I woke up this morning and had the grand idea of writing up party banter if my Lavellan had been a companion in Inquisition instead of the Inquisitor.

 

This was fun.

I only meant that the first chapter seemed to go nowhere quickly. Solas is asleep for most of it, and her rearranging the furniture is the most exciting thing to happen before I gave up.

I haven't read your fic since I'm non partial to modern AUs or modern protags thrown into the world, so I font know what yours is like.

I think the dread wolf's heart is like one of those songs that start out soft and low and just gets more and more epic as it goes on. Then it gets softer again but with a different tone compared to the beginning. Anyway I think it is a worthwhile read.

Action is not inherently... ah, never mind - it is good to have own taste, of course. I liked the slow-mo, as I like relaxed flow and too quick of a flow kind of scares me in books - but if it's written nicely, I enjoy it thoroughly.

I quite agree on the AU, usually I can't get over it. But some are ok, and enjoyable even. Modern protag thrown somewhere I do not mind, as it can bring unique struggles. Same the other way around, although that's even cheesier for me - anyone did that, btw? Throw the usual, traditional Solas in, let's say, New York?

I can't unsee Solas as the dorky absentminded professor.  (Though I'm not a fan of him and grad student Lavellan...I work at a university, and that is just twelve different kinds of inappropriate.)

 

So maybe he's in a suit because he's at some fancy academic conference, preparing for his workshop on research methods in the Fade.  Also known as napping

Nope, no professor Solas for me. Professor Solas in general makes me uncomfortable. 

 

I see dorky absentminded Solas as a poet, musician, or artist, or all three. He would also be one of those tortured souls, because while the quality of his work is spectacular, nobody understands his creations, because they're all inspired by visions in the Fade. 

 

So he's sitting there in his suit which he bought from the thrift store and fixed up with magic, thinking solemnly how this gallery opening/jazz concert/poetry reading will be yet another failiure. Why is he even trying anymore? He will never reach those simple-minded gremlins with his work. 

 

But tonight is different. At first almost no one shows up to the gallery opening/jazz concert/poetry reading, and those who do leave in the middle of it. But a very curious-looking woman approaches him and says how this is the best thing she's ever seen/heard.
