I met my wife in a library, not genetics class. Still nerdy I suppose.

... I think it could only get much nerdier if it were the Fantasy section of said library ![]()
...but please tell me it was the Romance section.

Awwww, that would be so sweet and romantic. Unfortunately no, she was sitting at the computer next to me by the printer. Fantasy or Romance would have been nice, but at least it wasn't the Horror section.
at least it wasn't the Horror section.
At least there's that, hahaha
Guys, anyone here play League of Legends? If so here's a xpeke (OOOPS I MEAN PEEK) at what I've been doodling today. ;P
PS: Yes yes Iron Bull will be flipped back later don'tworryIknow
I love this. ![]()
Trivia: xpeke once held the door for me. He and a friend were actually on the escalator behind me and --missed opportunity-- since I was basically just listening to the two guys behind me speaking Spanish, with Spanish accents, talking about transit passes and tickets. Then I got a look and it dawned on me when he held the door. I mean...those eyes, really. So I may have kind of followed him for about 20 steps to the corner just to be certain and being like WHY DID YOU (me) NOT TURN AROUND?, but I had to go to a work appointment so I didn't have time to stop longer.
Why Hamilton? What do you find sexy about him?
Well, for starters...

Best-looking Founding Father
More seriously, he was a passionate, intelligent, polarizing man who could never sit still and made as many enemies as friends. The kind of person who was going to change things indelibly no matter where he was or who he was with. Who made great strides and career-ending missteps with the same fire and determination.
(of course now that I've gushed about Hamilton, I can't help but notice the Solas parallels
)

YESSS. I wasn't sure if there were other LoL fans here or not. Yay! ![]()
I'm rooting for xPeke and Origen, for sure. I tried to find a clever name to sneak in as a nod to xPeke here... but I drew a blank. Could only figure out Fader/Faker and hitbox/boxbox D:
@NeverlandHunter,
I *think* it's our Punga fern (it's the Māori word for silver fern apparently, how did I not know this o.o).

Umerue posted another excellent chapter of Trespasser on AO3

Good morning!
Yes, I randomly fell asleep early and woke up around 4 am. I guess sleeping more than 3 hours is not doable on two consecutive nights ![]()
OMG, that was wonderful
You have all the hearts

Solas definitely does seem hard to write for, I think hes probably the hardest of all the DAI characters except Zombie Leliana
spirit!Leliana, falon.
It was really fun. Solas, such an overachiever.
His pride wouldn't let him do anything less ![]()
I laugh at your progression in posts, Drosophila. Gotta think ahead! ;p

Poor guy :-(
Indeed. I'm very undeserving of him.

Actually ... Solas killing Felessan doesn't bother me that much? Yes, it shows he has a ruthless side, one that can put personal feelings aside for duty - although we sort of knew that already. And Solas himself says he didn't lead a rebellion against immortal god-kings without getting his hands bloody. But mostly, Felessan was his agent and Felessan had betrayed him. Is it really that different than Leliana ordering the death of her agent that had betrayed the Inquisition?
I imagine Solas regrets doing it, even probably regretted it at the time. But it doesn't bother me knowing that Solas has a darker side. Everyone does really. I guess it just makes him more believable as a character, knowing that he has this side to him. And let's face it, Assquisitors or renegade Shepards or jerk Hawkes tend to do things just as bad or worse.
My Hawk executed Anders today. I hated doing it, but I felt that was only course she could take. I was going to kill Isabella too, for causing all the **** going down with Arishok, basically. I am, obviously, rather sensitive about betrayal these days. (also, my Lavellan is a fluffy puppy compared to my Hawk, all right.)
I think some of our heroes can be much colder than Solas himself.
I just... I don't know. Maybe it's the thing I had for studying psychopathy (and there's a thing called "positive psychopath", btw!
) , but people are never, ever black and white. We all have the ability to kill in ourselves. It's all about the boundaries and morals one holds, and pressure he feels if being pushed that way. It's... a complicated subject, really
But all to all, we all are capable of rather cold-blooded murder, if the right buttons are pushed. No exceptions.
Which is a scary thought to many.
But it definitely doesn't make Solas a monster as some might insinuate (not here, I think). It just shows he's a human (uhm... elf) like any other, and feels that his duty, goal and conscience allows him to execute, directly or indirectly, someone who he considers a betrayer. I hope it is clear what am I trying to express. It just doesn't seem be formulated well. It doesn't make it right, of course. But that's another discussion entirely.
Being shocked or scared over someone being capable of cold murder is something slightly... surprising. To me.

I need to make my heroine kill. This' gonna be good.
I'm skulking about. Trying to edit my next chapter. Trying to keep Solas as close to character as I can in my non-canon story. Not an easy thing to do. Watching LoR for some inspiration. I should just play the game and go fighting through the Storm Coast instead. I slept way too much since Friday night. Fell asleep around 10 slept unitl 4 then slept from 8 to 11 and then again from 7 pm to 10 it's now 3 am and I'm wide awake still. Insomnia sucks.

I'm not sure how I feel about that story....
I really really hate Mythal and Solas after reading it.

Oh no...trust me..it's not meant to be taken seriously...it's kind of a "twisted sort" of characterization of Mythal and Solas's relationship, admittedly so (per the writer). IMO, Solas only appears "bad" at first because we're seeing him only from a very hurt, broken and angry Lavellan's perspective. I see him kind of as a "sad-puppy-face" Solas that undeservedly gets all the blame for everything dumped on him...It's not really a "traditionally happy" story, but it's wacky, fun and hilarious. Also, it has DIRTHAMEN!!!
And can now, technically be called a Dirthavellan (complete with some dark and twisty Dirthavellan fluff!).
I suggest that you give it another shot or read further, because I really enjoy it, but regardless, you may want to check out "The Maker's Child" and/or "The Wrath of Heaven" by the same person, they both have (sort-of) happy endings and may be more to your liking. They're some of my favorite fanfiction out there (and I'm picky about what I really enjoy).

I used to watch the party banter when looking for inspiration on how to get the voices right, until the day I accidentally watched all five hours of Inquisition banter in one sitting.

You study psychopathy? That's gotta be interesting. Everything I know about the subject comes from Criminal Minds. Possibly not the best source. ![]()
I agree that everyone has the capacity to kill under the right circumstances, though.
As for Solas, learning about him and Felassan was pretty upsetting. It wasn't that he was willing to kill per se, it was just that ... it seemed like such cliched villain behaviour. 'My minion didn't do what I wanted him to, so he's dead'. Plus, we'd gotten to know and like Felassan before we did Solas, and his death was shocking. I admit, seeing it from the betrayal angle makes me feel slightly less awful. Especially with the comments Solas makes on the subject -"only an ally can betray you."
"only an ally can betray you."
Did you ever play Knights of the Old republic 2? Solas and Flemeth both remind me of old Kreia: "There must always be.. one who holds the knowledge of betrayal, who has been betrayed in heart, and will betray in turn." Eventually you're left with nothing but endless betrayals circling round a broken world.
