I am an academic and Solas seems like a self taught academic. I am a historian of science and tech..and Solas is a historian of sorts too...Match made in heaven ?  

 

For now, most favorite companion in the game. Definitely he will be in my party. I want to have lots of intellectual discussions about Fade and Magic ! 

 

That interview also makes me dislike Vivienne more and more. She just seems to have a grudge against everyone. 

 

Also Bioware, he NEEDS to be an LI. My Inquisitors would totally go for him. Even the male ones and I am straight. Intelligence is damn sexy, it transcends sexual orientations. 

 

Btw, Solas looks like an Elven Charles Xavier, without the whole paralytic thing. Not a Nosferatu. Come to think of it, with his description titled "The Mind", I think that is what Bioware is going for.

Good to at last get info on Solas and I really loved with what has been revealed for him. I love characters that unhinge an established view based on the current povs the player/reader has had to deal with.

[PW]: Okay, so, the Fade—bear with me, this gets a little weird—the Fade is the spirit side of the Dragon Age universe. It’s this incredible place full of dreams and memories, imprints left behind by powerful emotions or events in our world. Solas has trained himself to do something a lot like lucid-dreaming. He goes to ancient ruins where the Veil is thin, goes to sleep, and actually experiences the history of places no one else has seen in centuries.

 

Does this mean he is a Dreamer?

 

If he's not a full dreamer, he's clearly the closest a normal mage can get to it.

I don't think he's a dreamer in the way we've seen it in previous games per say... (maybe, could be a secret left out from the interview/profile). Wow wow wow I just... wow. So he really is wearing jammies! I really like that. He dressed for what he wants to do, sleep and traverse the fade. I just think it's so funny how he hangs out in ancient ruins just to go to sleep and do his nerd-ing in the fade.

 

 

I like his old design a bit better but I still like his new one too!     

The old design really grew on me because of how striking he was. But it seems they've done some tweaking? (Maybe not and we're all just crazy!) But his features seem softer. The funny thing is some of you use the term 'alien' and when I showed my sister she was like 'he looks so alien'. (Though I don't think in a bad way)

It’s still dangerous, but because Solas found the Fade on his own, he went in without preconceptions, letting him explore the area and befriend spirits without the black-and-white mentality that holds back mages trained in the Circle. While everyone else guards themselves, assuming everything in the Fade is a threat, Solas will find a brilliant unimaginable light, smile delightedly, and move in for a closer look.

 

EVERYTIME I READ THIS INTERVIEW AGAIN I'M LOVING HIM MORE AND MORE

AHHHHHH. I can't help but imagine him being a little giddy to go into the fade while the some of the characters are like, 'durr hubrr the fade is scary, magic is bad, and Andraste died for our sins." Kind of makes me think of the picture where it looks like Cassandra, Varric and someone else (maybe it's just them) in the fade almost back to back being very cautious about their surroundings.

He sounds like a character with a lot of depth, and I love it.

It is good to have some variety in the companions' attitudes. I'm glad that Solas kind of stands out from most of the companions.  Then again it seems like every companion is getting their own unique touch. 

 

Edit: About Vivienne from what I'm seeing she doesn't feel like she wants to be in the inquisition. There is probably a reason as to why she feels she has to? Maybe it helps her in the Big Game going on in Orlais? Just a guess.

And... "The Mind!?"  I just..... there is nothing sexier to me than intelligence.  I'm also loving the new face design - he looks amazing!

 

The thing is... before I sort of wanted him to be a LI, but wouldn't have been too disappointed if he wasn't... but now? HE NEEDS TO BE.  He might even be edging out Cullen as first playthrough romance material.

All I can think of with his profile quote is that he's trying to sound all ~mysterious~ and a ~wise old sage mage who Saw Things~ and failing. And that's adorable   I bet he's going to be the very portrait of an absent-minded professor/Genitive-type quirky scholar who'll react to everything people find odd with wonder and by going all "Fascinating!" and speaking in overly technical, big words using Logical Smart Person Speak.

Yeah, I keep thinking that too... 'alien,' because I can't think of anything better.  More... elven, really... but that's kind of lame, considering 

 

And someone else mentioned that he sounded like he might be socially awkward... To me he just seems to the type that really doesn't care what anyone thinks - he just is who he is and if you don't like it, too bad.
