maybe I'll convince myself to make a female elf somewhere down the line. Oh well.
C'mon guys. Don't get down yet. There is still a decent chance that the last one is Blackwall and, if so, I couldn't imagine that he'd also be straight. So we might get a third option still!

You can still be an open-minded person and have a sexual preference... I do think the "I want people to see me as more than an elf", but still only can be with elves is a little weird. Bioware is good at what they do, Partick Weekes knows what he's doing, I am 100% sure there will be a very good explantion to it all.. Not just I want babies O_o
