So I am guessing most of us here wants to redeem Solas. I am just hoping that for those who want to kill him, the writers will give him a clean death like Corypheus. Man, some of the hate for Solas on the other threads and all the details of how they want to kill/torture him just makes me go o_O.

Judging from all the posts here, I guess that makes me a disgusting horrible person for being the only one here that likes Professor Solas then. Figures...
I think I'll take my leave now.
I don't know if I'm a terrible person or not, but in my head Professor Solas would be unbelievably hot. Every time I see "Buffy", I always think she's such a stupid idiot for not immediately seducing Giles. What is she thinking?! It's an outrage. So yeah...I'm all for that.
I'm trying to think of a Solas I wouldn't like. Maybe waste management Solas? Or bureaucrat Solas? Taxman Solas! Now you wanna talk "power imbalance" kinda stuff? I mean that's pathological! Taxman Solas should push everyone's outrage buttons.

OK, D&D teaching moment!
Roll 1d20, and add your Sleight of Hand skill. Your skill is determined by your Dexterity bonus (anywhere from -4 to +4) and your proficiency modifier if you are trained in the skill (+2 at level 1). Compare your total Sleight of Hand to my passive Perception (10+ my Perception skill). If you match or beat my passive Perception (we'll say it's 12 since I'm fairly oblivious), you win and steal your likes back!
If you fail, then I notice. And I hiccup tiny fluffy monster sparks all over the sneak thief
Wow, if this is a preview of Saturday I'm screwed.
Seems fun though.

So0o0o0o0o0o.......what I was working on......
......this is a new chapter.
>_>
It was used purely to get out of whatever weird place I went at the end of the previous one. Kinda slow I think. I don't know. And I'm sure full of mistakes because I truly threw this one together and was extra distracted by life.
But whatever, we have to move forward to get on to better things.

I wouldn't worry about it. Allowing players to torture isn't BioWare's style. Obsidian lets you do some intensely messed up things, but not BioWare for the most part.

I promise you're not screwed. I'm breaking down all the numbers that go into a roll in that post. Most of the time, either roll20 or I will do the math ahead of time, and it'll be like this:
Figment: I want to steal my likes back!
Sable: OK. Roll 1d20+Sleight of Hand.
Figment: I got a 15!
Sable: You succeed! You get 2 likes back!
(or alternatively)
Figment: Uh oh. Only an 8.
Sable: You fail. I, the tiny fluffy monster, notice your villainous attempt at thievery! I spit sparks and deal 3 lightning damage!

I dunno, BioWare let me shock the hell out of Vette and I was doing it cause I didn't like her, lol
Good times.
Though I get the original point and that would be pretty out there for them to put that kind of stuff going on in the game. I'm still having trouble grasping people being that mad at Solas. Dislike him, cool, I see it.....but you want to torture him.....?

Like I understand being immersed into the game, but this seems like wayyyy too much immersion into a fantasy world.

It sounds like people are actually losing sleep over their hate of Solas.

I will admit to losing sleep over my conflicted feels about Anders. But that was because some of Anders' issues (especially his depressive phases) hit uncomfortably close to home.
EDIT: Oh, I did really loathe the Catalyst. But I originally forgot about him because he's no longer in my game, and therefore not my problem ![]()

Ah, I forgot about TOR. You can do some messed up things on the Sith/Imperial side, but IMO that's part of the fantasy? If you're billing the Sith Warrior as the "Darth Vader" RP experience, you'd better be able to Force-choke a fool. Obviously not everyone's into that though.

I'm all for redeeming Solas lol. The hate for Solas is going pretty wild and crazy when I saw some of the posts I was like ok then don't know why you would want to do that. Understand why some may dislike him but all out murder and torture really.

Well, that's what I mean by DA mind reeling stuff. Like, I've sat around and processed things about real life in relation to DA stuff because just as you say, it hits close to home. And is totally a sign of a good game IMO.
I'm just a little worried about the folks out in the world who truly seem personally offended by Solas. Like, real life personal offended. I mean, what happened yo?

I think Buffy stepped aside for Willow to have Giles, since we know that Willow had a massive crush on him in the early seasons (and even his picture in her locker). Even when she was with Tara in the later seasons, the sight of Giles singing karaoke made her a little weak at the knees...
(Everytime I think I need to rewatch Buffy because it's been years, my detailed knowledges of the show makes me think that I probably don't need too...)
Actually, Solas being the Dead Wolf and Giles being a former rebel Watcher known as "Ripper" actually makes me think that a fusion fic combining both Buffy and Dragon Age could seriously work! And as a challenge to the thread's Photoshop Gods, is it possible to create a Solas!Giles?

Solas played them for fools, most likely.
We discussed this briefly when killabee was around, but people tend not to like it when their PCs get the short end of the stick. Part of the escapism is that you are playing The Hero. You save the day, get the boy or girl, and ride off into the sunset on a unicorn. When that doesn't happen, and especially when someone like Solas or Anders gets the better of The Hero at the end, people get very personally offended. Like the perceived betrayal of their beloved PC applies to the player too.
It's obviously irrational, but I can see where it comes from.

Now thinking about Solas' sweater and what's underneath...
Oh, the wrinkles around his abs... I'm on team Sexy Sweater Wrinkles.
Can I just say that the way his body is built is basically my idea of a super attractive build - tall and with a lot of muscle definition, but the muscles are not bulky, they are just very well defined.
Dagna: Hmm...but if you tie a slice of buttered toast to a cat--
Sera: You're daft.
Two hours later:
Public Safety officer: Miss, care to explain why you were found in the engineering building after hours with a toaster, memory foam, and your PI's cat?
Dagna: ...science?
I'm sure this or something very close has happened IRL already ![]()

Yeah, I'm still p*ssed about the spies.
But the rest - I actually enjoy HCing a Lavellan who thinks she's the Super Clever Savior of Awesome, only to make a bunch of dumb mistakes, screw up her world state, and realize she's been played for a fool and that she's not that clever, after all.

Yeah well... it does make the seething rage of such people both amusing and annoying though. Like, they're not 'offended' by Solas's actions and want to punish him because it's a proper course of action, but specifically because it was done to THEM.

I understand being very angry for like a day when you're still in the game, but some people seem to be eternally angry. And even when I'm realllyyy angry, I never want to torture anyone. Kill yes, but not torture.

I was angry for a long time after ME3, but that was less at a character and more at the writers/developers for letting the game go in that direction. And I never want to torture them.
