Well, I can't speak for the rest of the thread, but I highly doubt I will. Every time you post one I start squeaking like a mouse! My cats give me these judging looks but I don't care, it's worth. 

 

JadePrince, I would never call you a whiner and you have every right to feel disappointed. We still love you, even if you don't hang around as much. I understand.

After confirming the lack of a Varric romance, Mike Laidlaw said he'd see about getting a blog post up to clear up any remaining mysteries.  So it looks like it's going to be about the last LIs.  Maybe any race-gating on already revealed LIs.

Well, this is disappointing. i guess I'll be spending less time in this thread now. I just cannot roll a female/play a straight romance.
It was nice while it lasted, Solas thread.

He was following her the whole time and that's how he becomes your companion early on in the game. PW did say that he seeks "you" out, afterall.

As far as sexuality, I'm pretty sure he's just born that way and that the story reasons have to do with the race gating. The other way makes no sense.

Personally I'm happy about this. Bioware truly made the romance that best fit the character, rather than simply appealing to the masses. This is part of the reason Dorian is gay, Sera is a lesbian, and Iron Bull is pan. It fits their respective characters to be so, rather than simply being a tacked on feature for certain subsets of the fanbase. I like Dorian a lot from what I've seen, and I truly do wish he was bi/straight, since I do not play gay characters. But it makes a LOT of sense for his character to be homosexual. I mean, what could make a man more of a renegade in a society that is so concerned about lineage and bloodlines?

 

 

 

No, their sexualities do no "fit" their respective characters, because there is nothing keeping any one of them from being the opposite orientation that they already are.  Personality does not determine sexuality.

Oh my god now I have this scene in my head of the first meeting where Solas will just jump out of some shrubbery randomly in front of the inquisitor and start reciting some cheesy ballad he wrote to impress the inquisitor and to praise her fairness in medieval speech    It's 3 AM here okay my brain may not be functioning optimally anymore...

I'm not adverse to the idea either, but I'm just really surprised people jumped on the "It must be because babies!!!" so quickly. I didn't even think about it until others brought it up first xD I still really don't think that's why though.

I never thought about that either until I saw it in this thread! Then I read the "he's had a family before" and all I could think of was Carth. Then Thane. I only liked Carth because well, Raphael Sbarge. I did really love Thane's character, though. Anyway, I wouldn't mind. I'm so happy that I can romance the only 2 guys that I wanted (Cullen and Solas), that I'd romance him regardless. *fans self*

I'm hoping that, seeing as how Solas appears to be particularly integral to the plot, and now that there's only a very small percentage of players who can/will romance him, that his friendship arc will be substantial.

 

He's far too interesting to me, so even though he's not available as a LI, I still want to have him in my party all the time, haha.

 

But for real, I want to know more about what a friendship with him will be like. Mentor? Brother? I hope we can have a close (platonic) bond. Solas, you're becoming my Mordin 2.0!

Plus, we can now throw the 'All elves, especially male ones, are bisexual' trope out the window. So glad Bioware has done so. That was my biggest worry about Solas being bi, which I truly thought he would be. Bioware really threw a curveball here, given what we knew about Solas.

 

Really curious about the story reasons, though. Elven babies seems to be obvious explanation/fear. Personally, I'm not against this. Once of my favorite parts about the romances in Star Wars: The Old Republic is that they all referenced having kids, be they natural or adopted. To me, that's a natural progression of a relationship. Even if that progression is "No, let's not have them.". So Solas making the decision that he doesn't want to have human/dwarf/Quna-(wait, do Qunari even have half-breeds?) kids would be a logical explanation. Still, I have a feeling that it is something more.
