I'm such a nerd. I get really embarrassed whenever I try to draw Solas. D:

 

I just refused to draw anything DA-related unless I finish my Lavellan first, or I'll never finish that damn thing -.-

Grrrr, in the middle of an e-mail argument with my prof. SOB gave me a zero grade on an assignment that isn't due until tonight. His lame ass excuse was the post was due yesterday well I call BS! BS! BS!  (He posted it yesterday afternoon and all assignments have a deadline of midnight) So even by his own logic he should see that he posted a grade prior to the assignment deadline! *cussing in both English and elvish right now*

 

He better pull his head out, or I'm sending my e-mails to his department head. Not taking his frigging crap. You can't just pull a date out of thin air and expect all students to just bend over and take it! At the time of the zero grade one 1, yes that's right one student had posted on the discussion. "You really don't have anything better to do than criticize my sweater?  I didn't realize you'd given up on qualification exams so easily."  Solas tugged up the collar of his turtleneck and shivered.  Where was that coffee?  At this rate, he might as well live on ramen for a few weeks to afford an espresso machine of his own.

Solas looked up and felt his stomach lurch.  The pretty barista from last weekend was standing next to their table, his cup of coffee in hand.

 

"Here you go," she said, carefully placing it next to his stack of notes.  "Sorry to keep you waiting."

 

Dorian, of course, was eavesdropping.  Insufferable gossip.  "Thank you," he said, smiling up at her.  Then on a sudden, insane whim, he added, "Are you working next weekend?"

 

She raised an eyebrow at him.  "Who's asking?"

 

"My name is Solas," he said.  "This is my housemate Dorian, who flaked on me for that free Shakespeare festival on Saturday.  Would you like to come with me?"

 

The girl stared.  So did Dorian, teaspoon clattering into his saucer.

 

"I'm on the clock, you don't even know my name, and you're asking me to watch Shakespeare with you," she said flatly.  Before he could read it, she covered up the nametag pinned to her jacket.  

 

Then miraculously, she laughed and shrugged her shoulders.  "Fine, smooth guy.  I don't have plans for Saturday.  When does it start?"

 

"Six."  Solas fought the urge to laugh at Dorian, who looked rather like someone had punched him in the face.

 

"OK.  I'll meet you outside the park subway stop at ten before."  Before he could say anything else, she turned and walked away with a bit of a spring in her step.

 

Dorian's mouth was hanging open now.  "How--what--" 

 

Solas merely smiled and stirred three heaping spoonfuls of sugar into his coffee.

After 4 e-mails and a print screen of the assignment requirements he has fixed it. Stubborn man. He just didn't like being told he'd made a mistake. Just because you have a title of Dr. to attach to your name doesn't mean you are incapable of making a mistake!

I don't feel bad for Erimond.  He was a worthless asshat who felt no remorse, so why should I?  But as a player, I do worry about the precedent that Tranquility sets; what does it mean for the mages going forward if you ended the war, then turned right around and imposed the Rite of Tranquility?  IMO the mages have every reason to be upset and frightened by quizzy's actions.

 

Alas, as a character Adaar had no such compunctions.  He just wanted Erimond to pay in the most horrible way he could think of 

 

 

Well, clearly, I wasn't playing a mage my first time, so that wasn't an option, but there's a reason Erimond was the only one I executed.

I didn't write fiction for about five years. Now I am working on three related stories at the same time. It comes back to you, and you can also look at resources to help you improve a bit too. The important thing is to let go and try.

I just had a pretty disturbing dream.  It's slipping away now, but I was at some sort of con, and there was fanfiction and cosplay and I was out investigating some things but all of this was Dragon Age related. At one point, there were bears in some wooded area that turned out to be not too far from a highway/parking lot.

 

Weird, disturbing details behind -

Long story short, there was some woman who won a fic prize or something, and she was cosplaying. And some of us noticed something weird. She was telling some of us the story about how she cheated on her boyfriend with someone else and tried to return and all of this was the reason for her cosplay and her fic, and near the end, she was crying about how she regrets the entire thing but he wouldn't take her back. So this other person in cosplay that had been giving me and maybe another person or two bad vibes turned out to be the ex boyfriend, who had been sort of following/stalking her and he turned out to be the weird stuff I had been investigating. He was in a bear costume. And he tried to attack his ex and choke her but some of us pulled him back, then he was attacking me but my alarm interrupted (thankfully).

 

Now I feel completely non rested and going 'brain, why?'. How dare you mix such fun things with such terrible things.

Lavellan sat on the bench outside the subway station, nose-deep in the latest installment of Swords and Shields.  It was crap, but it was such glorious, smutty crap.  And the descriptions!  Who in the world had "amber eyes that shone like the setting sun?"  Having spent a summer there, those were the last words she'd ever use to describe a Kirkwall cop.

 

A shadow fell over the pages, and she looked up to see the strange guy from last week--Solas--sporting a slightly pained expression. "Please tell me you're reading it ironically," he said.

 

Lavellan rolled her eyes at him.  "You hipsters.  Can't enjoy a piece of trash for what it is."  She stuck the book back in her purse and added, "At least this series is better than his vampire romance."

 

Solas winced.  "I know the guy who wrote those.  He tried to get me to read the first draft."

 

"You--what?"  

 

"He was my RA back in undergrad."  Solas shrugged.  "Now he writes terrible novels for a living, while I eke out a student stipend advancing the world's knowledge."

 

Lavellan looked him up and down.  Thick turtleneck, pens sticking out of his pockets, cheeks and pointed ears turning pink from the cold.  "Somehow, I don't think 'terrible smut novelist' was in the cards for you," she said slowly.  

 

Solas snorted quietly.  "Then I am grateful for that.  Shall we?"  He gestured toward the park, where they could hear music coming from the pavilion in the middle.  Lavellan swiped a playbill from the usher at the park gates and quickly scanned its contents.

 

"Bloody Tragedy Weekend: Macbeth and Titus Andronicus," she read.  "You like your dates fun and upbeat, I see."

 

Even in the orange glow of the streetlight, she could see him turning pinker.  "I...I didn't know--"

 

"Easy."  She smiled at him as they sat down on the wooden benches, wondering when he'd last gone out for anything fun.  If the papers he kept bringing to the coffee shop were any indication, it'd been months for the poor guy.  She could pick out the harried grad students just by looking at them nowadays.  

 

"I'm just teasing.  Macbeth's my favorite tragedy."

 

Solas seized on the change of topic.  "Interesting.  Most people seem to prefer Hamlet."

 

"Hamlet is a whiny ponce who couldn't figure out which end of a sword goes where.  At least Macbeth grew a pair."

 

Now he began to laugh, and it wasn't the dry hipster chuckle she'd expected.  His laughter was warm, happy, and it lit up his whole face.  "I'll have to tell my other housemate that," he said.  "I love watching the vein pulse in her temple."

 

The stage lights came on, and she saw Solas's eyes flick to the place where her nametag would be.  "I'm sorry," he whispered.  "I never got your name."

 

Lavellan shook her head, turning her face to hide her smile.  "Later," she whispered as the lights flashed, and three witches dragged a smoking cauldron on stage.
