I actually haven't, so yay, new things to read.

 

It is such a contrast, but fun playing like that. My first time through, I ran out of ammo in the final boss fight, so had to use the katana.

 

I went mostly melee for my first playthrough so my second playthrough had the unlimited sub machine gun reward (plus my shiny new pipes.  Thanks, Sewer Fairy).  Made the final boss fight (and, well, everything) so easy.  I haven't unlocked the beam sword yet, and I don't think I've unlocked the SEXY BEAM (but I've seen footage of it in action).  I do have the Princess Heart outfit, though.

I had Princess Heart, which was just so goofy, but wonderful.  I actually used katana a lot my first time, switching between that and the guns because katana was just so fun. It has been forever since I played since we had the disc and one of my exes kept the game. I should replay sometime.

 

And it really is a serious game. I want more experiences like my first time through that game.

Also, I had this briefly flashing idea in my head while working out. Would some of our artists take a prompt, so to say? I'd love to see 1-2 pictures per chapter for my thing. Sadly, my drawing skills are those of a third grader, mostly. And some people here draw and paint rather astonishing work. 

You don't need to like the fic; just take the chapter names (or chapter contents, better) as a prompt for a picture.

Of course, it's just my shabby idea, and I don't expect it to take a root here... but at least I won't cry about not mentioning it, right? Better to take the leap of faith.

He was so offended by this, too.  It was the first thread I ever read on the BSN.  It went on for several pages of him complaining and people pointing out that it was clearly a romance trigger.  Unfortunately he also started getting super homophobic so the thread go deleted.

 

Up until then, though, it was hilarious.  I honestly wasn't sure whether OP was trolling or not for the start.  I remember David Gaider chipped in on that and was like, "What the actual triple f***?"  Not in those exact words, of course, but he was as perplexed as we were.  How can someone be so oblivious?

 

I'm part of the thread legacy?  Yay!

 

And Sable's AU should be in that legacy.  It should be a legacy of its own.

 

A lot of us chipped in to come up with it, especially Shallow waters.  I'm just the one writing doofy dialogue for it  Which reminds me, if anyone else wants to write about grad!Solas, go for it!

That's what I took away too. Life works in some odd ways, and connections sometimes fade or aren't kept, but there are always ways, memories, experiences. I've always thought about those types of stories that inspired these too. Now if we can only show Solas this side of the story.

See, I wouldn't really characterise her as aggressive there, and Solas isn't uncomfortable so much as hesitant. At several points throughout the romance, they do this little dance: Solas puts something ambiguous out there which makes you go "Did he just..?". Lavellan then generally asks for clarification. And then he makes it much clearer that yes, he did mean that. Even with the first kiss - her kiss is a simple kiss, and he's like, 'Wait, you didn't do that right, let me show you'

 

Several more examples I remember:

 

S: (mentions her grace)

L: So you're suggesting I'm graceful.

S: I am declaring it. It was not a subject for debate.

 

S: ... I felt the whole world change.

L: Felt the whole world change?

S: Figure of speech.

L: I know what it means. I'm more interested in 'felt'.

S: You change everything.

 

(Balcony)

S: (talks about morals and spirit)

L: What does this mean, Solas?

S: It means I have not forgotten the kiss.

 

Solas is not the shy rabbit running from Big Bad Lavellan. Dude puts feelers out there, but yes, he does generally wait for her to confirm her own interest before he'll do the same.

 

As for that line from Trespasser, my understanding is that you're meant to interpret it in either of those ways. They left it up to you.

That was my take on Solas as well. He's the one initiating the flirtations it's up to Lavellan to decide if she wants to accept them or not. With the other romances it's totally the PC that initiates the flirting which is where I think confuses everyone. Solas is subtle, ambiguous, when the PC goes wait what? he clarifies. I totally agree on the kiss! No this is a kiss, and then he remembers where they are. It's after that he back pedals and thinks about the complications.

Oh wait, the "straight male gamer" trolls  Though I suppose they weren't really trolls, just privileged dudes having to experience the variety of humanity for the first time in their lives.  When you've lived your life in a bubble, even bunnies can be scary!

Sadly nothing... But I have worked the last 3 years so I have saved some money, and I have already payed of my previous loan so I'm good on that front. I'm mostly just feeling "left out" because everyone else I know work and have the money to do fun things. That's why it's so great to have this thread! I'm often bored out of my mind, but then I come here, see all the awesome art/screen shots of Solas and the occasionally hilariously ridiculous discussions, and I feel a bit better. 

 

What are you studying if you don't mind my asking? Perhaps we could start a Swedish division of the Solas fan club.

Oh, that's good I have managed to save a bit of money, but unfortunately the studies are full-time, every day of the week, 8-16 (sometimes evenings and weekends because of clinic duty) so I haven't had the time or energy to work part-time.

I am currently studying at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), sixth year of vet school
