All of that stealing likes and preparing virgins takes a lot of energy, huh? It is 'early' for you, but sleep is good.

Taking a break from character creation to bring you more of grad student!Solas and barista!Lavellan's Shakespeare date  Doing my part for post count!

It was the goriest production of Macbeth Solas had ever seen--perhaps not the best, but by intermission, the stage was awash in fake blood from the butchered form of Banquo's ghost.  He glanced around from time to time at the families here with their children, but none of them had left.  Presumably, one who was old enough to enjoy Shakespeare was old enough to tolerate some fake blood.

 

Banquo's ghost got up from the ground, shrugged off his bloody sheet to nervous laughter from the audience, and limped to the middle of the stage.  "Folks, intermission will be fifteen minutes!" he called.  "If you like what you've seen so far, you can support us by purchasing refreshments at our concession stand!  We bake some tasty cupcakes!"

 

Solas's stomach rumbled as he realized he'd forgotten all about dinner.  He turned to his companion, who was looking through her playbill.

 

"Would you like anything?" he asked.

 

Her teasing smile was back.  "No, thanks.  Sweet tooth got you?" 

 

Solas blinked at her.  "I'm sorry?"

 

"The first time you came into the coffee shop.  I've never seen anyone tear into a brownie like that," she said.  "You'd think the school starves you--our pastries aren't even that good."

 

She noticed me.

 

The thought crashed through his brain, and it took him a second to realize he was sitting there with his mouth open.  "You would think they starve us," he said quickly, "if you heard my housemates complaining all the time."  He glanced at the concessions up by the stage; a line was already forming for cupcakes.  "One moment."

 

He wound his way through the mix of seated and standing audience until he reached the cupcake line.  He felt around for his phone; one text from Dorian glared up at him from the screen.

 

Are thy mistress's eyes anything like the sun?

 

A feeble attempt, but Dorian was supposed to be studying for written quals.  He'd let it go this time.

 

Go to: you are a saucy boy! he typed back.

 

He was still smiling to himself when he reached the front of the line.  They had chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and he was grateful for the chatter that concealed his grumbling stomach.  He'd have to take Vivienne's advice and set an alarm for meals, though never in her earshot.

 

Despite his best efforts at dignity, he was already halfway through the cupcake when he got back to his seat.  The barista smiled at him, but thankfully didn't comment.

 

"So," said Solas after swallowing a mouthful of chocolate with some difficulty.  "You have me at a disadvantage."

 

"What?"

 

"You know my name.  You know I like Shakespeare and sweets.  I, on the other hand, barely know anything about you."

 

She made a thoughtful sound and tilted her head as though sizing him up.  "Don't you like a little mystery?"

 

Yes, said his brain.  No, said good sense.

 

"I'm not sure," he said, playing with the cupcake wrapper to give himself some time.  "I cannot say I've ever been in such a situation."

 

"And here I thought you were the weird spontaneous guy who liked asking out random baristas."

 

They laughed together, soft and furtive.  

 

"I can be spontaneous on occasion," he said, testing the waters.  "But random?  Never."

 

He had her.  Now it was her turn to blink at him, startled, her turn to try and say something clever.  But the audience had resumed their seats, and Solas pressed a finger to his lips before turning his attention back to the stage.  Banquo's ghost was gone, leaving a white-faced and trembling Macbeth behind.

 

(Inspired by RL.  My boyfriend and I went to a free production of Macbeth in Griffith Park, and it was gory as all hell  )

So Im having a thought and thought Id bring it to the people who know a lot more than me. But what if Mythal was more of a dragon (I know this theory is old) than Elf/God, she is different than the other Evanuris, to me it seems in more ways than just being kind. Is it Andruil that was messing with the blight? Maybe they tried to control Mythal by infecting her? Thats why the other old gods are locked away? They are dragons too. Maybe Solas put them to sleep? To keep them from being controlled by the song and preserve them. And we know he hates the Grey Wardens for killing them but this would make it all the more personal. Because in the Evanuris' thirst for power they would destroy the world. Step one:control the song and blighted old gods.

And Cory being able to control a dragon with his stolen elfy power????????

Solas loses it at some point but it does not seem likely that he would do all this just because they killed Mythal. But maybe its the way they killed her that sickened him so much. By trying to control her? Corrupting her. We know how he feels on slavery. Everything they stood against.

And maybe Solas was the one who had to put Mythal down? I saw somewhere floating around on tumblr (I cant remember where, I didnt think much of it at the time) that someone datamined Trespasser and apparently there is  a room which solas wants to forget/does not want people to see, and this is his breaking point.? I have no idea what that means, but being forced to kill someone you love and respect after they are turned into something you and she fought so hard against would break anyone. "So long as the music plays, we dance" <<<<<<Hmmmmm

Maybe Mythal brought Solas to her to do the job of killing her. Maybe the Mythal inside her blighted form is what called out to Solas to have a body so he could "protect" her by killing her? Cant remember the Cole banter from Trespasser at the moment but she did call Solas to her right? Solas wants to serve Mythal but the line Cole says in base game, its not abuse if you ask for it, and Solas says, not always true?

Sorry Ive completely forgot whos Tumblr it was, it was someone who was looking for all Solas' Trespasser dialogue and what he says to a Low approval inquisitor if they are nice to him? It was in the dev notes buried in the game on what direction  they wanted Solas to sound or something. Ill try to dig it up for you but it was in the deepest parts of my tumblr stalking lol. They hadnt finished trying to dig up more so would be interesting to keep an eye on. Im just worried it might be to much info and someone clever could spoil DA4's plot.  Im not actually convinced this "room" exists in Trespasser it was just a prompt for writers or whatever??

Everything from those evil devs' brains is vital in understanding Solas as a character, and I eat that sh*t up like candy.
