Well, there you go. I don't know why it's a big deal, since he's never going to have hair in the game. I guess if you're trying to figure out what his kids with your Lavellan would look like, maybe?

Which is also partly why super dark hair is such a pain in the butt to dye. Layers of pigment. (Also if you leave dark hair for too long and your ends split, you get orangey pieces at the end.  Mine used to be down to my thighs so the ends split...a lot.

 

I'd do an unnatural red or a dark purple if it weren't such a....process (pun intended).

in those images you posted, midnight tea, I still see a light auburn tone.

 

As in - a tiny bit of orange or red? You'll always see that in any browns, considering they're basically dirty oranges/reds

But auburn hair have definitely a lot more orange in it than regular brown hair. IMO auburn is too strong of a red to call Solas's hair "auburny". They're just... brown, with nothing special in it.

Agreed. I'm extremely pro-HC anyway. People can HC Solas looked like a turian in the game for all I care. Me, I think men with dark hair and blue eyes are very hot.

I don't really have preferences, though I do like blue eyes. I also kind of think brown-eyed natural blondes are interesting looking.

 

I wish BioWare and other studios would bother refining brown eyes in their games. If you notice, pretty much no one has brown eyes in Dragon Age, for instance. I have brown eyes and I don't even give many of my characters brown eyes because the colors they often use look flat and not saturated enough, or they don't always work with the lighting. The short version is many studios don't make brown eyes  very well, which is weird since most of us in the world have them.

Those Punnett squares were written out long ago

They will have brown hair and green eyes, 100% chance of freckles, since my Lavellan is a ginger with green eyes.

The cleft chin is a problem, since we don't have Solas' family tree to work with, but there's at least 50% chance of cleft chin.

Whether the hair is curly, wavy, or straight isn't clear, since we don't know what Solas' hair is like. Curly hair is dominant and my Lavellan has wavy hair, so depending on Solas' hair the chance for the kids to have curly our wavy hair is 50%-100%.

Hehe yes. pro tip: if you're fair haired and want to dye your hair to a nice rich dark brown? Dye it red first.

To me his eyebrows look more taupe in lacking lighting and a definitive auburn in light. Auburn is a reddy brown, so to me, it makes the perfect colour sense. Pair that with light eyes, fair freckled skin and what appears to be pink undertones... it works, logically. If you're in that medium tone zone, your eyebrows will often be slightly darker than the top of your head (unless your brows are a bit thin). But it's a game, so logic doesn't always play a part.

Wow you're right. The only companion with brown eyes is Cassandra and hers are hazel. They made that decision because "The choice of walnut hazel eye colour served to further her authoritative look, appearing a bit warmer than blue eyes and giving her a harder edge". Wat. Why.. So subjective XD.

 

Also Cullen has brown. But that's it.

 

There are also a lack of natural green eyes.

I'd seriously push for a world state where magic is gone completely, just so everyone is forced to obey genetics. (And chemistry, physics, and all the other sciences, of course. But mainly genetics. )
