Hawke's always been my favourite, with Varric and Solas tied for second place. Her death always hits me really hard, probably because of all those she leaves behind.
 
That was beautiful. Beautifully written, and filled with beautifully gut wrenching emotion. Very good use of Varric's line 'It's not a good story unless the hero dies'. That always struck me as bioware's motto, as well as heartrendingly foreboding on its own. I liked the fearful respect Hawke was given, everybody knows she's technically some kind of 'hero', but they also know about the long line of corpses that trail behind her. Anders, hopeless, haunted Anders. And then Varric, the only one who can keep going, because he's the best at lying to himself. Ugh, DA2 characters are pros at Angst.

*sits in the warm corner of the fort* So I just went outside into a humid, light drizzle with a breeze that managed to effectively turn into a torrential downpour with winds that made umbrellas useless (and left me in a hoodie), created giant swirling puddles to get my feet and pants allllll soaked in, and now requires I give my hair a wash so it doesn't turn into ultrafrizz or become stringy. My hair is weird like this.

 

At least Solas doesn't have to deal with haircare matters.

 

I am not so fond of the concept design but I do wonder what younger Solas with his ginger hair may have looked like. Just not the wild hair, the dreads, the bone thing. I'm not into those artworks.

All headcanon as far as I'm concerned! I think the majority of thought on this, though, is that Solas has either ginger or dark blonde hair. Concept art had him with brown hair of varying degrees to even blonde, but his eyebrows in-game are kind of auburny.

Where does the ginger Solas idea come from anyway? The early concepts show him with dark brown hair. His eyebrows are brown. Sure, he has freckles, but so does one of my friends who's Asian and has black hair and dark brown eyes. (The first time I noticed her freckles, I kept starting at them because they reminded me of Solas. I think she thought I was a creep.)

They don't seem dark to me. They seem more of a ginger brown to me.. Eyebrows do tend to be darker than a person's hair though, I think. Mine are. My hair is very dark brown and my eyebrows are just slightly darker.

OK, those eyebrows look dark brown on my screen. And my eyebrows are lighter than my hair, in a dull and faded kind of way, while my hair is very dark brown / black.

Solas has dark brown hair, I think.

Well that picture you exampled is in a dark room, and I don't know. I still see auburn as well and agree. The one I linked is nice and bright, for comparison ;P

Agreed. I'm extremely pro-HC anyway. People can HC Solas looked like a turian in the game for all I care. Me, I think men with dark hair and blue eyes are very hot.

Personally I don't really see the any "auburny" color, unless he's standing in a very specific lighting. *sigh* It's his eye color thing all over again (which for me still stay decidedly gray). In more neutral lighting conditions it's just a regular, dark'ish, mousy brown color. It doesn't appear there's anything reddish in hair itself, unless there's reddish/warm tinge in environmental lighting color (like Haven/Fade sequence).

 

Just a general note to nobody specifically - remember people: if you want to judge colors of something, try and pick as neutral lighting conditions as possible!
