As much as I love this outfit I can't help myself from wondering how does one wear put it on.

It's so tight (-sighhh-), yet metallic, and those boots - those form fitting, metal boots, I can only imagine how my toes would feel in these.

Growing up I remember changing shoe sizes a lot, and that feeling of tight shoes... Uncomfortable at first, turns painful after walking for some time.

I imagine the armor plates are mostly made of ironbark, so it's strong, lightweight, flexible and probably slightly magical armor.

Remember that the murals, the self-portraits of Fen'Harel, show him in a humble robe and modest clothing. If that's how he sees himself, that is significant.

 

The self-portrait always makes me so sad. People have said it shows how full of pride Solas used to be, but what I see is the giant wolf overshadowing the simple mage, and it hurts.

 

Yeah, I'm in the same boat.  I just love all flavors of Solas.  Sexy hobo sweater Solas, scary god-mode Solas, dorky student  AU Solas, dom!Solas, sweet Solas, Solas throwing shade...

 

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't turn down any of those Solases. More Solas in any flavor is better. 

 

This reminded me of my entomology module I've taken years ago and the video on mating behaviour of Ceutorhynchus quadridens (small beetle). A homemade masterpiece made by the module leaders and performed by two oblivious yet enthusiastic exchange students. Two guys running around the bushes with large scale models of the beetle... results were amusing, to say the least. This and many many others of their antics made me realise that people who work with insects, insta from me...

...and it's definitely not something I thought I'd share on Solas' thread...

I never thought I'd be talking about my flies on the thread. I mean, it was inevitable that I would mention something, because flies are like the Fade for me, but I'm so deeply touched that people appreciate how awesome flies are.

Those black things on the outer parts of the thigh plates, and on the shins are hinges, and there are what look like ties made of some kind of cord on the inside of the thigh.

 

If it's like most armor, there's a thin padded cloth suit under everything, then the chainmail goes over that, and then there are different points where each plate can be fixed over the chainmail with some sort of ties or hooks if needed. I'm still trying to figure out how the feet work, those do look uncomfortable, but they must have something going for them besides looking creepy.

They start building a wheelchair ramp to the dorms in ep 4. Maybe it was something else, but I remember Max thinking "I'm glad we didn't steal that money."

 

I was too much of a chicken to leap out of the closet, didn't take a shot at Frank and stood up for David that one time. Chloe gives him too much shit imo.

While I don't agree with many of her ideas, I still like her.

 

Episode 5 is so close...  *vibrates with excitement*

 

My Max will do anything to protect Chole.  I get a real Homoura/Madoka vibe from the way I play her, sometimes.

And in episode 4 they do indeed start building a wheelchair ramp to the dorms.

 

I think "my" Chloe "hates" me, the only thing I did for her is jump out of the closet and take the blame... Didn't let her take the money, prioritized Kate and generally didn't take her s***, I'm also in the minority that stood up for David (ep 3), went back once to see how it goes when I stand up for Chloe and went back very quick to stand up for David  . She really doesn't like that.

 

 

I actually like David.

I find him to actually be pretty sympathic. It's clear he has PTSD and he really does care for the safety of the Blackwell students. But he's also hit Chole in the past, and will hit her in the presant if a certain set of choices are made at one point. I like that nearly every character we've been given is so much more complex than they first seem.

But I'll still have Max prioritse Chole over everyone bar Kate (precious cinnamon roll).  Chole apologising for the way she acted in episode 4 while they visisted Kate in hospital was very sweet.

I romanced Solas, and post-Trespasser I've spent a lot of time in the character's head - the character as as I understand him., anyway. I know he's afraid how Lavellan is going to react to his secret - who wouldn't be? That theme is woven throughout the whole romance. And he's carrying around the weight of the world, having been unable to share it until now. But in that scene she's  - if not actually dying from the mark, then at least in a substantial amount of pain. His friend, and someone he loves. She needs to give him some reassurance before he shows actual concern? That's just not the Solas I knew, or thought I knew. I wouldn't expect that behaviour from any of my companions ... well, maybe Vivienne (I still think she was deliberately needling me about Solas during our 'spa day'... )

 

He knows you've been in a lot of pain from the mark and that it's in the process of killing you. He also knows just how powerful he is right now. I took it as he's confident that he can stop it, so he doesn't just run over. He walks over confidently and does stop it, and you feel better. I don't think it's about her reassurance at all, but about his shield not ready to drop yet. When he says "I suspect you have questions", his face softens, his head tilts, he knows he'll have to answer, finally, and it's likely as much a burden as an unburdening to someone he loves/respects. But that moment is where the 'cool' drops.
