Well, at least I'll be doing only two timelines, though they're so far apart, they might as well be different universes.

Last night I came up with some more stuff for my next few rivalmance chapters, and for a moment I seriosuly considered focusing on that exclusively. The post-Tresspasser thing can be a bit intimidating if I think about it too much. But I've had the idea for so long, I feel like I should just bite the bullet and write it, for my own peace of mind if nothing else.

Edit: Oh, remember this one file you had that only had the words "You're" in it?

Today I find one that only had a "Th". Nothing else

Also a brilliant way to start. :P

The "you're" was sacrificed for the intro of something I thought was going to have a plot.

And you ended up with goats instead?

Actually, "Th" has a lot of potential. It can be the start of: "There was a dead goat nearby."

I can't do cold showers either and lukewarm is still too cold. I love a nice hot shower, even if I've been advised against it, but I just have to pay attention in case I have a reaction. There was no way I was going to resign myself to cool and lukewarm showers.

I can count the number of times I've used haircolor on one hand. And aside from leaving stains that looked like a massacre on one towel, it wasn't too bad. Adding red tones one time was the nicest, though it was mostly only visible in light. They discontinued that brand, unfortunately, as it was a temporary kind that washed out in a month or so, but since I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week, it lasted longer.

When I can even afford to get it done, I may experiment with some streaks. I'm in what will probably be a year of growing my hair back out in order to fix a bad cut, so we'll see in a while.

You get dizzy and black outs huh? Is it like a grey fuzziness, like lots of small grey circles? Cause I get that from standing up too fast sometimes, it's odd. I've never fainted though.

Writing short stories really helps with getting original inspiration going. Also, just thinking about plots whenever, stuff that you don't even have to write. Just using your imagination as often as possible is probably the most useful in making you more inspired in general :)

For me, getting interested in history and mythology really helps. There's a lot of hidden stories in history that go unnoticed, and can be translated into any type of story you want

I've hit a wall with my writing and haven't touched it in months (aside from jotting down the odd idea). Because of what I write (the dark stuffs) I like listening to talks about strange things in human psychology. Currently I've been a bit unsure about the direction I'm going in. I made a good start but eh, I like to basically plan out the whole thing before I write it but I can't think of an end.

ugh, I'm thinking about dropping my current fic and moving onto something else. Solavellan is really heavy and emotionally exhausting to write.

I'm not sure what though. Also: I haven't prepared for NaNo at all. I feel like I should try my hand at original fiction again but all that inspires me and gets my writing juices going right now is fanfiction.

I'm in the same boat for NaNo. I thought for sure I would have an idea by now but I don't other than another fan fic. Even then I'm not sure how different it would be from what I'm currently writing, unless I make it a post Trespasser AU fic. This would be the first year I've done something like that but I think I could totally do it, my current fic is at 40K Plus words already. Just need to brainstorm some ideas by Sunday, sure no pressure! :o

I think having studied english formally hasn't helped me with writing at all. Every time I think about original fiction I feel as if I should only write some ground-breaking, experimental, inspiring "next great novel of the generation" or something. Which 100% puts me off it.

Fanfiction is just for fun. No pretense. It's what I love about it.

Maybe the fanfic world can be a starting point. One can being with just a few elements of the fandom and spin them so much that the ending product is almost an original fic in itself.

How does one prepare for NaNo anyway?

I have a rough outline with the main things that will happen in both fics. But I can't bring myself to decide on everything beforehand. It kind of ruins the fun of writing a first draft, because I know that if I have a complete plan, I will stick to it no matter what, and miss the opportunity to develop things as I write.

I think an idea would be a great starting point for me

I still can't believe I'm seriously considering this.

From personal experience, as well as hearing advice from others, the best way to work past writer's block is to just keep writing. I know that sounds a bit "well duh Crusher, tell me something useful" but seriously, writing past writer's block is sometimes the only way. You just have to push through.

I would say to expand on every thought you have, and really try to draw as much inspiration you can from your ideas as possible.

Write write write write all the time as much as you can XD

Eventually, things should come together :)

Here is my only ever original idea for a story. I lost interest in Sims 4 and never actually continued it, but it was cute and fun at the time.

Trevor Trollsim

Edit: Wow I think i seriously need sleep, my brain is swapping words around as I type, should have said my only original idea ever <_<

I am friggin' frightened and intimidated, TBH.  And I'm not even trying for the next great anything, the next readable something would be just about an achievement at my level :D And doing at least a chapter a day, I don't even know if that'd be possible. I'm the slowest writer ever.

@FernRain: I know this is kind of rubbish advice, but, 'don't think about it too much'.

If I overthink my ideas I tend to end up being overwhelmed by their length and complexity. If you have a good idea, cool! Now write it down. Just keep writing. Make it habitual.

Yep. Good old not enough blood to the brain. I had two annoying ones this morning which blocked a lot of my vision and forced me to sit, then felt kind of bad for a little while. I have borderline low blood pressure and the luck to have this inappropriate response that lowers it. I have fainted, rarely, but I get the pre-faint symptoms enough that I can usually act to prevent it. Go and sit, put my head down, get out of the hot place, etc. I've been dealing with this since my teens and I manage, but worry about when I'm older.

laundry

calluses

It's really not about perfection at all, so for everyone - just write. Work with an outline or don't. Just write. Don't go back and edit. Edit later. This is kind of the point of NaNo. Just to get it out. And sometimes, a lot of times, this means just doing it and turning of the self-editor voice.

This reminds me, I should do my outline. I'm using a years old idea, but the whole thing is in my head. I'm just afraid without an outline, I'll run out of steam somewhere. I have old, old notes I'm going to try and find.

Alright good to know! Drawing has sorta taken over at the moment but I'm not sure what I'll do next, maybe I'll go back to practicing proportions of body parts. Then I could probably find time for writing.

If anyone's bored outta their mind here's my story start (don't click if you're set off by reading about 'primal' fear and the way humans act under that environment). And I haven't looked at it in months so I'll probably be unhappy with some of the grammar/wording now.

oh man I feel you about being a slow writer. It takes me an entire evening + the next morning to get something mostly done (and even then it needs editing again just to iron out the kinks).

It does make me feel happy that my output has gone from -> August: nothing, to September: 2k, to OctoberL 10k. If I can quadruple my output again I'll have completed NaNo! hahaha *sweats nervously and melts into a puddle*

I might just take the 'novel' part of NaNo as a minor detail and simply aim to write 50k words. Which feels much less scary somehow.

I still subsist on angst and misery. I enjoy them, in a way that's probably very wrong.

Oh, I love pain and hate joy.  That's half the reason why I'm reading the Horus Heresy novels and hellspiralling over Space Marines.  The other half is a childish appreciation for augmented warriors with chainswords.

But writing angst myself is another matter.  I sometimes joke that I have the emotional range of a teaspoon.  Which is not really true, but like I said the other day, angst wears me out. And while I like the end result, I don't like the feeling of being emotionally drained, so I don't do it very often.

EDIT:  And as usual, the stupidest things I say wind up ToP.  Have a Fen'Harel pumpkin.

I'm so bad at not plotting and scheming . I'm quite calculated. For example my forum posts usually get edited multiple times after posting <_<. But my current problem is in the 'ideas' department, I'm totally blank on where I want to go.

Yeah that's not ideal. I was told I had low blood pressure when I was younger. Do you get the tightness in your head when you stand up too fast? I've found take a few deep breaths before standing helps with that. The grey outs catch me unaware though .

Truth. Some of us can write context and masterfully turn laundry (and the occasional dead goat) into beautiful and romantic stories.

Others not so much  The soup never went anywhere

(Actually the dialogue that was supposed to accompany the soup is the dialogue I plan to put in the veilfire scene.  Without soup  )

One issue is I tend to get up suddenly to shut off the alarm in the morning, which isn't really a good idea but I can usually deal with the greyouts when they hit since I'm used to them, with slow breathing, making morbid jokes to myself, or sitting if it's that bad. I sometimes even get them mildly just doing something like stretching. i wore a light hoodie on a rainy day in early summer and I started going faint in a store. It's annoying more than anything. I'm lucky that it has only been truly bad on very few occasions (going temporarily blind or fainting).

That's what I was trying to say - it doesn't wear me out. It energizes me to spin it into more and more angst, and as I realized last night, it kind of borders on horror at a point. But I enjoy it, and it's somewhat morbid. So I run into the danger of the writing becoming so dark at one point that anyone who bothers to read it is left thinking, "WTF." But since I enjoy it, it is what it is. Maybe part of it is how emotional I can get while at the same time being really awkward with showing emotion IRL. So it all pours out into fictional characters.

Here's what the soupy snark ended up being. It's not even that snarky, and man, I guess I am a bit better than a few months ago. Anyway, this part really doesn't belong anywhere anymore, so might as well paste it here. (Also it's never been through any editing, and it shows.) Spoilered so as not to spam.
