I would use PhotoShop but it costs the moneys. My Sai trial has about a week left, I'm thinking of trying Krita before I buy sai.
I'm sorta.. half way through drawing a Venatori Spellbinder which I hope to finish tomorrow. He looks a bit Elven and it reminded me of Solas.. boohoo
! I'm up to shading and lighting it which is my favourite part
.
I don't like it either. It's...
It's all these mods that a cropping up making him into a generic bad boy. He's not that kind of wolf. He's just Solas. He was never Fen'Harel. He made himself Fen'Harel so he could do the things he had to do, but that was never him.
This, exactly, it's why it's sad. This is "posturing is necessary" Solas (and I will quote that over and over because it is). The way he depicts himself in those murals, in robes, and how resigned to this role he thinks he needs to be playing is....yep, the sad.
And Cole just reinforces it all.

His armor is definitely symbolic as much as it is real. He clothes himself in the armor of the ancient and cuts himself from the present at the same time. He armors himself against the Inquisitor and against his own doubt.
And it would just as symbolic if, at the end, for those who chooses to save him, we got to help him take his armor off and leave it behind.
I... kinda want to see fanart of this now...

Yes to this. Another Cole quote: "He wants to give wisdom, not orders."
Maybe a kitten can help.
If we can help with anything, please share what you're struggling with.
Sadly, I am allergic to cats. But I do like pictures of them so there's that.
As far as writing -
Did you by any chance taste a hint of feet, mud and broken dreams in the soup?

Thankfully, no.
Today, I am drinking all of the tea. All of it.

Solas greatly dissapproves - Solas: '' I detest the stuff... <.< ''
There is always time for science.
Says one who is sifting through youtube for zevran and solas videos.

anyone doing nano this year? anyone thinking of doing some da fic for nano ?
I was considering dragging out an old, yet, fully-formed original novel idea and use it to get through a draft this year.
Oh, and how did everything go yesterday? (It was yesterday, right? )
Spoiler
I say don't worry about what it's supposed to be.
I wonder if I'm in the minority, but I don't care if things start silly and then deepen and become more serious. It doesn't seem unnatural to me, even when I'm reading other people's stuff. For example, when I was reading MayriyaNoori's fic and stuff got darker and more serious at one point, I actually enjoyed it, it felt surprising and refreshing.
Being repetitive - if you're finding that you're writing the same thing over and over, I say write it out the way you first thought of it first. Then once you have that down, look it over and think of a few things to change. A different setting? The role each character is playing in a scene? For example when Sable ended her fluff piece (I say ended FOR NOW, we demand more of it!) and Solas did something we're very used to seeing Lavellan do. I thought it was clever and fun. So this way repetition turns into variations on a theme, and IMO it's never as repetitive to the reader as it is for you. You've gone over it 1000 times in your head, they've read it only once.
(Cut for smut talk)
Spoiler[/spoiler]

I was thinking of maybe:
1. Working on my rivalmance.
2. Working on a post-Tresspasser fic that is set ~200 years in a future where my Lavellan did join Solas to help out with his plan.
How about you, hahren?
He knows you've been in a lot of pain from the mark and that it's in the process of killing you. He also knows just how powerful he is right now. I took it as he's confident that he can stop it, so he doesn't just run over. He walks over confidently and does stop it, and you feel better. I don't think it's about her reassurance at all, but about his shield not ready to drop yet. When he says "I suspect you have questions", his face softens, his head tilts, he knows he'll have to answer, finally, and it's likely as much a burden as an unburdening to someone he loves/respects. But that moment is where the 'cool' drops.
You know, I don't really disagree with anything you're saying about his state of mind. But it requires some mental pretzling for me to interpret his walk the way you did. He's her friend, not her doctor. Being self-protective doesn't preclude being a little kinder to someone who's in a lot of pain. I mean look - how many of our Lavellans would have treated him that way, if the situation were reversed?

Oooooooo, I like the sound of number 2.

Thanks so much!
I've been very hesitant and insecure about it, so I really appreciate the encouragement.

I would love to read something like that, especially since I have a Lavellan who could in no way go with his plan. I think it would be great!
anyone doing nano this year? anyone thinking of doing some da fic for nano ?
Probably doing it, but not Dragon Age related.
Top Solas!
I love the thought of Solar being housemates with Dorian and Vivienne
Is it bad I want to see the scenes from their day to day interactions so bad now (almost as bad as continuation to the Solavellan dating shenanigans)?

STILL NEED MORE. I CAN WRITE MORE DOM!ALISTAIR IN RETURN.
Oh Maker
You guys, I can't even ![]()
I definitely like the writing exercise. I've basically just been typing up the fluff in the forum reply box and hitting submit with minimal editing. It's like the kinkmeme, but neither kinky nor anonymous
Of course, now reading it over, I realize I have Kirkwall and Shakespeare and elves in the same modern AU. Is it our world? Is it modern Thedas? Some bizarre pastiche of the two? I DON'T KNOW I DIDN'T THINK THIS THROUGH WHAAAAAAT
I can clean up what I have so far and post it to the AO3 collection, if anyone's interested. That way y'all don't have to dig through forum posts, and I can open it up to collaboration if anyone else wants to get in on this goofy AU.
(ok, Sable. Next time, less navel-gazing and more fluff)
How about Solas in jeans and a tee:Spoilerhttp://salesart.tumblr.com/ Gosh, I love this artist.

I'm sorry, I am going to be dumb - what is this?
@DustyTulip:
It's a challenge in which people write a lot of words. A lot of words, like 50k.
I can't, my perfectionism would make me implode. It took me six months with my 17K story.
Thanks so much!

Yep, you should, especially since you've been working on it for a while in one way or another. But, both. ![]()
I got a short paragraph written last night before I slept. Go, me. I may actually scrap a lot of it today though.
At some point, my writing will not feel like treading mud again, right? ![]()

http://nanowrimo.org/Happens every November. I've never completed one, so it would be nice to.

@.@
Actually, I was just looking at the website and can you make groups and stuff on there? It looks like it could be fun to have a Blanket Fort group for kicks and we all poke each other to write some craziness.
But 50k sounds like a lot. Like, you need one hell of an idea to type that much about it I would think.

Right. I'm hoping for that too.

Dunno, major self-esteem drop this week, everything I write is so boring when I come back to it. How do I become interesting?
