hehee...I met my ex-husband online in a role playing chat room and my ex-fiance online in a role playing forum.   I need to start role playing again..third time's a charm, right? :-P

OK, that settles it, if I ever have to date again, first thing I'll try is RP :)

Also I just agreed to collaborate with him on the fic. Can't let him ruin all the Solas bits

You guys are so adorable with your husbands and how cool they are about your nerdiness!

Minus the internet I don't have anyone to talk to about my love of nerdy crap like rpgs, comics, anime, and my fantasy books! My brothers play completely different genres of video games, my little sister is too young to watch and read the stuff I do, and my friends just aren't interested in that kind of stuff... -.- . I have my group of friends that are spending their youth as stereotypically as possible (partying and being reckless and self-indulgent) and my smaller group of innocent little bible thumpers. How I have managed to wedge myself in between two completely contrasting friend groups I do not know, but it is frustrating. They're all good people, but our conversations always seem so shallow. Like there's a whole side of me they don't know! I suppose that's what being online is all about though. I can reach out to fellow nerds and finally be able to talk about my nerdy inclinations.

My science friends are mostly into drinking and complaining about grad school. Some share my love for anime and I think some folks near the edges of my social circle are into tabletop rpg, but that's about it.

Just talked to my mom, and she said that after she has this procedure, she won't need nurse visits to look after it, and thus she should be cleared for physical therapy again. Which is great, since while my mom has a good outlook in general, she has been mostly stuck at home (especially since we have been waiting since Feb/March for the state to get her a motorized wheelchair) and she has had to wait for two different sets of pressure sores to heal. So she's very happy at this news.

And my friend is sending pictures of her baby.

Solas-an changed the "about" on the blog. I guess it's another goodbye.

Взбрык.В этом блоге только 3 "вечных" поста. Остальные будут удаляться через день.

Google translate: Vzbryk.V this blog only 3 "eternal" post. The rest will be removed in a day.

Those three posts remain. I do hope she comes back in some way. I wonder exactly what kind of stuff gets thrown at a Solas image account.

The MMO thing was 'strange' to some people years back but now,  pretty much everyone knows someone who met similarly. Technically, we met on the game forum.

Yeah my fiance and I always had errr interesting reactions when answering how we met.  He has a friend, that I also played WoW with, that for some reason didn't think it was 'real' (I guess that's the best way to describe it) so he was shocked when we got engaged last year.  I try not to be too bothered by it.  Which makes it kinda weird for me because we've all hung out a lot over the years.  Heck I was at his wedding.  And we all went to our first Blizzcon together.  People are odd.

I know the exact feeling. I live in a small town in New Zealand, and the twelve or so other people here are just not into gaming, or nerdy things in general. I have no idea why. Almost everyone thought I was crazy when I attempted a career in archaeology, because who cares about history? The others are the friendliest Christians you could ever hope to met, but apparently don't have any time for fiction. It's a lonely way to live for someone who spends their spare time writing fanfiction, but hey, at least there's the internet!

About Best Elf:

I remember the whole TME drama about SOLAS KILLED BEST ELF/ NUH UH HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT

I was a firm believer that Solas didn't kill Felassan. Now that it's basically been proven that is was him, it puts into perspective how naively optimistic I was about Solas, just because of how I prefer to view him as fade nerd!Solas rather than Fen'Harel.

I'm never going to get over Solas having killed Fellassan, especially because it insinuates he has a cold enough heart to be able to kill those closest to him, and therefore a romanced Lavellan or a quissy who's his good friend.

I just ... it makes me sad every time

It shows his darkest side, and just thinking about it is so depressing  :(

... Well at least you have family members who play games - in my case, aside from my young cousin who visits us from US every summer (and he's mostly into shooters and stuff, not lame big RPGs, platformers or adventure games), nobody plays games or even does much Internet-y stuff (or artsy. Or comick-y. And very limited in case of fantasy-ish, as in - reading a couple of books)... So I get weird looks all the time. Or people just barge in into my room, talking and distracting me, and look seriously baffled or annoyed when I say "hey, I told you I'm playing some MMO with a few friends, I can't drop everything and tend to your stuff in the middle of the raid/session/whatever'.

Obviously for them, people on the other side of the screen are gremlins :P

:) She has been wanting to return to physical therapy for some time, so I'm happy she'll get to. She does okay, and has improved over the year she has been home, but we'll see if there's potential for further improvement. My mom is stubborn.

As for the gif, that freckled nose is just too adorable.

Ugh yes, this so much growing up. My parents were NOT impressed with me playing WoW. I imagine it would be even worse if you're playing a story based game and you can't pause (cinematics in Inquisition) and people around you are like "talk to me NOW!".

Yeah, its hard to find people with like interests in the smaller towns. I'm in Rotorua, so unless you want to talk about tourism or sulphur poisoning you're wasting your time.

The random middle earth scenery is pretty cool though. Glass half full.

Messenger pigeons. I'd write obscure Inquisition quotes and references and send them flying in all directions with a return address and wait to see if anybody replied. :D

I have an annoying situation. My boyfriend and I play the same genre games but entirely different styles of games for the genre. So the rpg's I absolutely love.. he can't stand, and vice-versa. I'm into action / action-adventure rpg's with some sort of story line like DA Series, Red Dead Redemption etc. He likes japanese style ones, like Final Fantasy, Tales of Vesperia etc and mmorpg's. I do like the genre being so varied sometimes, but other times it can get annoying hehe. At least we can agree on Diablo? :P

I've played video games my entire life.  My sister myself, and our cousins would stay up for hours playing Mario Kart on Super Nintendo.  Playing Donkey Kong Country for a week straight helped my sister and I cope with our Mom having to leave during Christmas to be with our Nanny when she was dying from cancer.  It's so weird now as an adult to be the only one that still really games.  My sister lost interest right around the time she became old enough for boys and drinking.  It was one of my cousins, and her hubby, that actually got me into WoW.  But she gave that up years ago.

I've been babysitting my niece since she was about two years old.  I think my sister had hopes of her liking dolls and pink, and other girly things.  She's turning 10 next month.  Her obsessions in the last 2-3 years have been Doctor Who, Minecraft, I even had her playing WoW and Hearthstone for a little bit.  Our after school routine last year was to play Animal Crossing New Leaf.  She loved coming to my village and buying all the clothes in my shop.  She's now moved onto anime.  Totally beyond obsessed with Soul Eater.  She has a Black Butler pocket watch.  She likes to put Paper Moon from Soul Eater on Infinite Looper and drive me crazy with it!  I love that she's into this stuff.

I wish I had friends that were into gaming and the geeky stuff like my fiance and I are.  His friends have essentially also become my friends.  We all played WoW together for years.  Anytime we get together that's all we talk about.  And I love it.  Too bad we're all so adult now and living in different cities.  Some married with young children.  Can't hang out as often as you'd like.  Well I am very lucky to be with a man that loves this stuff too.  I couldn't imagine my life if I wasn't.  It's nice to have peers that you can share the stuff that's important to you with though.
