There's a reason why it's much easier to condition fear of heights, spiders, and snakes than, say fear of lawnchairs.  Evolution worked that one out for us quite a while ago, and I'm ok with trusting evolution on this one.

I want fear of mirrors explained then.

I mean, I don't have a serious fear of them, but I can't sleep in a room with a mirror for example. And I have to look away from the mirror while brushing my teeth and whatnot. They're just weird. The whole reflection thing bothers me.

Eluvians wouldn't though I guess because they just look like a fuzzy picture.

Movies have certainly not done a good job in discouraging a fear of mirrors.

I would like eluvians in real life though. I know too many people who I'd like to spend time with who live way too far away. :P

I used to be afraid of mirrors until we rented an apartment with a bedroom closet which had mirrored doors. Then I had to get used to them.

I'd be much more scared of eluvians though. Who knows what could come out at night? Well, for Lavellan only sexy things probably, but if it were me?

Have you guys seen Oculus?

I love that movie.

I have a closet with mirrored doors. It has been kind of helpful in avoiding the weirdness. I've only had one period of time where I was kind of afraid of mirrors and that was when I lived in a tiny Madrid studio that was part of the attic of an old house, with an old mirror on the wall.

That sounds like the perfect horror story setup to me :D No really, you can just write up your experience, add a hunky ghost, and you have a story.

New AU idea: Solas is a ghost coming out of a mirror in the modern world.

Bonus if you write it up as horror fluff.

See, nope, doors would come down.

In the room I do my crafting in there is a mirror attached to the wall. Apparently it is a serious part to the structural integrity of the wall or something and there's no way to take it down.

My yarn shelf covers it.

I totally need even more ideas to attempt to write at the moment. :P

I haven't seen Oculus yet. Maybe for one of my horror moods. I'm more inclined toward ghost stories than slasher. Gothic or period ghost stories are a plus.

Well, most horror movie characters are not really known for their intelligence. :D The people in that movied did relatively well.

Yes, and they at least had mind manipulation as an excuse. Unlike in Walking Dead...

Speaking of this sort of thing

Due to conversation over on AO3 with Drosophila I have decided to be dangerous and make my Zevellan nonsense basically a series of cheesy prompts with a plot going on. Sorta.

So, I'm open to suggestions on prompts.

And trust me, I am fully aware of how dangerous this is to bring this over here.

Maybe let's stick to fluffy and romantic suggestions and nothing too descriptive? :)

-- trying really hard to think of prompt that does not involve Solas tropes --

Yeah let's just......

......fluffy and romantic are good if possible.

I know what this thread is capable of. Let's not go full capable.

That's still quite far. I don't think I could do it, even if I was landing in water. I'm not a fan of free repelling either, had to do that out of the Gym roof in high-school. It was three stories and we had to climb the top set of bleachers, crawl out far enough not to hit the rows of bleachers and then drop straight down.

Thankfully I didn't have to climb a rope for the same class, I've never gotten the hang of climbing a rope

Out of likes..

Was going to say that!

I've noticed DA has sort of veered off from their previous horror elements, though the envy demon part was nice.

I have only two:

- wine tasting

- shopping for gloves

that's all I could come up with :|

Oh Solas, what did you do to us?

Really, if we just stick to strictly in-game Solas, he basically holds your hand and removes all fluff from you with a fist pump. Only more gradually, over the course of the story.

I got the short end of evolution though since I sometimes can't even stand up without feeling terrible. Forget adventurous things like skydiving. But I manage. And I'm totally okay without ziplining or skydiving or going on rollercoasters. But it would be really, really nice if I could get rid of the spider and insect phobia. I do live alone, so being able to handle them would be nice. I'm also smart enough to not go poking at spiders otherwise without actual crushing panic being the result. Last night, I was researching maple syrup for a fic and came upon some other type of sap along with zoomed in photos of bugs. Nope. Nope. Nope. Panic scramble to close the tab. :P

tl;dr - brains are weird
