Naw, don't feel old.
I only learned TF could be used as a phrase because of this gif.
I love how modern language is becoming of series of choosing what words/letters to eliminate but still get the point across.

*Sigh* This is why I hate fix-it fic. It rarely pays any respect to what it's fixing.
Out of curiosity, what are some DA:I fanfics you recommend?
Well...if you want your wallet to cry, I've gotten a few things from Black Milk. Crazy expensive, but awesome. I have their Marauder's Map dress, which I wear all the time in summer. And a limited edition bodycon Cthulhu dress, which I've yet to work up the courage to actually wear in public
Have some more gradschool AU?Spoiler
Thank you. That helped.
This is like the Trespasser feels all over again,
Sure, when I get there. I think I'm gonna check in on Dorian and Vivienne next, because we have gone entirely too long without their snark. Which was kind of the point of the original setup
Also, in the spirit of not stealing other people's ideas, I hope this isn't too similar to Message Sent? I'm not posting this anywhere else, but I keep worrying about that when the texts start flying. I haven't put nearly as much thought into this AU as aicosu has into hers.
It's way better than Message Sent.

I do plan to write about this...eventually. Not death by stabbing, but the vallaslin stuff.

When I read your first sentence I originally assumed this. Which would spawn a whole new fanfic genre: An AU where my PC stabs another fan for inulting them?
You've mentioned you have been thinking about the vallaslin story. I always thought that was an interesting thing to explore - which one did they choose and why, how did the whole ritual go down?
I have some HC about this but it's vague, since the real reason for me is I thnk Dirthament is cool ![]()

There have been a few drabbles and such that I've taken to, but they're so short and basically retread canon that it's difficult to think of any off the top of my head. Message Sent's good, although it's lost some momentum, partially to the slow update schedule, partially because she's drawing things out too much. (And I'll admit I care more about her Dishonored fic, which unfortunately seems to be abandoned.) Apotheosis was good, before her Solas started really going off the characterization rails (And KL has a bad habit of sometimes getting too caught up in her own prose) Geeky-Jez's writing is alright. I personally dislike her Lavellan, but that's not really the fault of bad writing. And to round out the list of popular Solavellan fic - I read Flower/Ink but didn't really have strong feelings one way or the other about it.
I really don't seek out fanfic unless it gets a lot of popularity, especially now that I'm so busy with other stuff.
(And if you're asking about DA fic in general - back when I read Origins fic, I adored CDSpring's Cadash/Alistair and Musimm's Amaranth. Eve Hawke was sometimes too thick on the fluff, but it was always interesting and I actually liked her Cousland. I never got into DA2 enough to read any fanfic about it)
Life is Strange put me firmly back into the full of major, major feels corner.

My male Lavellan mage has Dirthamen's. It does look cool, plus he's keeper of magical secrets, I guess. It just felt right for him. Sometimes something just feels right and then intuition lends itself well to reasons. picking Mythal's wasn't a process for me initially but again, it felt right, and worked with everything else quite well.

Sophia had mythal at first, because it was pretty. Then I found out what these things actually mean and off to the Black Emporium she went to get Dirthamen. It fit a lot more back then too, because at first she was this brainy logical person, but as she grew as a character and became less of a self-insert, I decided that a feisty criminal with issues is more fun to play than a Dalish nerd ![]()

I loaded a few of my saves to check something and I wonder what is going on with the Anchor.
Either I missed something, or Divine Justinia the Spirit of Faith lied to us in the Fade.
She said that the Anchor is a part of the Inquisitor now and can only be removed with his/her death. I didn't believe Corypheus, because he might not know everything, but a powerful Spirit would probably know better. Or would not say such a thing if it wasn't convinced that it is true.
So... why Solas was able to remove the Anchor? Did he truly remove it completely?
Was the Fade-Justinia just wrong or is it a retcon?
There's also the matter of suddenly increased activity of the Anchor... what caused it?
Has something happened that destabilized it? (Because last time the Anchor was growing along with the Breach)
I know Solas said that ultimately only he could survive having the mark, but it's a very poor excuse for me.
Why Solas? What makes him so special? He's not a god, just an encient elf, so what makes him a special snowflake all of a sudden?
I know the Orb was his, but still...
Another, unrelated thing: I always search for the Black City in the Fade, but somehow nothing fits the description. Either I'm blind or we can't see it in game. Does anyone have screenshot with it? Or is it just implied it is there, but we can't see it?
I must say, I loved Tresppasser and the whole game in general, but it seems that some things are just conveniently happening in Trespasser that don't make much sense... or just they don't make sense yet.
Thoughts?

Speaking of vallaslin, is the full process dexcribed anywhere? What do the Dalish actually use to get the ink/dye/pigment in?
Thank you. That helped.

I used to like Message Sent but I just got so fed up with it. I liked the world that she built but didn't like the characters much, and really don't like her Solas. And smut bores me.
Yours has Shakespeare. One look at my name should tell you why I approve of that.

In defense of any and all fanfic anywhere: This is something people usually do for free in their spare time, it's purely a labor of love. I don't demand as much once I have stared at a screen blackly for thirdy minutes at 2 am, because this is when I found the time to write something after a day full of work, and my brain is fried, my eyes just want to close, but I still want to do this, damnit.
Apart from the occasional beta readers (also volunteers!), fanfic writers lack the support system of agents/editors/publishers to make a finished, polished product. And even when this support is present, the final product will never make everyone happy. It just can't. People have such different tastes, just think of all the criticism voiced at Bioware writers.
Finally, this is purely from experience of getting a non-fiction piece of text published, but the amount of time and effort to remove those last few annoying details to make a polished product is astronomical compared to the amount of time required to just write something.
Um, bone shards from shem intruders. DUH
More seriously, I figured if you can sculpt ironbark into armor that's as hard as steel but also use it for fine and flexible bows, ironbark needles should do the trick. I pictured them as longer needles, like acupuncture ones, but I don't know anything about tattooing so I don't know if that's practical.
You're welcome. Happy to help with the feels.

The Black City is visible in the Fade back in DA:O. It's pretty much always in the skybox. Not so in DA:I. That might be because you're physically in the Fade, or maybe they just forgot about it
Oh, now I see, I always thought it was just another weird rock floating around(in Origins). It seems that in DA:I we just have to imagine that it is there. ![]()
*still* haven't played Life is Strange. That's my main task for tonight. Wish me luck. I'll try not to cry.

Those are all interesting questions about the Anchor. Possibly someone who knows more about the lore or paid more attention can speculate ...
As for the Black City, I looked for it as well and didn't see it, or at least not anything I was sure of. It was much easier to spot in DAO, you really couldn't get away from it. Which was wonderfully creepy.
