I want to ask a question from you all... I am so curious.. I want to know about your Lavellans. First (I know some asked these but I have more) for those who have time to write them up. I would love to read them: Age, Class and specialization (why those ones, was there a reason), Personality, what do you think they mostly adored about Solas like what were the facinating things for YOUR lavellan about him. Also I would like to know their relationship with clan lavellan, if they lived or died and how they reacted to that. How is their backround? And lastly.. if you could choose your own thing to say to Solas in trespasser what would they say? I will post mine later if someone is interested :3
Tala Lavellan
Age at beginning of Inquisition: 32
Class: Mage (because I thought this would give her more in common with Solas)
Specialization: Knight-Enchanter because I usually play as a rogue and like close combat
Personality: Inquisitive (tee-hee!), clever, a little vain (especially when she used to have long, glossy black hair), generous, a tendency to speak before she thinks. She reads voraciously (she invests her perks in knowledge first). Regrets keep her up at night, even though she knows, had she made other choices, she probably would have regretted those, too. She alternates between being incredibly self-aware and being in a state of denial. Once she loves something, she loves it with all her heart. And she loves to dance and sing. She values loyalty almost above everything. Initially mistrustful of humans, Dorian is now her best friend. She didn't disdain alienage elves, she still considered them her people, if somewhat misguided. She advocated for any that came to join their clan. Flat-ear was just the term everyone she knew used for them. She stopped calling them flat-ears after meeting Solas. She has a blind spot when it comes to Solas. She only figured out he was Fen'Harel after seeing the mural of him removing the vallaslin. In Trespasser, after speaking with the Viddasala, she thought he left because he had been fighting the Qunari all that time. She would die before killing Solas.
What Tala adored most about Solas: That he never sought acknowledgement for the good he did: the quiet way he went off to help the refugees while Tala and the others spoke with Mother Giselle, the kind way with which he comforted the other members of the Inquisition:
- Cole: It's brighter here. Glittering. Glaring. Glinting. I can't...
- Solas: It's a mild tremor in the Veil. Nothing to worry about. Focus on what is here, in this world.
- Cole: But... what is here?
- Solas: Feel the ground, the breath in your lungs, fabric rustling against your skin.
- Cole: (Breathes.) Thank you.
- Solas: It's nothing. It can be overwhelming for anyone.
- Solas: You are not Tal-Vashoth, Iron Bull, not really.
- Iron Bull: Well that's a fuckin' relief.
- Solas: You are no beast, snapping under the stress of the Qun's harsh discipline. You are a man who made a choice... possibly the first of your life.
- Iron Bull: I've always liked fighting. What if I turn savage, like the other Tal-Vashoth?
- Solas: You have the Inquisition, you have the Inquisitor... and you have me.
- Iron Bull: Thanks, Solas.
- Solas: How are you feeling, Cassandra, after the revelations about your Seekers?
- Cassandra: How do you expect I might feel? Most of my life was dedicated to the Order. I did so much I believed was good in their name.
- Solas: Now that you know them corrupt, you must determine which parts of yourself to discard and which to keep.
- Cassandra: I assume you have advice?
- Solas: I would hardly presume. In our travels, I have been impressed by your honesty and your faith. It is a difficult path, Seeker, but if anyone can walk it honorably, you can.
His guidance prepared her to navigate Halamshiral. Through his influence, she became more politic and insightful. He even helped her master the unfamiliar steps of human dance, which he supposedly learned in the Fade.
What fascinated her about Solas: His wisdom and knowledge of elves and magic- he knew so much more than Keeper Deshanna (who I imagine as being only about 7 years older than Tala). How his own calm demeanour often contrasted with her own. Part of her wanted to see if she could ruffle his feathers. She, however, thought his attempts at flirting awkward and tried not to shudder when he mentioned her indomitable focus being dominated, chalking it up to his being on his own for so long. She knew he loved her, which is why she demanded in Crestwood, "Tell me you don't care."
Clan Lavellan: OK, I cheated. After not taking the time to carefully read the agent's italicized letter, I followed Cullen's advice on my first playthrough and her entire clan was massacred. So, I went back and made sure they survived. However, she hasn't seen them since she had her vallaslin removed. She has sent letters, because she misses and loves them, but they would not understand. She also didn't want to explain that she had an opportunity to drink from the Well of Sorrows, but gave it up to a shem. Now that she knows Solas is Fen'Harel, she has warned them of his plans, but she still doesn't trust herself to meet them in person, because then everything would spill out. She is grateful that Varric has pulled some strings to give them some political clout. She worries that because her clan was under siege in Wycome at the same time as the Halamshiral ball, her choice to allow Celene to die and position Briala to rule through Gaspard was emotionally driven. Now that the elves have left in droves, she wonders where Briala stands, and what this means for her efforts to stop Solas from destroying the world.
What She Would Say to Solas in Trespasser: Who betrayed you? Who hurt you so much that you could not bring yourself to trust me?
