The veil is thin haha, Mayriya you made me laugh!

And the Elven nightlife, I was picturing amphitheatres and quiet walks under the stars. Eugh, I'm.. I'm making this romantic aren't I? I imagine an otherworldly quietness about the atmosphere. With happy versions of Abelas murmuring to their company.

You and I have different visions of Arlathan nightlife then.

I mean, yes, beautiful nightly woods.

But this is the Evanuris we're talking about. I'm thinking magical versions modern day celeb parties complete with enchanted deep mushrooms.

But it would so be under the stars with happy versions of Abelas. No doubt.

Wrecked, lol. I love that word for intoxication.

I totally see Dirthamen drawing naughty vallaslin all over Solas' face after he passes out while Falon'Din takes pictures.

Mythal and Elgar'nan are chilling in the VIP room with glasses of chardonnay

Sylaise baked up the absolute best elf root brownies in all of Elvhenan.

Andruil brought facepaint. Cause why not?

Ghilan'nain feeding brownies to her latest critter.

June shows up with some new thing he invented to smoke elf root out of.

The Evanuris at their finest.

Guys, I have frightened myself. I'm sitting here, in my basement, completely alone. All the lights are off save the one hanging above me, and it has just started to flicker. This is unusual, since the lights were replaced this past year and I rarely use them. To top things off, whilst typing out some fan fiction, I saw some sort of movement on my screen. It could have been a reflection. I turned around, and of course there's nothing at all. And the lights continue to flicker.

I have lured my pup over here to keep me company. I will try to ignore the little bumps and scratchy sounds I hear... but they are all the more disturbing now I know where the dog is.

Halp.

-writes DA fan fiction... but writes it in fear-

I scared myself earlier.

That awkward moment when you see a person moving out of the corner of your eye while you're supposed to be alone, have a small heart attack, and then realize it's your reflection.

Okay, so I have a writing question today and I really, really hope this doesn't open a can of worms or cause some kind of offense. And if folks think this is just not something to bring here or whatever, I'll edit the post or something. I just don't want ot take this elsewhere because this is the Blanket Fort and the world is scary.

Okay, so my question is.....if you are writing Krem in a scene........what pronouns do you use?

I'm asking this in all sense of sincerely wanting to represent Krem properly in writing. Both in regards to what people would see as right and what Krem would want.

Like I said, I know this may open a can of worms and I'll be happy to edit the post or whatever if it does. I just really didn't feel comfortable asking this kind of thing elsewhere.

He, him, his and so forth. Krem is referred to as male only in the game...at least as far as I remember.

Yeah, Krem is a dude and he would refer and prefer to be called by male pronouns. Any of his close friends and companions would know this and refer to him that way too. It might be interesting to write a character who doesn't know this though and calls him a she... they don't even need to be a rude bigot or anything, sometimes people just don't know and make mistakes. It's tough knowing how to address androgynous people you don't know very well. You shouldn't assume they're transsexual, but you shouldn't assume they aren't. Asking them if they're a he or she could also be taken the wrong way even if you mean to be polite about it. I don't see political correctness and social issues like transsexuality as a big part of Thedas so I think most people probably wouldn't stop and think about whether or not they could offend Krem before they say something. It's an interesting situation all around and also one that should probably be treated gently so as to not offend people. I think it was good of you to ask even if you were afraid of sounding ignorant, because it's better to ask than to write something accidentally offensive.

Regarding mods:

That is actually better. At least they don't discriminate :D

Now does the white Vivienne modder also provide black Solas?

Sylaise making elfroot hash brownies? Seems legit.

But where would this happen? A royal crystal spire? I can see mother Mythal with her chardonnay, while Elgar'nan is in a 'mood' (of the bad kind).

Hey peeps! I'm sending you both Origin friend requests too. If anyone else is looking for a friendly lady to kick serious booty with, my ID is ElvhenGlory (I chuckle with glee every time some "dude" with a mic says my name...without knowing what it refers too ;) ).

Hey, I've been meaning to try the multiplayer forever, and not daring as I hate playing with random strangers. I'd love a friendly lady to kick ass together too :) I'm Fullmoondreamer on Origin (according to my profile lol).

Shari do you have ESO?? If not, umm lore time? Did you know there is a tally of 7 marks scratched into Solas desk? Here's my excuse to bring it up :D.

Edit: I'm pretty sure the multiplayer is free, if you download the trial version of Inquisition you might be able to access it. Maybe, not sure.

Delayed answer - I don't have ESO :<

7 scratches??! -goes on some frantic rambling about the sun and the meaning of the number seven according to Judaism-

If the multiplayer is indeed free for PC it would be awesome.

...

Turns out it is awesome.

Maybe we can play at some weekend (because the time gap makes my morning your night) and I work through home during day (even though I spend an inordinate amount of time on this forum).

Shari:

I'm awake in 9 hours and usually go to bed 12 hours after that (though I end up on the tablet for another 5 hours, *ahem* like right now..).

I thought you were into Elder Scrolls? My brain is foggy..

Add me 'MurkyRain'.

I am into Elder Scrolls, Oblivion ruined my life

After a few years of breathing, eating and drinking MMORPGs I discovered MMOs without friends aren't fun anymore, I currently only invest in MMOs that my friends play (like GW2 which I played with my boyfriend). My only gamer friend isn't into ESO and my BF isn't into gaming anymore , so no ESO for me.

Edit: sent you a friend request, I'm Azashari, I don't.. know why..

Ooh I see, I don't commit to them seriously anymore. I just like going on immersion / lore trips. Inquisition has ruined me .

Thanks! I'll accept your request tomorrow (well, today but later on..).

Okay, that's what I was leaning to and hoping was right. I just wanted to make sure that if I did use male pronouns it wouldn't be incorrect. Or wrong. Or something.

I know this probably comes off as terribly....something. But I am asking sincerely.

Thank you for the answer.

It just comes off as a genuine question, asked respectfully. :) To me, using people's preferred pronouns is just a simple level of decency.   We're a good place to ask. :)

'Hilariously', I couldn't sleep until 6am. I started writing a bit while I was awake. Monday is already fun.

I liked how quizzy had the option in-game to be unaware without being deliberately offensive. I hadn't actually thought about how much interaction my Lavellan had with sexual minorities until Krem's dialogue came up. I decided that given the relatively small population of the Dalish, her background was less cosmopolitan than, say, Adaar who travelled all over the Marches. So Lavellan needed a bit of gentle education, while Adaar understood Krem and Dorian immediately.

I have an exact idea what to write, but somehow cannot start the first sentence or paragraph today.

I sat down to try, nonetheless. This came out.

----

Solas stood in front of his house, silver snowflakes peacefully falling over Haven, night calm and nearly quiet; with thoughtful eyes he glanced towards the tavern, watching the silly, irresponsible gremlins scutter around.

Nop. Not going to work today.

From experience, it's actually quite a boring scenario.

Person 1: So, Alex went to go see Nicki Minaj perform live the other night. I'm so jealous of him.

Person 2: Them.

Person 1: Ah, sorry. I'm jealous of them. Anyway I heard Nicki was great...

[conversation carries on as usual]

I'm not trans, but from experience, generally most people don't mind if you mess it up just the once, and apologise immediately afterwards, move on, don't make a big fuss, and don't repeat your mistake? It's not ideal, but it's not necessarily the end of the world.

In feminist/LGBTQ meetings, it's nowadays quite common to introduce yourself with 'name and pronouns' so that you know right off the bat how to properly refer to someone. I hope that one day this becomes common enough that whenever you introduce yourself, you automatically introduce your pronouns too, because gender can often be with at complete odds with presentation or expression may typically indicate. In short, you can't really ever tell someone's gender, or their pronouns, by looking at them, it's just that a lot of people happen to look & act in a way that corresponds with what's usually presumed. Even in that scenario, it's quite likely you've interacted with someone who is transgender in your lifetime but isn't out in public, and thus goes by what name/pronouns they were given at birth.

I'm also very happy this is a safe place to ask such questions. Cause I really wanted to spit this little scene thing out of my head and I was all nervous about it.

Nervousness crisis averted though, thanks to the much loved Blanket Fort.
